Wed. Night Alpha Test

Getting pumped for a test Wednesday night. Hopefully we can round up 4 or so peeps for a little slugging it out (baring any major crashes). I spent tonight getting all the shit I've been working on for the past month checked into CVS and verified that it worked on another machine. Tomorrow I'm going to try and stuff in two last second features -

"Balance" all the ship speeds
Enable the "stealth" capability of the stealth ship

What I *really* need to get cracking on is the missile & bomb weapons, but I think those will come after this weeks tests.

I am alive...

I swear.

Been on 'vacation' since last Thursday, and I'm just getting back to the civilized world now. I *was* going to get some GalX work in, but instead I ended up starting to remodel our dining room. It had some hideous wallpaper up with some very poorly done molding & casing work. I managed to strip the wallpaper, paint the room, and get about 1/2 of the wainscoting up. I still need to case two doorways, a bay window, and finish the wainscoting, so GalX is on hold while I bang out the rest of that project. I'd like to get that done within the next two weeks.

Controllers: Check!

Super-productive night last evening...and I'm not talking about the hot dickings either ;)

1) Controller support is now in.
    You can now use game controllers with GalX. I a Logitech dual-analog and playing GalX with that is SOOOO much easier than using the keyboard.

2) Custom "binding" dialog box is fully operational.

Nothing new this week

Unless there is a burning demand for folks to try out this weeks build I think I'm going to hold off. So far the only two major features I've added (besides upgrading to TGB 1.1.1) are custom keyboard binds and "reverse thrust". Now you can hit 's' and fly backwards. I figured I should throw that in since turning 180 degrees and firing forward thrusters to slow down kind of sucked ass.

I also fixed the two bugs found in last week's testing.

Way to go kiddo!

Non-GalX post today....didn't really get anything done since I spent 1/2 of my weekend at work.

So, I'm not really the type of parent that has to brag every time their kid does something. It's like attention-whoring at your kid's expense. Anywho, I guess it's my turn to be "that parent" because my little buddy finally made me want to brag today :)

One Lane Ahead - MERGE!

Being the hacker I am, I've been making modifications to the source code of the Torque Game Builder engine. The *huge* downside is that whenever they come out with a new release that I want to upgrade to I have to merge my code back into the new stuff.

Energy Management System

There are 3 parts to the energy management system -
  1. Shields
  2. Weapons
  3. Engines
It is *not* possible for all 3 of these attributes to be at their maximum at any given time. Each has a recharge rate on a scale from 1 to 8 (0 meaning no recharge). The total amount of recharge "points" available is 12. So, it's possible to have your engines at full (8) and your weapons and shields will only be at a recharge rate of 2 (i.e. slooooooow).
