Shared on Wed, 08/29/2007 - 08:10The short:
Stacy and Megan went down to the Capital Building in Atlanta where Sonny Perdue proclaimed September 28th Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Day. This, of course, is the day of the Music For Megan concert. We are really looking forward to this day, as we get to meet a lot of families whose children have this dreadful disease. Stacy, Megan and Ian-Thomas got a short tour of the building, culminating in a visit to the Senate chambers which was kind of neat.
The sour:
A friend of ours and fellow Sunday School class member and Care Group member, Todd Hayes, passed away yesterday. All I can say is that I'm having a little difficulty with this. No cause has been given as of yet, but he was found in his bed yesterday morning. Now, Todd was a VERY fit, young man and I can't figure out what could have caused something like this to happen. As someone who is trying to get back into shape, it worries me to know that so many young people are dying in their sleep, or just falling over from massive heart attacks. He hadn't been in Sunday School for a couple of months, so I'm not sure if he was sick or not. I know Stacy reads my blog from time to time, and I don't want her thinking I'm freaking out. I'm really not, just a bit concerned. I just feel better typing out some feelings, that's all. I believe Todd was a Christian, so he is Heaven now, with no pains at all. A prayer of peace and understanding and love goes out to his parents. When our Sunday School teacher called his mom, the first thing she asked was "How is Megan doing?" That is a woman who has God on her side. In her moment of pain, agony and hurt, she is still caring for others. She knows Jesus is right there with her, comforting her. Whispering in her ear.
Matthew 28:20
"..And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
That, my friends and family, is the ultimate comfort
