hey I'll take the case of beer bet :) it already works on the vita (with more than just a few Sony titles).
Current ones do not coun't... lol. But I'll give you a case of America's finest commercially domestic beer made today!
It's called FUCKING CLOSE TO WATER!
oh I realize the vita doesn't count - simply stating that it already works on one of their systems so I'm sure that will on the PS4. Can my beer be of the Canadian variety?

I don't think so. At least not the way I've heard that joke: "What do Coors Light and sex in a canoe have in common?"

I say it as: How is Domestic Beer and sex in a canoe alike?
Confirmed just now - the free games now from Xbox Live Gold are not disabled or removed if the subscription lapses or is cancelled. This is in contrast to the PS+ payments being required for those free games.

Quality of games is also a factor though. We're talking 5-6 year old games for 2 out of 3 of the first ones.

Is quality dependant on age? I consider Myst to be a very high quality game, but it was a killer app that helped sell... CD-ROM drives.
That said, yeah old games aren't the best thing ever especially if they are things people already played to death or have no reason to start playing now. I'll grab Halo 3 simply as insurance against my physical disc getting lost or damaged. Another great thing about digital games eh? Doesn't mean I'll play Halo 3 the moment I download it though, but I'll be able to if I want even if I cancel my Xbox Live Gold.
Its not bad, but the value added varies and may be negligible.

Quality is dependent on age - since you can purchase any of those for under $10 each. As opposed to Sony offering relatively new games that still fetch a higher price.
At this point Halo 3 online is pointless, as it's pretty dead if you're just starting out. Plus having zero of the map packs will make it even more dead. Campaign, sure, if you haven't played it yet. But that's about it. ACII is great, but there have been 3 games since. Fable III........ not a great game. But free is a good price for it.
I actually considered the PS4 for a moment and then I remembered the Halo in 2014 presentation. I can't do without Halo. I don't plan to buy both consoles. Halo comes first.
When I buy the XB1, is now a question of convenience and timing.
New Matchmaking details on SmartMatch - "Your console is your lobby."
Reputation information - Entire reputation system overhauled, new one based on how you play, and in the right ways. Rep goes down for driving the wrong way intentionally or headshoting noobs while trash talking. Users AND the game can know when someone is playing like a dick, and both the game and the user reports factor in. Users with high rep may be encouraged to play together.
They are not counting information reported by users anywhere near as heavily if they haven't actually played with the user they are reporting. This prevents a large group from ruining some dudes rep when they've never played with him, or haven't played with him together recently for example.
More information Rep will beon majornelson.com shortly it seems.
I think quality is separate from price too though Shadow. Compare the quality of $60 Aliens Colonial Marines at launch to the quality of $20 State of Decay at its launch. One is less expensive, is it also less quality of a game? Are all free to play games completely lacking quality? Was World of Tanks offensive to include on Xbox 360 since the price is free?
I agree with most of that though, it isn't a compelling reason to switch to gold from free, these particular games aren't as exciting with regards to the free games program as some alternative titles would have been, and because they were hits and are old people who really wanted to play them may have already.
The added value is small, and may have no added value for some people too. However, that does not mean it is a bad thing to include.
Overall, what interests me about this program is that it comes this close to Xbox One launch... and at the same time is only stated to run for the months between now and launch of Xbox One. Why is that?
My guess - the program continues on Xbox One. Included with Gold? Maybe. Included with an unnannouced more expensive membership tier? Possible too.
Its not -bad- to have now, but at the same time what is the purpose of this limited time offer? It may be to prepare people for something similar on Xbox One or simply a minor gesture to show some kind of love for Xbox 360 people who aren't going to Xbox One right away if at all.
I think we're on the same page Shadow - the games offered could have been more desirable and relevant to today, but it isn't a terrible thing Microsoft did here to include it.
Still don't know which console I'll pick. It really doesn't matter as most of the games I want will be out for both. Plus, the specs line up pretty even.

I'm the same with Forza. There is only one system that will have it. How all this bitching will affect the site and 2Old4Forza is another matter.

Easy fix - canoe is on land! What this means for Vita I have no idea, but I'm going with it.

it's not terrible. It's just not showing that they know what games are relevant right now and ones that might make people buy XBL Gold to play.
That assumes this is a ploy to get more people to sign up for Gold, which it very well may not be at this point.
It might not be meant as any kind of intention to get more silver to gold conversions.
I wouldn't assume they're out of touch based on an intention I cannot know, which may be incorrectly assumed.
As I mentioned about Reputation here is the link - http://majornelson.com/2013/06/11/xbox-one-smart-match/
Reputation was supposed to work for the 360. Don't really have any faith it will on the xbone either. We'll see.

I'm very happy to see the "puck" making a return on headsets.
I like the puck. However, Astro A50's flip up mic is very nice as well.
I want to see what Astro will offer. I'm already selling my A40's, and keeping my A50's for PS4.
Has anyone ever looked at a gamer's "reputation" before gaming with them??

The Live coverage starts again today with Major Nelson - tune in on Xbox 360.
Going to cover a ton of games, including Sunset Overdrive and Witcher 3.
All I want to know is if Astros will make an adapter for my A40s for whatever console.
Might not help, but here is this -
