Sorry I need to clarify. I don't think they'd share gold options among those 10 peeps with the games. What I mean is..... say I buy Live gold.....does that also cover my fiance if we have 2 separate Xbox Ones?

Or is it just your buying gold for that specific console, and whatever gamertags you have on that console are covered by gold?

I'm curious because it it came to the point where we got an Xbone, and we both wanted to use it, then later on we got a 2nd one and either she or I migrated my stuff to that 2nd Xbone, would the gold carry over or would I have to get gold for both consoles?

no I think the account that buys gold has gold, and all tags on that console at the tag are gold by association, but only on that box.

The family plan sounds like it could save a lot of money for those able to use it.

I don't disagree but I'm shocked that the developers/publishers are alright with the fact that every 10 people essentally only have to buy 1 copy of the game. Multiplayer titles like COD and Halo aren't worried I'm sure, but any single player or more casual game wouldn't require more than 1 out of 10 to buy a copy.

How do they feel today if 10 people pass a disc around when they are done with a single player game?

^^ this.  I don't see how someone can be all "go PS4!!!" for used and lent games and then question why a system and publishers would allow digital sharing.  It's the exact same thing, with less gas money.

I believe its account/gamertag based Gatsu - its my best guess though.

They have confirmed gold for everyone on a gold owner's console, but you bring up a good thing to ask about multiple consoles.

Personally, I'd like more details on adding members and games to a family system.  For example, is one persone the owner per game and the rest just members who can borrow it?

I thought it was pretty obvious, as stated a few times before, that only one person can play a shared game at one time.  That goes with how you share disc games now - if my friend has it, I can't play it.  And vice versa.  You will each buy a copy of a multiplayer game you want to play, especially with each other.  People aren't going to be sharing Call of Duty games, for example.

Its owner + 1 family member at most for Family plan.  Distance is not required, blood relationship not required, members added later etc

"Its owner + 1 family member at most for Family plan."

Where's this stated? Unless you mean only the owner and one family member accessing at any one time? Which seems to be accurate, still a little iffy...

So, this is perpetuated by peer pressure and not wanting to have a badly perceived image in the group?

Well hell, most of the people I hang with already have that of me and/or themselves! Have you met Jones, not to single out or influence your perception or opinion of him,but he is the epitome of "What, me care" around here, and one of my idols. Have you met Gunny? I could go on...

I think what you allude to is more of a weakness of character or personality more so than a problem with the system, and while it may be exploited as you say, so are many others on a daily basis. The root of the issue is self esteem and self worth.

Personally, if I found out someone was pressuring people in the manner you descirbe, I'd be all over them like the crabs on a sailor returning from a 3 day leave in NY! I hate bullies...

Can't two people (one GT and guest) play Halo 4 at the same time? Are there other games that allow two gold gamers to play on the same console on live? Borderlands perhaps?

It seems the person who bought the game, or rather, the person who first associates it with their own gamertag is the "owner" in a family plan.  The article and Xbox page seem to say that "owner" can always play the game. Another family member can play the game too.

It also seems that what can't happen is if the owner is not playing it and a family member borrows it, a second family member cannot borrow it too.

It doesn't seem to be two people at once, but owner + one member at most, which is a difference to note.

If this is accurate, then that means the person who bought the game will never run into an issue of the game they bought is already in use by a family member so they can't play.

It also means 2 player co-op just got a lot cheaper, even across multiple consoles.

With the steam-like possible sales/discounts, and family plan, this looks very value centric.

Granted, I'm still hoping the 24 hour timeframe becomes a 1 week timeframe minimum... it'd be longer than Lou's hurricane outtage then at least :P

Great article on how the Xbone isn't and never will be Steam.

Article contains false information right off the bat about Steam.  I'll keep reading, but lost hope in anything worthwhile left right away.

Yeah, wasn't much of note.  After all, game prices and sales have nowhere close to been announced on Xbox One.  The timeframe this article dude lists for Steam offline mode isn't correct.  The Xbox Live subscription is different, sure.  Kind of like how it being a physical console is different than Steam's software client?

I can play any and all non-mmo games from Steam offline. I can take my computer completely off of the net and still play any of my steam titles that are installed on my system by launching them from the desktop icon. Where this is not possible with the Xbone. I don't know what you're saying is false info about Steam.

I think what the article was trying to say is that there's really no motivation for Microsoft to lower it's prices on any of the titles. They have had ample opportunity to lower prices with digital distribution with Xbox Live and have never done so. Usually when there's a "Sale" on the 360 you can find those titles cheaper on Steam. They force developers to charge consumers for things they want to give away for free and have thrown countless third party developers/indie under the bus in the name of profit. Take Oddworld for example, which will launch on every platform except the Xbone, because they do not use a separate publisher for their game.

I really doubt MS can reasonably compete directly against its main retail partners without getting them upset. Otherwise the Walmarts of the world would stop distributing their products.

Sony does.  Why not?  Sony has sales all the time and they give away free games on Plus.

Not around here. Sony stores were reluctant to undercut Futureshop for example. To clarify, I'm not talking about sales. I mean normal retail pricing.

yeah I'm talking about Sony pricing on PSN as opposed to in stores.  Sometimes digital is cheaper.

Steam sales are a huge draw.  Summer one is a huge event to look forward to on Steam.  I'll gladly take such a thing on Xbox.

Tidbits of official information -

Smartglass (such as your iPad or Android Phone) can turn on/off your console, manage your cable box, and find multiplayer matches.

Xbox Live Gold is starting at the same price it is now on Xbox 360 - $60/year MSRP

Skype group video which normally costs extra on Skype is included in the price of Xbox Live Gold

GameDVR can do editting tricks such as slowmotion or adding voiceovers.  Montage stuff, for sure lol

More details and the full letter here - http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/e3-marc-whitten

edit: It appears now that Gamescom in August is the next media conference type event for Xbox.  After that there is Tokyo Game Show in September, but for now it looks like August is the next time for big announcement type stuff.  An actual release date for example.

All good stuff, but won't the Kinect part Duex do all that I put in blue?

Yeah, it seems that way Oldschool.  The smartglass stuff I guess is an alternative to Kinect for those things.

Accurate. If you (you being a chick in this scenario) had a mic in the old days, you got "moan for me baby" voice messages. (EW.) Then they came out with the 360 and it was "hey baby you got a cam with yer Xbox?" Then "Got a kinect?" Now they'll KNOW you have a kinect and its back to "moan for me baby" only worse. THANKS Microsoft.

Xbone start up sound leaked!

Edit* Oh and this little gem was just found on Twitter. Guess those who buy the Xbone have to hope that Timmy doesn't get offended when they tell him to fuck off.
