Again CS, DoD and TF were half-life mods. Mods that would never exist with todays DRM climate. CS was likely most popular online games of it's time...

It isn't PC vs XB vs PS. DRM is about crushing innovation and forcing you into buying a rehash product year after year. You have to be online to play and yes we will kill the server when the new product releases.

So again, what do you think? If not for the people, the users, that could modify the game would it have existed? Going one step further, would Valve even be here today?

You're also naming the vast superminority of mods ever released.  Yeah, there are some amazing mods for some games out there.  Most of them?  Not so much.  I'll take a more locked down, walled garden, please.  Also, some folks make a mod as a resume, to get a job.

Yea, I see your point. Playing an MMO or ORPG, I want that thing locked down. PSO was horrible with all the hacked gears. It completly upset game balance. On the other side of the coin, Neverwinter thrives on user created content. That content is created with an in game tool and from what I can tell, is closely monitered.

In that situation, I don't mind it at all... But I am not paying anything for the game either.
