My friend has a spare Dell P4 system hes not using, that would be adequate for running Race07 dedicated server. I have an old P3 system that I was hosting it on, but it wasnt quite strong enough. The problem is that the Race07 dedicated server is not free like with other sims. You have to buy the Race07 content that you wish to host with dedicated server. On the last day of the Steam sale on all the Race07 content, I made a secondary Steam account and bought the three main packages: Race Injection, Race On, and GTR Evolution. Once my friend reinstalls WinXP on that spare P4, my secondary Steam account will be hosting Race07 in dedicated server mode. A spare computer really is the best way to host it on your own. It just takes a second Steam account and purchase all the content that you wish to host :)
I looked at several dedicated server game hosting sites, and I only found one that will host Race07. And they make you buy all the content you wish to host :)
found this for setting up a dedicated server. Pretty sure when i was in the reddit group, this is how it was done
I am on a firewall protected LAN network and want to a RACE server for other users of the same LAN network, what ports do I need to open? A: TCP+UDP 48942 - 48957 and UDP 48958-48973
Log in to Steam on the PC you want to use as a dedicated server.
Click the Steam icon in the system tray (with the clock - lower right corner of the screen).
Select "Community".
Click "Steam" on the menu bar of the window that opens.
Select "Go Offline . . ." and confirm it.
You will be "logged off" of Steam.
Start your dedicated server, set it up.
Go to your playing PC and start Steam, log in, start your game and connect to your server.
You did remember to open the ports on the firewall the server is on, right?
Dont think you need two machines to do this. I am pretty sure the hosted server can also be your normal PC.
Neverender, that scenerio uses two PC's. How can you be logged off and logged in at the same time? lol You can host a race from within the game, but thats not a dedicated server.

yeah, i figured i didnt know what i was talking about. sorry for the confusion. Hopefully someone will get it sorted. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the track soon.
@oldslowfred.....ya the game is quite fun, the more i play it the better it gets.....ill send u a friend and group request on steam.
Regarding setting up a dedicated server.....I have a bunch of parts left over from my build...10gb RAM, 500gb hdd ,460w PSU, case.....iam gonna buy a new mobo this week so i would just need a chip to have a second pc.....would an i3 or I5 be good enough to run a server or could I go even cheaper?
My current internet is 50 mbps download with 400gb data for $10 more I could upgrade and get 100 mbps with 600gb data would this be good enough for a dedicated server?

You can get a P4 on the cheap and that would host it just fine. As far as internet, your upload speed is important because that is the speed in which your server will be sending packets to the clients. Anything above 2MB upload is great. That will reduce ping rates. If your internet service has a data cap, I dont recommend hosting something because if you happen to go over that limit they screw you. Unless of course that limit only applies to download data, but I doubt it.
Speed of your internet is more than good enough kurupt.
In regards to system specs you only have to meet the minimum specs of the game so a p4 should be ok.
In regards to content hosting has anyone looked at the non-steam version of the game?
I will look if I can host a server tonight (non steam) If so I will start putting together a Euro server + maybe a 2O2Race TS server.
clearly better plans out west than here in the maritimes
I have the $10/month upgrade which supposedly is up to 40Mbps upload, 4Mbps download & 250GB/month cap
(and don't exceed that cap or your gonna pay $$$)
but the next step here (with Eastlink cable) to the supposed 100Mbps upload, 5Mbps dl & same 250GB cap at $165.95/month OUCH !
God damn! i currently pay $70 if it was a stand alone but we have it bundled with hd tv and phone so it works out to about $60 a month for internet $160 in total......for $110 a month shaw offers a 250 mbps download 15 upload with a 1tb monthly limit and i use to think alberta internet prices were high

lol.... my telephone, digital HD tv and internet are all bundled together.
after tax my monthly bill is well over $200
the cable/digital HD tv is by far the biggest part of the cost
imo this is a big reason for data caps + high monthly fees for very hispeed
cable/digital HD is a cash cow and they dont want to make it easy for you to drop it and just stream content over the internet....
Wow!! I don't feel to bad about mine now. I pay $165.00 a month.
But that includes two cable internet lines, two modems (Wife and I have our own lines), two HD receivers, 4 standard TV lines and phone w/unlimited local and long distance. Plus I only pay $1.00 for any international calls.
And the internet is 50 down 3.5 up for both of us, Unlimited.

uhm......add deadzone and lower the steering lock.....iam sure there is a way within windows to configure the controller manually?
Cheers Kurupt will do.
It works fine with rF but its a bit funky with R07
found 2 good mods for a possible series
VW scirocco cup and clio cup both are available at nogrip racing
Need to sort out hosting issues first...
Will have a look at servers tomorrow see whats what.
Can we just host our own?

got back into playing a bit of Race 07 today, it is a lot of fun.
It is definitely quite similiar to RacePro on the 360, but Race07 on the PC just seems to be more complete and work better...
I absolutely love that Zandvoort track!!! wish more of the race sims had that one.
Took the WTCC BMW 320i out onto Zandvoort
my gamer tag on Steam is OldSlowFred
I have Race 07 and GTR Evolution thru Steam.
Thought I had Race Injection but all I see on my Steam list of racing games is Race 07 and GTR Evolution.
This Race Injection is somewhat confusing I will have to look into how to get it thru Steam tomorrow...

Yeah like Church said minimum spec is all you need. Your connection makes me green with envy LOL

I did a quick mental calculation and if I down loaded 1tb of data in a month my bill would bankrupt me literally. Aprox €270,000...
I pay £7.00 per month for unlimited downloads and 20meg down and 2.5 meg up.
With all my TV, phone and net I pay around £52 per month (about $83.00)
In that i get HD about 500 channels and unlimited phone calls.
You guys pay way too much in the states

If you double mine it is about the same lol
Well apart from the speed
Oh yes, you have a sevice I would kill for LOL
So when are we going to do an event?
when some more people shoe interest....
I am very interested!
Well that makes three of us...at least we're guaranteed a podium LOL
Potentially interested.....depending on what you're running. All I have is the base Race07. And of course timing.
