Solo'd the new NF today. Didn't use the cheese method either, though I did have the opportunity to see what that was all about.

That's awesome!

The structure under the gigantic blight has doors we used during the Shrine of Oryx. In this mission, they are closed. With a little luck, some minions open the top door. After entering the structure, got to the bottom 3 doors. They open when you turn tour back to them. You can attack from these doors. I don't know how long they stay open.

Something weird happened to my health bar while I was inside. It had a gap between health and shields. My guess is, you die if you are in there too long.

That bar you are talking about is something you'll see when using perks that give immediate health regen on kills - like Red Death. I use Red Death a lot on Crucible, so I know what you mean about the health bar looking strange. When you get a kill, your health immediately starts to refill, but the shield lags behind. So, it sounds like you are in a state of health regen.

Props to soloing the NF. What is the trick to avoiding the one-hit-kill balls of death Malok spits out after you've taken most of his health?

I used Titan defender. Save bubble until Malok uses his darts. Run to the cover in the upper door area. Super with blight inside. Shoot blight and two cabal. Wait for super to recharge before engaging Malok again. Shoot other blights and minions carefully. Collect ammo. Rinse and repeat.

Last night, I was in new Challenge of the Elders with two deaf gamers. In the second round, this one against the Cabal, damned Psonic flayers, and adds.

When Psonic flayers used void or arc or solar (V/A/S) shield frequencies, my weapons with V/A/S damage didn't have much effects in reducing their shields. I thought WTF? Seeing "Immune" several times when I shoot them.

Any idea?

Hmm, carry one weapon of each burm? Supercell - Arc, Sniper/shotgun - void, Heavy - solar?

There are 3 flayers - one of each shield. The boss will have one of the elemental shields so whichever shield he has, you'll kill the corresponding flayer and then the boss will be vulnerable for a DPS phase.

In other words:

Boss has Void shield, kill the Void flayer. Then the boss shield will recharge back to Arc or Solar and just rinse and repeat by killing the corresponding flayer and putting DPS on boss.

Try to kill the three Flayers before worrying about doing any boss damage, then you can handle the boss without worrying about what kind of shield he's sporting. Use those swords, esp. Raze Lignter, on the flayers.

With Bluestar's help, AARP  and I finished  one full trip through CoE. this week.

The Cabal section was the most difficult. All the shield colours were confusing me. Couldn't have done it without Bluestar. I get this panic colour blindness, or something.

Yes, it is the most difficult, especially with yellow-barred adds showing up as reinforcement and overlapping with Cabal boss and psionic flayers while shooting at us. It can get confusing sometimes.

FYI

Variks' point deduction in the Challenge of Elders is only 50 points every 45 seconds - so no need to panic when you see the message about him getting impatient and points being deducted.

Hey, in case you didn't know.... I found a dead ghost on the top of the tarp hanging over Variks' hut in the outpost. Go to where Variks is standing in front of his hut, turn left and walk toward the rail, look for the low-hanging tarp for which you can jump onto it. Walk a bit to the left and see the dead ghost.

Tip for this week's CoE - max out your Discipline (get it to T5) and equip yourself with a second grenade (e.g. Armamentarium, Young Ahamkara's Spine).

Ran a Voidwalker with Nothing Manacles and scatter grenades last night. As long as you are getting grenade kills, you'll almost always have another grenade ready. With the grenade bonuses, you can clear a CoE card in two rounds.

Two manning Thalnok in the Court of Oryx with a rando several times today. Couldn't have done it a month ago. Got my Artifact up to 333.

Nice! I should probably visit the court soon myself, I think my artifact is lagging behind my light level a bit.

Yes... we 3-manned the mini-Crota tier 3 Court several times a on Saturday. I got a couple artifacts at 333 and one a 327. This version of the tier 3 might be the easiest.

Seeing 334 level weapons right out of the gate in IB. Worth the effort.

I saw IB gear and weapons dropping like candy last night. My very first game I got a 331 bond to upgrade my 309 IB bond. I proceeded to get a 333 Rocket Launcher and two pair of boots 332 and 333 Light. I would say Bungie has FINALLY fixed Iron Banner drops.

My Light was hovering between 327 - 329 for all of these drops depending on what weapons I was trying.

Fun fact, Dreg's Promise is pretty beastly and helped me get my special weapon kills in about 3 games.

I can tell I'm going to struggle this IB. I much prefer objective based gametypes like Control or Rift over Clash. However, the gear is going to be worth the effort - especially for my alt characters.

So it seems Lord Shaxx REALLY wants me to start using a Rocket Launcher. I've had 6 drop this IB, ranging in Light from 331 to 335, sad thing is, none of them are very good rolls.

I still have not had the Auto Rifle drop, only one class item and 3 boots.

Hopefully I'll hit Rank 5 tonight then I'll move on to my alts.

Overall though, the loot drops are great. I've leveled up my Crucible rep 3 times, so use the Crucible Rep Boosters if you can - they make a big difference. Lots of infusion fuel that's allowed me to switch up my loadouts and not lose Light.

Lord Saladface's RL and AR seem to have the best rolls - take one of the high LL drops you get and infuse it into the vendor version.

Has anybody seen gauntlets, helmets, or chests drop? I've only seen boots and class items drop, but thankfully at a pretty good rate.

Really disappointed in the update. I'm already bored and sick of doing the same raid since September. Bungie better get some good new content out quick (fall is to long) or they are going to start to loose a lot of player base due to the lack of new content. Hell the update we got was so half-assed and overhyped.

To be fair Soul, it was never really hyped as a content update. Instead what we have now are multiple ways to reach max light or at least easily make it to 330.

The part I'm enjoying is actually being able to easily infuse stuff and have options on armor and weapons.

I get what you are saying though about it being a long time until the Fall (or whenever we'll get more actual content), but for those of us that enjoy the grind of collecting, this update is more about quality of life improvements to make Destiny easier to play.

I have plenty to do playing my 3 different characters.

Play your highest light character as much as possible, transfer your highest light weapons and gear to the next character, and only use your highest light character to decrypt exotic engrams.

The tier 3 Court of Oryx is dropping 335 artifacts if your light is 334. Killing the wizard is not all that difficult this week.

I now have 335 boots for all three characters -- actually got 6 in all, discarded 2 and saved 1 of the excess because it had a slightly different roll. I also got a couple of AR's and a RL at 335 which I infused in weapons I like to play.  Also got several exotic drops from the 3 of coins, the last of which were boots -- I can hear Bungie laughing.

After all 3 characters got to level 5 I grinded some more to get a 335 Ghost and a 335 Titan Mark.  Got the Mark today, but sitll looking for the Ghost.

Looks like the armor drops were mainly boots and Marks -- or their equivalent, although I think I saw an artifact.  The equipment drops were AR, RL, and Ghost.

The IB drops were awesome this time. The end-of-game drops were limited to the items Salad was selling - boots, class item, AR and RL - and IB Ghost. The Rank 5 packages could drop any IB gear - I got two IB scout rifles and gloves from my 3 Rank 5 packages.

Also, using the crucible boosters helped me rank up my crucible rep and get some nice loot too.

Finally, I think Bungie has found the way to make IB worth the grind.

My only disappointment was that I still didn't get the new IB ship. In fact I never saw it drop during any of the games I played, so it's very rare.
