really it is recycling.....  My wife and I have a reputation for taking in old electronics, people just give the stuff to us because we are here all the time and the electronics recycling people are only around once every 2-3 months. Much of what we are given is ancient and my wife takes it appart to make jewlery, but sometimes we get some ok stuff.  People love to bring us hard drives because we take them appart to their base components and make sure that there will never be any usable info taken from them.

It appears that my jinx has hit yet again. Today my sister went it for her 3x a week ultrasound....and today there was no heart beat. So I guess I won't be an uncle any time soon.

Knowing my sister, she will be taking this very hard (as I'm sure any woman would). I'm guesing we won't even see her until Christmas (if even then) It's not uncommon for us to not see family for extended periods of time, and all it takes is something like this to happen and we have this genetic disposition to drift appart.

1. the problem is the video card. a video card that my tech tells me MUST be an exact replacement because of some "Matched Set" thing with the Alienware 5500I-R3 motherboards.

2. my tech will not get a replacement part, he insists that I provide a replacement.

3. this is a part that hasn't been made in a long time. Specifically an Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 256mb or 512mb.

a while ago I mentioned that our laptop had died under strange circumstances, I have since sent it to a local computer shop. Yesterday I recieved a call, it does not look good. Either this guy was seeing dollar signs when he saw it was Alienware, or he is trying to trick us.

Looks like I'm going to be an uncle.   My sister is only a few weeks preganant(despite her bizzare ability to consistantly fall down stairs), and I know its early to be telling people, but since only a select few of you know my real name, and none of you know my sister, I think it is a safe bet it will have no impact....but it is relevant to my blog, so there it is.
