The short and sour of it

The short:

Stacy and Megan went down to the Capital Building in Atlanta where Sonny Perdue proclaimed September 28th Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Day. This, of course, is the day of the Music For Megan concert. We are really looking forward to this day, as we get to meet a lot of families whose children have this dreadful disease. Stacy, Megan and Ian-Thomas got a short tour of the building, culminating in a visit to the Senate chambers which was kind of neat.

The sour:

Brighter side of things...

Megan is wearing her new backpack, for her feeding pump at the ENT today. Stacy said she was calling herself a big girl. In Megan-speak of course.

Punch to the stomach

Once again we are faced with dealing with Megan's mortality. Just when you think things are going well, we get news of another child fighting for their very life. Bekah is the subject of Stacy's recent post on Megan's Carepage. Here is and excerpt:

A thought I had to share

Walking the mountain today, ankle in pain, sweat pouring down my face and listening to the iPod, I had an epiphany. A realization. The song I was listening to is called Forgiven by Relient K. My mind began to wander, thinking about being forgiven and asking for forgiveness. As the words and song filled my ears, I began to cry.
