By the way

That tear in my quad seems to have healed fully.  For awhile I was experiencing a burning feeling in the middle of the quad area when I was overdoing it on the treadmill (it seems the increase in incline is what caused the tear) so I would back it down and feel better.  Sadly, the bruising did not migrate down my leg and instead has disappated where it pooled.  I have to admit to being disappointed.

Lets try it again

So I had a blog posted and went back to edit something, and apparently I can't tell the difference between the EDIT and DELETE button. Ah well.

When it starts dripping from other places

Thanks to my asshole neighbor's kids I've been up since a little after 2:30 with no hope of getting back to sleep so I thought I'd peruse the internet.  Also considered cranking up the bass amp and working on some Skynyrd covers Dan the Drummer Man wants to mess with but ultimately was too tired.

Anyway, I came upon the following story:

Deep thoughts or something

I just realized a few minutes ago that since I've been back in the gym I've had exactly one minor gout flair up. Normally I'd get hit pretty hard every 2-3 weeks. When it flairs up I get it either in my instep or my ankle, or in worst case scenarios both places. Last March I got hit with it in both feet and I had to break out the crutches for a few days. I take Allopurinol daily to help combat the flair ups, so even when I got hit hard it could have been worse. But now I'm wondering if I'll even need to continue taking it.

More stuff

Broke the 90lb mark in weight loss as of this morning, I'm down 90.4lbs from December 30th, 2010 and down 40.4lbs from when I started up at the gym on July 11.  I was pretty happy to see the scale register with a new middle number in the weight, I can tell you that much.  I had plateaued more or less for most of October and was getting a little frustrated, but my workouts have been smoking for the last week and a half (even with the new equipment) and I've felt absolutely fantastic when leaving the gym.

Thanksgiving preparations

Right now I'm hoping to have my son for Thanksgiving, but as of this moment I'm not sure if thats possible.  He has wrestling coming up, although I'm not sure if they have meets that weekend or not.  If they have meets then its off; I don't want him to miss any matches his senior year.  If he doesn't have any meets that weekend then I still have to work around getting him up here.

Trick or Treat

I take a couple branch chain amino capsules before bedtime, they're the 2-piece plastic looking capsule type of pills.  It was weird last night because after I took them I had the sensation that they were stuck in my throat.  So about 5 minutes after I took the pills I had to burp.  As I burped, a cloud of what looked like smoke erupted from my mouth.  And of course it wasn't smoke, it was the powdered aminos from inside the capsule that apparently really was stuck in my throat.  Gross, yet fascinating.  Of course it tasted like shit too.

Fun times

I've decided to go ahead and hit the gym this morning for some extra cardio.  Originally I was going to take this weekend off entirely to rest my quad injury, but I've felt strong enough through the week that I'm willing to give it a go.  I still tone down the incline during the week on the treadmill in the form of less time spent on the max incline I go to.  I still get there, but now its for the last 5 minutes instead of the last 20.

So far

Maybe I'm getting too picky or something, but so far I've been disappointed in a few of the "big guns" of gaming titles released so far. I love Gears 3, I thought Dead Island was a good "B" title albeit bugged and geared more for co-op than single player, and Deus Ex was outstanding in spite of the horrible endings. But the AI in the Forza 4 career mode has really made me regret purchasing that game (let alone buying the CE) and I am pretty much over Arkham City...I haven't touched it in a week. Truthfully I wish I had rented both of those games instead.

Thursday

Did back today and had to suffer through adapting to the new equipment at the gym. This is the workout thats most affected by the new stuff. My shoulders still hurt at times but I got through it. The weird part is that simple pulldowns were causing some pain in my good shoulder (the shoulder thats only had 1 surgery heh) which doesn't normally happen. So I'm not sure if I'm adapting to the equipment or getting used to the pain. Might be a little of both.
