add ons on the X1 seem to be broken.  I bought the VIP membership and it's nowhere to be found after I installed it.  I've killed Forza, rebooted, etc.  It does not recogonize that I bought it and it hasn't given me any cars.

Weird.  well, I bought it on Wed.  I'll have to check

Either way, it's DLC.  It should automatically show up.

flyboy I sent you a message. Check it.

But to clarify in general my point was that you admitted to not missing some of the things from FM4 because you haven't spent much time with it (I thought  hell I may need to go re-read). Because of this it's hard to understand why some people are so bent out of shape about things that are missing.

But my reply and choice of words were a bit brash.

If you race with me online you would likely not get any sort of impression that I was a jerk.

Gentlemen,

We have had too many discussions go in the wrong direction in these forums. Everyone calm down and just accept that we will not all agree on thoughts about FM4 or 5.  If you are usually not here and haven't participated in "organized" races. Remember that you are always welcomed to post here, ask questions and be part of any discussio. Personally, I understand that not everyone wants to or can participate in one of our many organized events. And that isp erfectly okay.  But if you find the time and you have the inclination to do so please accept a sincere invitation to join any event that catches your interest.  FM5 is a very nice looking game and the physics are also very good.  There are redeming qualities to the game. As a matter of fact, I have to admit that although I am extremely disappointed with what has been done to the community features (at least that's what I have decided o call them), the increased emphasis on micro transactions (although I have to say, the actual cost of some of these virtual cars far exceeds the level of a "micro" transaction) and the lack of content compared to previous versions... I am still playing FM5. With that being said, please take a moment to think things through and try not to take differing views personally.

For those of you who are usually not around and racing with us: I hope that at some point you find your way into one of our casual lobbies. You would have a great time.  Thanks

-Snappy Dee aka Gentleman Racer

Few car we cant drive before because they are to much heavy or tire size too small ... look to be fixed Yeah!!!!
like 95 MR2 you can have: 285 wide in the back look on forza 4 i think it was 245 max so it was a bad cars lol

Rival Mode:
like if they include all class / all track to make Time Trial in rival mode so now in time trial you earn XP & Money

Painting:
Flat paint / Carbon paint / flat carbon paint / gold / chrome / metalflake /  copper (weird but yeah cool :P)
3000 layers on side
1000 layers front / back

Online Racing:
They add like race category (sorry english issue right there lol) like Spec race i think ... lobby with only few kind of cars limited to a class so like Rally production car its lobby only for Escort / lancer / subaru ... (much more then that ... sport compact / early euro and many more) Tired of Lotus go in these lobby lol

Offline Racing :
Difficulty: Hardest mode : Not easy lol Really funny (see bad point offline racing)

Hey guys.  I finally got an Xbox One on Thanksgiving night during the Best Buy Midnight Madness event.  I bought Forza 5 Limited Edition on disk, plus I got Ryse Son of Rome via the Xbox game store.  Here are my thoughts on the Xbox One, Forza 5 and Ryse Son of Rome.

First, as many of you know, I was back and forth on whether to get an Xbox One and Forza 5.  I ultimately decided to take the plunge because the Fanatec wheel incompatibility ended up not being that huge of a deal for me, and because I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of reviews and I realized that I wanted to be part of the Xbox One and Forza 5.  I was a Day 1 purchaser of Forza 1-4 and I wanted to be part of Forza 5.  As many of you know, I also was heavily into Forza but then got burned out on Forza 4 and turned primarily to PC racing.  Lets just say that the Xbox One and Forza 5 have rekindled the Forza fire in me, but to be fair, they are no a replacement for my gaming PC and my favorite sim, iRacing.  smiley

The Xbox One is a wonderful piece of kit.  The packaging is top notch, which was my first clue, after the price tag, that I was getting a premium quality product.  I am so glad they went back to black, the original 360 was so ugly compared to the original Xbox and the Xbox One, both of which have a black color scheme.  The console itself is big, but it looks like it has plenty of ventilation.  Perhaps M$ has learned something from the 360?  Speaking of the 360, the guys at Best Buy pushed the Best Buy protection plan hard, in part because of the 360 red rings deal.  When I said no, they said "OK, you are gambling."  LOL!!!  Anyway, set up was a breeze.  The update took about 5 minutes with my wired Internet connection.  Kinect set up was a pain because I am not using speakers for game sound.  Rather, I have an Astro A40 headset hooked up via optical.  I eventually got Kinect to work.  The Kinect by the way is really heavy and appears built to last.  I am glad it is included, since that means it is here to stay and developers will use it.  I have not found it to work very well, I have to yell "Xbox On" several times in order for Kinect to turn on the system.  Even then, I don't see the point since I have to press the Xbox button on the controller to get up and running.  The controller feels awesome.  It is bulkier than the 360 controller, indeed it reminds me of the original Xbox "Duke" controller, but in a good way.  It fits my hands just fine.  The new Xbox OS is very slick.  It is snappy and fast and I found everything relatively easy to find.  It is a variant of the Windows 8 Metro start screen, which I generally like.  So, overall, I am very pleased with the console.  The only downside is that Dolby Digital 5.1 was not ready even after the Day 1 update but I have read that is coming.  For now, I am "stuck" with stereo sound.  All games are available from the Xbox store and so if you want to go entirely digital, you can.  Forza 5 likely is my last disk purchase for the Xbox One, I plan to buy everything else digitally, with the only possible exceptions being the next couple of Forza games, since I like to get the disk collectors editions.

As to Forza 5, I am very happy with it after 8-12 hours of game play, all in single player career, free mode and rivals.  I have not yet tried multiplayer.  The graphics are indeed great, as are the sounds.  There are still some jaggies and aliasing, but they are not nearly as prevalent as they were with the 360, particularly Forza 4 (Indy was the worst).  Surprisingly, I really like playing with the controller!!!  I think that is primarily because the Xbox One controller has force feedback and so I can better feel what the car is doing.  When I play Forza 5, I do not miss my wheel and pedals.  The Drivatar feature is definitely next gen and it makes single player much more interesting and immersive.  The driving of the Drivatars is definitely more human like and unpredictable.  It is so cool to race against you guys via the Drivatar feature.  I love it!  The track selection is diverse, but like many of you, I would have liked to have seen more.  I also miss the fantasy tracks, including Camino and Maple Valley.  The car selection is also good, it is lacking in sheer numbers, but it is very diverse.  I am so glad that the Mazda 787 is in there, that is one of my favorite sim racing cars of all time.   The E21 F1 car is fun to drive, but it is no substitute for F1 2013 on the PC with triple screens.  If F1 is your thing, get F1 2013.  As to the game economy, they definitely have changed things.  Credits are harder to come by, but I also have not felt the need to switch cars very often.  I have not used the micro-transaction stuff, although I am sure I will find an excuse to use my 1250 free tokens soon.  I would like to see Turn 10 do more gift cars.  The Gran Turismo method is much better, where if you buy the DLC cars, you get them in game, no need to separately purchase them.  With any luck, Turn 10 will see the light and start giving us more cars.  I like the feature where you can get a paint job from the cloud.  I do not mind that we don't get a free car when we level up or finish a series.  Rather, every time you finish a race you get credits, like previous games, but you also get 31,000 credits every time you level up.  I would have liked to have seen scaling of level up rewards, where the amount increases with each level.  Perhaps they will change that too?  I also like that you get credits for Rivals and Free Play.  Very cool.  The lack of triple screens is not a big deal.  Forza 4 did not work very well with the triples because it was very hard to adjust them and get them right.  That is partly why I abandoned Forza 4 and sold the extra Xbox 360s.  Forza 5 is all road racing and accordingly triples are not as big of a deal.  They have become essential for my iRacing oval racing, since they allow me to see the cars or trucks to my left or right.  Overall, Forza 5 is not Forza 4 with better graphics.  Rather, it is really a completely new racing game, with its pros and cons.  IMO, any sim racing fan with an Xbox One should get this game, assuming the lack of community building features is not a deal breaker for you.

Ryse Son of Rome is what I expected.  Good graphics, great sound, but it is definitely shallow.  I am a sucker for the whole Gladiator Roman soldier story and so Ryse works for me.  Read some reviews before you buy it.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.  I am very happy with my Xbox One purchases.  Buy with confidence.

Switch to the wheel and both problems are solved ;)

It comes on with the voice command since it's wired.

Hey Shadow  -

There's definitely something wrong with the VIP and add-ons.  Turn 10 has admitted to the problem and have issued a statement.  You should seen the add-ons appear yesterday  or Friday.  They also gifted the Lotus F1, the Ferrari F12 and several other cars.  You should check your messages to download them.  THey are are also addressing the issue with the Tokens and I also believe the payouts.  Lastly, all of the cars available in the game are half off the credit price, so buy up now.

yeah, thanks LF19.  I've read all about those things but have yet to get any messages or crown for VIP.  I knew about the half price cars and bought a bunch last night - I'm trying to to bump my rewards level up to snag another 2 million and by more before it hits noon Pacific today.

Yeah, I used some of my free credits tonight.  I used roughly 500 of them with 750 or so left.  The impression I'm left with?  The microtransactions are NOT for me.  I looked to see how much the credits actually were.  To get 10,000 of them you have to spend $49.99.  10,000 credits will get you two top of the line cars since those cost roughly 5,000 credits.  There are less crazier options but the credits are so few that it won't get you very far unless you're trying to buy a $12,000 car.  But at that point why not just shell out the $12,000 from your earnings or race once or twice for the $12,000 rather than paying the real money for the credits?

I can see why Turn 10 went to the Microtransactions the way they did.  I just wish they would have kept it reasonable like they did in FM4.  They severely limited their audience that'll buy the microtransactions at those prices.  Albeit, the audience that are into those things will buy them in bulks that we can not fathom, which will make them EXTREMELY profitable for Turn 10.

Other than the Microtransactions?  I am STILL loving Forza 5. =o)

PS: I am fracking SICK AND TIRED of seeing Nunderw00b's drivertar passing my on the last lap of EVERY FUCKING race!!!

Yeah I meant credits, not tokens.  Tokens are mostly a rip.  Free credits from leveling your tier up in the forza rewards site is awesome.

So was out shopping nipped in game and spent past hour on Forza 5. Apart from a small crowd gathering around watching me was fun. Loved the graphics and physics (a lot more slidey) but the new pad is horrible. The pad was from behind the counter. The analog sticks and triggers felt really really light and felt like they was nothing there, Personally I like a bit of resistance. I know this isn't a Forza issue but yeah.

I did like the list of damaged parts that did come up after a bit of testing but at least I know what it feels like now even though it was only for an hour. If I had an Xbox One for other games I would possibly buy it but considering the only games I play play racing ones personally I dint think it is worth it.

Don't forget FM6 and Project Cars.

And it looks like T10 is at least making an effort to please some of the people playing FM5. I'm going to get both. Just probably won't be until next summer.

I own 53 cars currently (no dupes).  I've not paid for anything with money, EXCEPT the VIP which I still haven't received so I guess that's moot.

Forza Rewards is pretty awesome.

I own 53 cars currently (no dupes).  I've not paid for anything with money, EXCEPT the VIP which I still haven't received so I guess that's moot.

Forza Rewards is pretty awesome.

What happened to only using 4 or 5 cars? cool

haven't decided which cars those are yet cheeky  The Ford Fiesta ST (500) is nice handling, and the Ferrari F40 is too.

if I have the CR, might as well use them.  I'm not pining for any cars but I bought all the ones I could afford with CR, because why not?

Will not purchase Tokens, ever.

Will not purchase DLC for cars that were in previous Forza.

Think I picked up about 10 cars over the weekend.  So far, the most gratifying car purchase in FM5 has been '62 Ferrari 250 GTO.

I won't purchase tokens not because I don't have the money, or because I'm against it - but because compared to just playing and using Credits, it's just a ripoff ratio-wise.  So easy to get CR - why would I buy tokens that seem worthless when it comes to car prices?  There's something off about it.
