A buddy of mine talked me into going to shoot a steel plates match today. I have shot plenty of guns in my life but never like this. Let me start off by saying, I had a blast. Pretty sure I came in last place but fun none the less. I shot my Glock 19 today. Next time I will shoot my Ruger MK3 .22 pistol and my S&W Mp 15-22. 

As some of you know, I am a high school teacher. Wednesday was suppose to be the first full day of school. I did not have to work. We are $1.2 million in the hole and can't balance a budget.  You see, I teach in a very rural town in upper east Tennessee (bring on the hillbilly jokes). We rank second or third from the bottom in the state on spending per pupil. We also have the third lowest property tax in the state. We pay $1.5069 and people want it lowered.  The people of this town bitch and moan because "they are over taxed". Industries will not locate here.

I grew up in a small town in Tennessee called Oak Ridge. Most have never heard of it but basically it was a "secret city" built in 1942 for a specific reason that very few knew about. Not a lot of reading but a lot of pictures. Thought some of you might enjoy the pictures.

I have decided to try yet another hobby. Ask my wife, I am famous for trying new hobbies. I have been trying to learn to play the guitar and I stumbled upon cigar box guitars.

I decided I could do that so the adventure began. I don't really have any big power tools so it has been a little harder until today. I found a belt sander on craigslist near where I work so picked it up today.

If you have ever read a comic book before, there is a good chance that you know who Jack Kirby is. Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America just to name a few. This is a link to an article written by his son. As a comic book fan, I enjoyed reading this and figured some of you might.

I have a question for you. Wife just got one and I was playing around with it. On my Droid, when I zoom in on something while on the internet, of course the font gets bigger but the margins resize and I don't have to scan back and forth to see an entire line. (Does this make sense?)  On the iPhone, when I zoom in, I then have to scan back and forth to read something. Is there a way to fix this or is this just a problem with iPhones? I really want to like the phone but this is a big problem for me.

New Guitar Day! I have been talking to a couple people on here about picking up a guitar to learn to play. My son started playing this past summer. I bought him an inexpensive guitar called a Bristol. It is made by Blueridge and is an import. For $300 it sounds great. I have been playing the pieces his guitar teacher has been sending home but haven't really got into it. I guess Twinkle Twinkle Little Star just hasn't been doing it for me. About a month ago I decided that I wanted my own guitar and I was going to go electric.

Here is a fun game for the kids and as they play, they can help raise money for an organization that helps out with victims of domestic violence. Sage is a fly fishing company and they have built this Christmas version of Angry Birds.  Every time you play a game, Sage donates a nickel.  Here is the link to the game.
