One Lane Ahead - MERGE!

Being the hacker I am, I've been making modifications to the source code of the Torque Game Builder engine. The *huge* downside is that whenever they come out with a new release that I want to upgrade to I have to merge my code back into the new stuff.

I was running TGB 1.0 and upgraded to TGB 1.1.1, which was a huge change. The only reason I wanted the upgrade is because they got rid of the very difficult to use and aesthetically disgusting tile editor and put it inline with the normal world editor. There are a bunch of other changes that were made too but that was the big one I wanted to pick up.

I've done the merge, tested out the game, and checked all the changes into the tree....now back to feature development!

I didn't think I was going to be able to test out a build last night (lack of testers) but gamerchicklet was able to hop in and give it a spin. The crash that I was hitting last week with DSmooth has been resolved so we were able to roll with it for more than 60 seconds. There were two bugs found that I need to fix though

- When player 1 fires, player 2's weapon energy goes down...d'oh.
- When you die, I don't restore your weapon energy back to full.

After I fix those two bugs I'm going to cook up an "in-game" menu so that you can exit/disconnect without quitting the game.

Man, I recognize that controller, it's the one NHL06 uses in the controller setup screen. I found the other gamepad's product page. http://www.thrustmaster.com/eng/d_prd.php?p=T39&fam=5 I have that but with the parent company's name on it, Guillemot. It's a pain in the ass since the button numbers aren't in a logical order.

Alright hombre, you're officially on "the list". I know you're busy doing your own dev work, so I didn't want to bother a fellow coder :)

Heh, I am to the point where I have to be able to run the code on the real hardware. Many emulators suck at handling data storage. gamerchick, but who reads his blogs? ;) About the controllers, what do you need tested. I have a thrustmaster gamepad which I have retired as I now use a PS2 controller with USB adaptor. I also have two joysticks, a generic one and a Saitek X45 flight control system. I plan on getting either the wireless adaptor for my 360 controller or that one that does double duty too when either comes out.

Well, I'm currently testing on a Logitech dual analog - http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2225,CONTE... Anything along the lines of "controller" (not joystick) would be great. Hell, even the PS2 controller w/ USB adapter *should* work. I'll see if I can finish up support for that this weekend. Although I'm not sure how much I'll get done since I want to hit level 43 in WoW :)
