series races we do on-line??? NO, never under 5 minutes, far from it. Close to half our series races are too long for the current cut-off of around 30 minutes or so.
What can you do in a private FM4 multiplayer lobby that you cannot in FM5?
you cant save a race replay so there car be no stewarding if there is a problem and lets face it we race with church so its bound to happen , not to mention the party chat thingy for getting the room together

The replay situation, sure. The party chat invite thing just makes it needlessly complicated, not impossible. We still could do races. Surely they're going to bring back multiplayer replay saves. Maybe.
Another thing that concerns me is new members in a year our two. If they have just got the game and as no one can gift anything how can they run events. If they have to grind away they won't stay for long. The whole gifting of tunes, cars, credits, paints, vinyls everyone does here is something I'm very proud of and helps new players immediately get in the action.
Tunes can be shared manually via the forums. Type out the parts used and the settings of the tune. Pain? Yes, absolutely, but they can still be shared. You can look up paints by owner and run whatever and whoever's paints you want, of course if you want your number on the side the painter will have to make one for each driver as they are locked. Pain, absolutely, but they can still be shared.
I do agree on being able to share credits with new members that don't have time to grind for credits. It is because of these stupid tokens. However that is the only caveat I see.

Can anyone tell me if there is a limit on how many paints you can share?
As I can see popping a paint out and then , I dunno, 30 with different numbers for some buddies? Of course someone else in lala land may also run the car with your number on it, but if he's not in any of our lobbies, I guess it doesn't matter?
Almost all online racing community are staying with Forza 4 for a while or flipping to GT6 (TORA VTCC etc)
Maybe they will add these features in with an update. They could also let people use there wheels too.
Also maybe this is just Forza 4.5 and Forza 6 will be out in a year.
Kind of funny though how all the features Forza had over GT have switched over
Mon, 11/11/2013 - 15:38 by Parcells8
What to expect in GT6? OR what Parcells expects/hopes
1) All cars available to purchase at ANY time - check, confirmed...my biggest gripe with GT5 by a huge margin
2) Ability to drive(practice) the track before the host starts the race - unknown, a current GT5 feature (Parcells favorite feature over Forza by a huge margin) so no reason to expect it to change I dearly hope.
3) Much better GUI system/features - unknown, currently Forza destroys GT5 in game features and ease of use by a huge margin and part of that is the on-line systems (Xbox-live is better than playstation network). But Sony knows it sucks so surely this can be improved considerably. Right now you can only save 3 tunes per car and no way to gift them to anyone (could probably email someone the system created file I guess?? - never tried but even if you can very inconvenient) which is such a nice convenience with Forza. Even when practicing/tuning in GT5 you cannot "pause" the game like you can in Forza, you have to exit race mode and tune in the lobby, overly time consuming Parcells no like. That said you can tune your car in an on-line lobby so go figure.
All of the concerns you guys have expressed are valid, because they are important to you. Parcells, I also was pissed that my rig (which cost far more than $1000, ) would not work with Forza 5. The difficulty with sharing paints and tunes is a problem, as is the lack of car clubs. Some of that can be bypassed. For example, friends lists on the Xbox One now can total up to 1000, which mitigates the impact of a lack of car clubs. The number of cars and tracks has been dramatically reduced, but the cost of the game is higher when you take into account the limited edition, DLC, etc. That being said, even with all of the differences between Forza 4 and Forza 5, Forza 5 is still a great game IMO, that is worth playing. I already am of the opinion that I like it better than Forza 4. The car and track selection is more diverse, particularly with the open wheel options they added, they got rid of the shitty NASCAR knock off oval racing, the Drivatars are more fun to race against than the AI in the prior games, the Xbox Live chat is much more clear, the graphics are much better (although far from perfect and not on par with PC sims, including iRacing, Assetto Corsa and Project CARS) and the Xbox One controller is better at connecting me to the car and track, mostly because of the force feedback in the triggers. But, that is only my subjective take. If the game lacks features you feel you must have to enjoy it, then do not buy it.
I do have some concerns about this but I’ll wait and see how the career earnings are. Whether these prices are cheaper than Forza’s or not they still seem VERY high to me and I’ll probably never ever go that route. But what matters is how much grinding will I have to do to acquire cash to purchase cars. FM5 took it to one extreme to the next but I’m hoping GT6 (and expecting to be perfectly honest) is at least reasonable (they did say award cars will be present – that’s something Forza took away completely – along with just about every other option to acquire credits/cars).
It may be as bad as Forza, we’ll find out soon enough but I’m hopeful because when GT5 came out it was the worse grind I’ve ever encountered BUT they fixed it rather quickly (and not just a bone with freebies and half price cars for a weekend – they actually fixed the dismal economy) based on the beat down they took (much like Turn10 today) so I doubt it’ll be as frustrating as FM5 seems to be. That coupled with the FACT PD makes improvements to their game quite often (10 times more updates to GT5 vs. FM4 to-date) and that Yamagushi guy or whatever the creators name is has a personal goal to make GT the best simulation racing game ever which is exactly what I want too so I feel confident GT6 will not screw us over as it “appears” Turn 10 is doing with FM5.
Also, those that talk about $1000 plus rigs - am I wrong or can't you just pop out your current wheel, sell it, and buy the new one? i know the wheels cost around $400, the ones I've seen. Not near $1000.

The problem is that my Fanatec Clubsport wheel and pedals work with PC and PS3. They do not work with the Xbox One. In order to have a wheel and pedal set for Xbox One, I would have to remove my Clubsport wheel and pedals and replace them with the inferior, but still solid, Thrustmaster TX wheel and pedals, which work on Xbox One and PC, but do not apparently work on PS3. Parcells has a similar problem, except he has the Fanatec CSR Elite wheel to go along with his Clubsport pedals. I am not willing to go with an inferior wheel and pedal set that lacks PS3 compatibility for GT6 to get Xbox One compatibility, particularly because I am liking the controller experience with Forza 5 on the Xbox One.
What do you guys think is going to happen to Gran Turismo eventually? They're going to push microtransactions harder because even though there are smart people like us, there are an equal amount of idiots that pay for things like tokens. These people have shown themselves on FM.net. Once Polyphony realizes there is profit in it and they can create even more profit by catering the game towards the purchase of microtransations, you think they won't? They're a company out for profit, pure and simple.

Hopefully the massive backlash this had caused on FM5 shows the devs that we don't want this and the shy away from then in Fprza 6 and GT6 and 7
If the backlash about tokens and microtransactions were big enough, and profits little enough, maybe then they would be abolished. It doesn't work like that though, the hard core sim racing players is of the minority until the end of the cycle of the game. Join a public lobby and it's readily apparent. They're making money on tokens hand over fist and don't give a shit what we think. Polyphony will figure this out.

That or they do the opposite and make die hard Forza fans in to GT fans (Like me) who are going to play GT6 (and fm4 btw) until gt7 is out. But it's not the tokens etc that im pissed at, it's the fact that T10 has just basically took a massive dump on the club's / communities and made a game for the timmies

If it gets that bad, and FM6 is the same or worse, hopefully Project Cars turns out good. I have no intentions on buying another entirely new console to play a single racing game, and I'm sure I'm not completely alone in that. I know a lot of you are willing to do this, though. All the people I've been gaming with for years are on Xbox and MS has their teeth in me with my gamerscore, I will freely admit. Until then, while I am disappointed in a few missing features and changes of FM5, I am having a lot of fun with it and still find it a very good game.
Also I really do belive micro transitions don't need to be in a game. Look at GTA. If they make the game solid enough from the start the will make over a billion dollar's :)

Have they changed it? I bought GTA V on release and online was a grind fest for money, but surprise surprise, you could buy GTA money with real money. Same thing happening in FM5. Turn the game into a grind for virtual money but also sell that virtual money for real money.
I had several (not many) successful online races with friends. Even tried F1. The chat was much more clearly and less choppy.
The friends invite thing seems to be general XB1 problem, not specific to FM5.
New tracks (Yas Marina, Spa, Bathurst, return of Bugatti, Prague) and the refreshed old tracks make the game play fresh.
Not having a car club does make sharing or pick-up&play a little inconvenient, but not impossible. I do hope T10 brings this back.
As for race incidents, I think T10 took it out (or was ordered to take it out) because of the DVR feature. Instead of watching 15 minutes of replay (or fast forwarding) now XB can record last 20 seconds (?!?). It is not the same, of course, and you cannot view it at all angles so not convenient either. But it is an option.
I've played Forza 5 for about 15 hours in total and earned about 1,000,000 credits. I also play with no assists and hardest drivatars.
I was initially bummed about the no free cars, no selling cars and high prices, but it feels like not having so much freedom has actually given me better focus on what I do have to drive.
I started off with a Honda civic and to keep my payouts high, the next car I bought was a Honda NSX-R to keep my affinity rating/bonus rising.
I've done the vast majority of my racing in the NSX and after starting out being absolutely incapable of even cornering with a rear wheel drive car at speed I know that thing inside out and have now started getting so good with it that I can set top 5% times with it. Its also the first time I've spent hours messing with properly tuning/testing my upgrades instead of just running to a new car when I can't go faster.
I redeemed my 3,000,000 credit and free car reward this morning, yet I've spent this evening lapping and racing in my NSX-R. Not spent a penny or touched any of the new cars.
It feels like that car is way more...' important' to me than cars have been in previous Forza games. Its nowhere near easy to drive and even though I know I could probably find another car to compete with the Ferraris/koennigseggs and McLaren F1s the game keep throwing at me, it feels like 'my' car in Forza 5.....from the time spent driving it to learning how to set it up how I like.
When I save up my credits for the super expensive cars I want to buy (the lotus e21 pls) I guess ill have the same feeling of attachment.
By this time in previous Forza games id have a bunch of cars id be either swapping/ignoring/only using for one race/buying parts for and not tuning them at all.
For reference of how I race, I spend most of my time in free play doing races with high number of laps, trying to drive as clean as possible, then watching replays of the races. The same thing I do with my other favourite racing game Project Cars. I only drive the Formula B in that game.
For the more casual guy, I guess this system is obviously going to play on impatience, but imo as long as the progression system doesn't actually make it impossible to buy the cars you want, its not a problem for me. Like I said, two, weeks to get 1,000,000 credits means that I can easily unlock the cars that I want before year end.
Yes its more of a grind, but longer progression systems aren't inherently bad and in my case its done some good for me I'm terms of how I treat Forza games and the cars I have.
well written review from a casual player who is getting out of the game exactly what Turn10 is preaching and clearly enjoying it. Good for him. But he's unlike most of us I would guess??
Some months I dont even get 15 hours of Forza in and anything over 20 would be a great month. I want to race my Forza buddies.
This massive dump you talk about is directly related to tokens. Can't sell cars back to the dealership, can't gift cars, no auction house, all of it is in effort to sell tokens.
That's what saddens Parcells the most and has me concerned about FM6 and beyond.
If the game market (game racing market is ALL I care about) inevitably goes this direction so be it. Keep your stupid token system but for the love of God please start offering other options to scam more money out of us like offering subscriptions to play FM6. $5.00 a month seems reasonable if they put back all the good shit they took out of FM5 AND open everything up so I can own/upgrade every car and race every track (of which of course their would be more) with minimal to no effort (read no grind). Most of us here just want to race with each other and there's only so much money to be won in on-line races, especially with this crowd when the slighest slip up costs you a position or more fucken bastards!

curious - is earning cars over time through work important to you, or would you just like all cars unlocked and bought already at the start, as a playground? serious question - new to racing, but I thought part of the fun was the work to get cars.

It was in FM1 and FM2 but been there done that, very tired/bored of doing that again and again so yes open everything up. I just want to race my Forza buddies.

Personal. Totally open with everything ready for me to make events. I use Forza as a playground not really a game as in a really game like Halo or gta etc but somewhere just to race with my buddies with no restrictions on what we do but our imagination

Personally, I like to earn each car, take the time to tune and tweak it, but I also like to window shop knowing that eventually I will have every car personally tuned and tweaked. Never been a fan of credit glitches or cheats to get rich fast, just not my style. I don't even really like to race in a lobby until I have the necessary base cars in every class...I don't mind grinding.

Well, here's my input into this whole debacle.

Just my 'pinion.
well written review from a casual player who is getting out of the game exactly what Turn10 is preaching and clearly enjoying it. Good for him. But he's unlike most of us I would guess??
Some months I dont even get 15 hours of Forza in and anything over 20 would be a great month. I want to race my Forza buddies.
