I've made two discoveries in the past 48 hours:  1) after enduring a root canal, the surrounding area can be sore for days after, and 2) even on an antidepressant, this will make you one ornery motherfucker. The timing of this was actually fortuitous, as my roommate is out of town for the week. I'll probably take this opportunity to delve further into some retro gaming. I'll start Max Payne, and Duck Tales Remastered also launches on PSN today.

Craving a litlte "older-but-not-quite-old-school" flavor, I decided to break out the original Star Wars Battlefront last weekend. I miss the shit out of that game... there is nothing better than intergalactic civil war. I think that little blast from the past opened Pandora's Box, because I'm on a total retro kick now. I started replaying Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories on the GBA emulator on my phone, and dusted off my (original Xbox) copy of Morrowind, ready for me when I get home tonight.

"In this place, to find is to lose and to lose is to find.... to lose and claim anew, or to claim anew only to lose."  This has been written on my heart lately, both by force & by will. This past week, one of my friends/coworkers killed his wife then killed himself. Another friend, a police officer, responded to the call. I'm heartbroken, but not because a friend & gaming companion is gone... he left behind an 11-year-old daughter. Naturally, thoughts of mortality & the fragility of life abound, and I'm reminded to value the people in my life, not taking them for granted.

Stepping out of one's comfort zone can leave him feeling naked, at which time he should throw a naked party. This party should not take place at work, nor should the Google search for an accompanying image. Some things can't be unseen.

Since the Xbox One reveal on Tuesday, many have been asking why I'm less than pleased with Microsoft. Simply put, Microsoft has declared war. The fact that Microsoft is attempting to cripple - and profit from - the used game market is common knowledge. AngryJason's blog referenced an article (http://www.gamespot.com//news/xbox-one-preowned-plan-revealed-6408850?) outlining Microsoft's preowned plan. I'm one of the very people Microsoft intends to cripple in their plans.

I might've found my next tattoo design...
