To quote Dante from the movie Clerks (a long-time favorite film of mine), "I'm not even supposed to be here today!" That being said, what the fuck? Does everybody but me have the day off for Labor Day? Not only am I stuck working - sacrificing my holiday AND my day off - I had to start two hours early. It's a shitty fucking start too - woke up late, ride came late, every fucking ATM between Naperville & Oakbrook appears to be out of service (at least the ones I stopped at)... and the grand kick to the balls?

Since many of my fellow Saturday coworkers have Sundays & Mondays off, Saturday effectively serves as our Friday. This video effectively serves as our anthem, which somehow always comes up around this time...

I close my eyes, and I am transported to a lush, tropical paradise... palm trees swaying in a gentle salty ocean breeze, the brush of her hula skirt as she dances in the glow of sunset, the splattering of blood as a freshly decapitated zombie crashes to the ground... I can't stop imagining how awesome Dead Island is going to be. I'll pick it up Tuesday on the way home from work - that is, unless I get sick.  ;)  I can't take off, don't need anything fucking up my vacation.

My vacation can't come soon enough! Last day of work is the Saturday 9/17, then I don't go back til Tuesday 9/27. I'm not going anywhere, this is a total stay-at-home vacation. I'll be gaming mostly (especially with Gears Of War 3 launching), except for attending a special screening of "Trespass" that Wednesday, 9/21. I actually wanted to see this - the premise follows a husband & wife (Nicholas Cage & Nicole Kidman) who are kidnapped & held for ransom. Here is the trailer. I also have a guest ticket, I'll have to find someone.

If there's one thing that remains a constant in my life, that thing is change. Just like the old saying that you can't get something for nothing, every chance in life also comes at a cost. This truth always reminds me of its presence, especially at work. During my tenure there, I've experienced a fair amount of growth & change. As life always finds a way, the living spirit of the company has even changed over time (I can't say "evolved").
