New Guitar Day! I have been talking to a couple people on here about picking up a guitar to learn to play. My son started playing this past summer. I bought him an inexpensive guitar called a Bristol. It is made by Blueridge and is an import. For $300 it sounds great. I have been playing the pieces his guitar teacher has been sending home but haven't really got into it. I guess Twinkle Twinkle Little Star just hasn't been doing it for me. About a month ago I decided that I wanted my own guitar and I was going to go electric. Friday after work I decided to go look at some guitars in a nearby town. After looking at several, I decided on a used Fender Highway One Stratocaster that they had a great deal on. I couldn't wait to get home and play. I already had an amp at home so I was good to go.

After playing on it for over an hour, I came to the realization that I prefered playing on an acoustic. Sooooo, Saturday morning I ran back up to the music store and told them what was up. The guy had told me that I had three days to return it if I didn't like it but I still felt a little bad. They said no problem. Now I have always admired Martin guitars and this shop is known for their Martins but a Martin just isn't in my budget. Being a new player, I asked one of the gentlemen that work there if he would play a few instruments for me so that I could listen. I had him play 4 Blueridge, 4 Seagulls, a Taylor and a Martin. The Taylor and the Martin were pushing the budget a little but doable. After listening to him, I picked the two that sounded the best to my ears. A Blueridge BG-40 and a Taylor that I forget the model number. I sat down and played both and decided to pick the Blueridge. I just liked the way it sounded better. No I did not play any high dollar guitars because I knew they were out of my price range. After getting home, I did a little research and found that the BG-40 was modeled after a National guitar made by Gibson. It has that old time look to it. It was not the best looking guitar to me but it was the best sounding. I decided I had better let my ears do the deciding. After playing it a little this afternoon, I am glad I returned the Strat. Sorry for the quality of pics. Now if I can just find a buyer for all my fly tying stuff, I am starting a fund for a Martin guitar.

Played so much this afternoon, my fingers are shot. I do have the intro to Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd down pretty good. So long story short, no Rocksmith in my near future but I am loving my acoustic.
