My Amazon pre-order is done. Hopefully they do launch day shipping.
I thought Sunset Overdrive looked pretty cool. I couldn't even really tell what Spark was, but I want it.
Waiting for release date announcement. If it's a weekday I'll probably do Amazon. If weekend, I'll do midnight release at Gamestop.
Yeah, right now Amazon has 11/30 which is a weekend. But I doubt that's the right date. I emailed Amazon and they said they'd do Release Day shipping if it's a weekday release.
Dean will do Gamestop midnight release for his box, but given that we have a 2 year at home and baby #2 is due 12/5...I'll wait for UPS. lol. We're assuming they'll only do 1 per househould or something.
Baby #1 due for us 12/20 but that's not stopping me. :)

Deep - "open world" doesn't mean "MMO". There should still be a story. Skyrim is "open world."

Wait how does that work with the 2 free games? Are we DL'ing them under any current Gold account? If that is the case then apparently Fable 3 is free to DL as of today...

Yes, any gold account. Yes, Fable III is June's free game and then 2 free ones per month starting 7/1. Halo 3 and ACII for July.
I noticed the Gamestop 499 pre-order sku is already been taken offline. Only the 560 bundles with a game are left. Which i guess unofficially confirms games will continue to cost 60 bucks.
The Project Spark game looked like a game creation tool, like Little Big Planet. It's cool but appeals to a small niche I imagine.
With all the cloud stuff and constantly chaging / updating games, as someone already pointed out, when are you ever going to be 'done' playing a game? If they added a constant stream of new content to games at 3 or 4 x the speed they do today, I wouldn't trade my games in because I wouldn't get bored with them as quickly.
From EA's conference, they're saying Battlefield 4 will be 64on64 multiplayer ?!?! That'll be nice a month post-release when it actually works. Also inter-city combat with skyscraper disctruction?! Whow.... ALso Star Wars Battlefront was quickly showing for a hell yes!
The Microsoft Store said they will only get 100 consoles at launch. Gamestop limits one console per household. Expect shortages on the Day 1 edition at least.
The Headset that can be pre-ordered is described as wired, and mono.
The presentation wasn't bad. Titanfall and Halo were the only ones that flicked my nipples a bit. But that 24 hour check-in. That's a C-C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
"Day One" consoles come with a commemorative controller and you get a special achievement in your profile.
We would like to personally invite you to be a part of this new generation of games and entertainment from Day One. Reserve your Day One Edition today and in addition to the best console we've ever made, you'll also receive a commemorative controller and an exclusive achievement.*
Day one editions will be sold the same day as regular edition consoles. Unless the lettering on the controller or the code for an achievement causes hardware failures I don't forsee a problem :)
I wanna wait until all the smoke is cleared regarding the stuff we've been discussing in the last few threads regarding xbox one. Also want to see what Sony has going on. Either way, I don't think I will be an early adopter this go around. Wel'll see.....
Ryse looked great. Spark has me quite curious, Titans fall looks awesome, and Holy Crap Battlefront?!
Halfway through Sony's conference, falling asleep. Wayyy too much time on Vita and PS3, while selling accessories and games that are already out and reviewed.
Hopefully they get to something new or interesting soon besides Destiny.
Wake me, when you're interesting Sony.
Edit: Did they cancel the PS4? Seems like they would rather sell us on Vita and PS3 exclusive stuff for most of their show. Getting ridiculous.
PS4 looks slanted and similar to Xbox One in look. I like how they have a picture of console box, controller, and kinect-type device too.
I'm going to watch the IGN post show and see if they are completely underwhelmed too.
Sony had so much room at do... well anything better than this so far.
There's still some time left, though some is for Destiny.
I'm guessing they are pushing the Vita as much as possible due to the low amount of sales it has garnered since release. Trying to make up some the losses they experienced in that area.
Well those that are wanting to leave Xbox due to the new restrictions, your Sony home awaits you. They will allow used game sales, they will have no timed server check and do not require you to be connected to the internet to play games.
Be carefull what you ask for, you just might get it.
Be carefull what you ask for, you just might get it.
Get what? Please explain......
Some people are stating MS is now the fascist king to rule them all and Sony is the champion of oppressed and downtrodden (had to look up the spelling and definition to see if I did it right). As I recall Sony has had the same type of issues (either intentionally or unintentionally) preventing people from playing/doing/FREEDOM/choices as the XB 1. Please correct me if I am wrong with my following examples:
When ps3 launched you are able to put a non native based OS on it, which was taken away by Sony via a firmware update.
Currently you do not need a PS+ membership to play MM on games. You will now have to have one for the PS4
When the PSN system went down for over a month it was later revealed (around a WEEK later) that passwords, emails and CC information could have been and most likely accessed, in part due to not using common industry accepted standards for protecing sensitive information.
My post is not to bash on Sony, MS is no better. But the notion people are under the impression that any company gives and F&*%s about your "rights" is naive.
Why is no one screaming and saying they will gut puppies or go out and buy a WII U over this:
Quote:
While the Wii U - and let's be real, it's basically last-gen tech - soldiers on with component output, both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will only output video signals via HDMI. The Xbox One specifically states that it needs a "720p or higher HDMI-compatible TV", while the PS4's spec sheet says the console only outputs via HDMI.

I know Sony is not handling the DRM, but aren't they leaving that to the software devs? I'm guessing most companies are going to pull a $15 online fee or some shit.

They already clarafied that all discs even third party games will be able to be used, sold and rented just as they are now. Online passes are another thing entirely, but it's nothing that doesn't already exsist.
The day after Sony took the wraps of the PS4, the company has clarified that the console will feature some restrictions on used games.
As with the PS3 and Xbox 360, the PS4 will allow third party publishers to lock access to content to second hand buyers.
Sony has already confirmed it will not make use of this ability for first party titles. However, it has also said developers and publishers will have the ability to implement some restrictions, if they choose to.
"The Online Pass program for PlayStation first-party games will not continue on PlayStation 4," Sony communications director Dan Race told Gamefront.
"Similar to PS3, we will not dictate the online used game strategy (the ability to play used games online) of its publishing partners," he added. "As announced last night, PS4 will not have any gating restrictions for used disc-based games," he said, contradicting his earlier acknowledgement that Sony had claimed the system featured no DRM.
"When a gamer buys a PS4 disc they have right to use that copy of the game, so they can trade-in the game at retail, sell it to another person, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever."
Destiny looked awesome. I feel bad for Sony that their best games are multiplatform, but at least they showed games eventually.
Cloud service won't even be at launch for PS4 and will be rolled out in the USA first for Sony.
So the best reason to get a PS4 is for used multiplatform games I guess. Or free indie titles already released on PC. Or timed exclusive betas on console, when the PC beta is already going.
At least its 400 bucks. Its a good choice for those on a tight budget all around, it seems.
Baby #1 due for us 12/20 but that's not stopping me. :)
Deep - "open world" doesn't mean "MMO". There should still be a story. Skyrim is "open world."
Actually I might wait to see what game stop does as far as console trade in/extra credit and stuff..

I pre-ordered a console from the Microsoft store.
The Day One Edition is a specific console with specific console bonuses, and game bonuses too http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/10/e3-2013-xbox-one-premium-day-one-...

See what I did there?
I preordered mine at gamestop at 4:15 est they told me they were only getting 8 and I was number 5 already.
"Day One" consoles come with a commemorative controller and you get a special achievement in your profile.
Amazon is limiting Day One Editions to one per household. Still, at least some will be for ebay ;)
Gamestop store here refused to tell how many they would get, but repeatedly stressed it was extremely limited numbers.
There maybe plenty of regular Xbox One consoles, but the Day One Edition will sell out very fast.
'day one' editions to me = first off the line, most likely to fail. LoL....
Actually no, thats not what that means. First off the line is already in the past.
Day one editions will be sold the same day as regular edition consoles. Unless the lettering on the controller or the code for an achievement causes hardware failures I don't forsee a problem :)
Until they address the DRM issues and change the connection requirements, M$ isn't getting my money.

The most applause Sony has got during their conference is that it supports used games.
The games fell flat, the exclusive kits or timed exclusive beta tests for something already in beta were duds.
Few minutes left, let's hope they do I dunno, anything at all worth watching?

People all forgot about Sony's rootkit. Remember that?
I know Sony is not handling the DRM, but aren't they leaving that to the software devs? I'm guessing most companies are going to pull a $15 online fee or some shit.

EA recently announced it had scrapped its online pass. Many within the media and publishing believed this pointed to Sony implementing a similar system to Microsoft on the Xbox One. It is currently unclear how EA will implement DRM – if at all.
