lots of people here talking about what they think of a game they don't own and haven't played....  wink

but seriously, I've never played a Forza game but bought this.  I'm having a blast with it.  I'm on the 4 championship - Have an MR2 1995, RX-8, Subaru class B, an couple other small cars and I bought a Corvette 2009 ZR-1 which I love.  Tons of fun.

I don't know what I'm missing, so maybe that's why it's fun?  If that's the case, I'm glad I don't.  Any added features will just be a bonus.

The best way I can describe it is this. I have completed 3% of Forza 4 but have over 500 hrs in the game. Most of us don't race Forza for the single player but mostly for the events we create.

You're missing a lot of what previous versions had. Grab yourself a copy of FM4, get comfortable with it and then come join us for a casual night of racing or join in a series. We will help you with tunes, vinyls and complete paint jobs if you'd like. We even have folks here who will help anyone get faster and more consistent. See, we can do that in FM4 because it allows gifting. It seems like a minor feature but for most of us here it is HUGE. There's lots more to my objections to some of the inexplicable changes they made that affect how I play the game. Of course, it's their game to develop as they see fit but I am certain that I am not the only one who thinks that removing certain features (AH,SF and gifting) adversely effects many other community members as well. Hey, it is what it is.

My invitation to you is sincere. Please feel free to join us for some racing. We are always looking for more members. Send me a FR and I can help to get you started here at 2O4F.

Yes Shadow.  Please take him up on the invite.  Once your reputation gets known these guys are extremely fun to race with.  My own rep, "very slow, easy to beat but extremely good looking" has always allowed me entrance into the ocassionaly online race that I pop into from time to time.  Also as "cproracing" mentioned.  I went back and looked at my stats and I have about 400 hours in on FM4.  But most of it is stuff that I make up myself or the guys have tailored for events.

I very much appreciate you guys commenting in detail about Forza 5.  I still intend to download it (all digital these days), if for no other reason so that I can say I played it.  It is possible that I will sell my T500 next year and get the TX, it just depends on how much I like Forza 5 and how the move to the garage turns out.

Oldschool, I will echo what Snappy said about taking another look at Sony and GT6.  I bought GT5 over three years ago on launch day and I still regularly play it at least an hour or two a week.  It is far and away my favorite game of all time and I have invested many, many hours, using six different wheels!!!  LOL!  It still keeps my interest, even though GT6 is just around the corner.  I cannot wait, it will be awesome.  I am confident that Sony has learned from its mistakes with GT5 and is going to make a very good game into an awesome game.  Our GT5 Thursday night series has been going strong since early 2011, with no end in sight, particularly with the refresh that GT6 will bring.

I also would remind folks that the best sim racing continues to be on PC.  Yes, if you were to ask me, I would tell you iRacing is the best, particularly if you are interested in oval racing, but there are lots of other great options out there, including rFactor 1 and 2, Assetto Corsa, Game Stock Car 2013 and F1 2013, just to name a few of my favorites.  And yes, I am living proof that you can sim race on the PC and on the consoles.  The variety has been the spice of my sim racing life.

OK Wheels,

Saying I’m the lesser of 2 evils is perhaps the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me and I understand this is all in fun and all is good but exactly what “tone” or “intent” should I infer when I read the above sentence? I’m having a hard time coming up with anything beyond you believe I run my room as a dictator and much like an earlier post directed towards Oldschool it does come off as very combative. Surely you can see this and adding your silly little P.S. doesn’t magically make things clearer for people who really don’t know how to take you.

Case in Point…

Wheels you’re an arsehole!

That is what I was thinking.  I have done GT5 online racing for almost three years, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have been booted.

The only real improvement to the game, graphical fidelity aside, is that the LB is tied to the rivals events...which means I get paid in experience, affinity, and currency for hotlapping and testing tunes. The rest of it is like losing an arm...sure, I can still wave, masturbate, and hold a fork, but that doesn't mean that I don't miss it.

I appreciate the warm invitation.  I'll be completely straight with you here - I'm done with starting 360 games (except ones that are to come only on 360, like South Park and Fable Anniv).  With the X1 out and a baby coming in Dec, I'll be lucky if I have time for the new system as well as my huge backlog of old games I already want to finish.  Can't look back anymore, no time.

So, I propose that I'll play with you guys in F5 when you're on, and hope that Turn 10 updates to add more functionality that you like to the game.

Here's what I think, based on what I hear, and what I've seen on you tube.

The more I hear about Forza 5, the more I love Forza 4.

Shadow, if you can find a copy on the cheap, it's well worth it.

Thank you Wheels for understanding. I was pretty sure it was nothing more than a dig (that's why I love this site and I'm as guilty as the next guy, probably even more so) but the fact of the matter is it did not translate that way and I'm guessing there are others "even in your parts of the world" that would take it much like I did. Maybe I'm wrong about that?

In any case no harm, no foul.

Forza 4 had FTP concepts in there, including the use of tokens purchased with real money.  Turn 10 obviously has expanded on that in Forza 5.  I don't mind giving folks the option of using real money to buy in-game content, GT6 is doing that, and GT5 had DLC cars that you bought and that showed up automatically in your game, but the prices need to be reasonable.

I genuinely like Forza 5.  Yes, it has less cars.  Yes, it has fewer tracks.  Yes, it is missing my favorite track; nurburgring.  However, with the smaller car livery, you can focus on making your niche in the category you like rather than feeling like you have to spread yourself all over the place with 500 cars.  Also with fewer tracks, come less of a learning curve.  You don't have the extra track to learn for those one or two races you may or may not race on them.

As for the microtransactions, I could careless about them.  They are there for people who want to use them as a shortcut, I am OK with that.  Some folks don't have the hours to put into the game and want their favorite cars right away.  I can't blame them for that.  Unless I dump some money into the microtransactions, they don't affect me.  So I don't mind them.

They graphics...  Some of the tracks are down right georgeous.  Then some are sorta bland.  However, I am not focusing on what is wizzing by beside me.  I am focused on the next curve or car ahead or beside me.  And those graphics are right on point.  The cars are absolutely B-E-A-U-TIFUL.

The controls are nice too.  The forced feedback with the XBox One Controller is a nice plus.  I actually let off the gas now if the forced feedback says I am pressing too hard, too fast on the gas, or if I am going to fast around a curve while braking, it tells me in the kind Forza Motorsport way.  It isn't as subtle as Forza 4 was.  Though I think the forced feedback is upgraded in the new controllers.  However, I could be wrong about that.

I think what people are failing to realize is this:  The game is ultimately a launch title.  What do we want from a launch title?  We want a good, serviceable game that will last us until the mass exodus of games is thrust upon us.  Forza Motorsports 5 does that, and I can see it lasting for awhile.  Turn 10 says they are releasing monthly car packs that'll be bundled with the Season Pass.  And lets be honest with one another:  If you're here and are playing Forza 5, you bought the Season Pass.  Enthusiast of the game always do.  If you didn't, then  you still can.  And if you object to Turn 10 suposedly holding back cars for DLC packs, you're way off into lala land and can't be reasoned with anyways.  I would imagine Turn 10 will release a few more tracks to go along with the Season Pass (as they always do), however that isn't confirmed yet.

I do object to Turn 10 holding back cars for DLC...especially when those cars were in previous iterations of the series...like the Z28 or the Alfa Brera. No one is holding a grudge against DLC releases, but when it comes out on the same day that the game releases, it's a shot to the nutsack. If you're satisfied with paying more and getting less then perhaps you are the one in "lala land". I'll understand if you disagree...I'm reasonable like that.

Begrudingly, I can see your point... to an extent.  I simply don't believe they hold stuff back to hold it back for future DLC though.  Maybe it's because I don't want to believe it.  Maybe because I hope it's because they are really coding more cars after they decided on a 'core list' (so to speak).  I know it takes a LONG TIME to code properly.  So I hope it's because they decided on a core list of cars and then decided on future DLC cars and started the DLC coding after most of the game was done.  However, I admit, it is possible that some companies could be holding back DLC.  I just would like to believe Turn 10 is one of the better companies out there and wouldn't do that.

However, I am very reasonable and believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions.  I also am reasonable enough to hear both sides of an argument and have a reasonable discussion about something even though I formed an opinion about the subject.  That way I can have an insight into the other opinion and form an intellegent thought as to why I have the opinion I have while maintaining some integrity.

Turn10 stopped releasing track DLC in FM4...Grenwald said track DLC is not profitable for them so after Norschlieffe (assuming that is not a lie) in January I wouldn't hold your breath for new tracks. Then again they may be raking in money hand over fist with the new token system so maybe all is not lost? :)

I could almost guarantee their raking in money hand over fist with that token system.  Imagine the young kids or teenagers that see the car(s) they want and spend their hard earned allowance or paycheck on buying those tokens.  Or worse the adults that pump $100's of dollars into that system.
