So far

Maybe I'm getting too picky or something, but so far I've been disappointed in a few of the "big guns" of gaming titles released so far. I love Gears 3, I thought Dead Island was a good "B" title albeit bugged and geared more for co-op than single player, and Deus Ex was outstanding in spite of the horrible endings. But the AI in the Forza 4 career mode has really made me regret purchasing that game (let alone buying the CE) and I am pretty much over Arkham City...I haven't touched it in a week. Truthfully I wish I had rented both of those games instead. Right now I can't touch the new Kinect releases because of that tear in my quad; I don't want to mess with high impact movements for awhile.

Battlefield 3 was never on my radar, although I want to issue a special "fuck you" to EA for not allowing me to play the copy I rented online without shelling out an extra $10 to them. MW3 isn't on my playlist either. I rented Space Marine and couldn't believe what a below-average title that was in spite of the reviews...I spent an hour with it and really have no interest in going back. Rage was actually impressive, however I've already played Borderlands and Fallout so Rage felt too familiar to really hook me.

I'm hoping the new WWE game will be good, but judging by what I've read about the career mode and with my fears that the controls will be akin to All Stars (which I thought absolutely sucked) I'm probably going to stick with SvR 2010. And going forward, any game with the EA logo on it is a rental only or a used purchase. After this crap with the server fee I refuse to buy anything new from EA again. So no LotR War in the North. This also includes Mass Effect 3, but I'm pretty sure EA has managed to fuck with Bioware enough at this point (Dragon Age 2, anyone?) that passing on ME3 is probably a good thing to do.

That leaves me with 3 titles looming on the horizon: Skyrim, Saints Row the Third and the Halo remake. Those are sure things...right? I guess I'll find out beginning in 2 weeks.

And regarding yesterday's blog story about my almost-mail order bride from Russia, just for Polteg I uploaded the pics of her onto photobucket.  Enjoy.  Tell me these pics wouldn't have had you playing along as well. :)

Alright, halfway to making an Indonesian dish for yourself dude. Get yourself a small bag of pre-cut veggies (not the kind for soup, but the salad-kind and be sure that there isn't lettuce in it. And get yourself a box of those boullion-blocs you know, you add them to soup, but they have more uses. Now put on a pot with water and add salt and a little vinegar (matter of taste of how much) and bring it to a boil. Temper the boiling and add halve a boullion-bloc and when that's dissolved, add the veggies. Boil it quickly for 2 minutes and then let it just about simmer for about 5 minutes more. You just added a very quick side of Gado-Gado to your pork chops and white rice! (You can also add a small hand of unsalted peanuts when the veggies are simmering.)

Everything is better with cheese, but I don't recommended to cheese-up a love interest... that's still more a whipped cream and chocolate affair than anything else...

Interesting write up about the games. I burnt out of Gears pretty fast but agree it is a good game. I have been watching Teddy play Arkham City...it seems OK...but nothing in me says "I have to play that". I also agree about Dues Ex and I know that will be a game I go back to eventually. I heard Rage was really good as well but I don't know if people are sort of burnt out on shooters or what. EA's move is pretty despicable. I read an interview in Game Informer from Ubisoft how when they were up and coming they got a call one day from EA saying "We just acquired 20% of your shares" in a prepare to be boarded statement (Que the evil empire theme here). Ubisoft held out about six months or so until some new management came (that apparently had a soul) and backed off with a "We wouldn't want to pursue this if it isn't mutually beneficial " statement. As for Skyrim, the more I hear, the better I like it. I remember back in the day when Oblivion was going to be released, there were many more concerns about it and it turned out many of them were justified. People are really working hard to find nits to pick with SKyrim however. The content looks great, the gameplay looks great, the environment looks fantastic. Some perfectionist found his calling, I am telling you. Saints Road the 3rd just sounds stupid to me, but I was never into Saints. Halo remake will be a nice nostalgia trip but it will wait for me until I get done with Skyrim which may not be for quite a while.

Skyrim will be a surefire buy that only dorks will find something to bitch about on. It's full on Bethesda, not third party publish or outsourced to Obsidian (shudder). It'll be solid. If you like RPG's that is. You'll be looking in vain for your KDR in it. SR3 will just be a hoot. Don't take it seriously and you'll be entertained for months on end. I still play SR2, and that's saying something, considering that it isn't a Bethesda title XD

I gotta say you are crazy about not finishing Batman cause you can't catch the assassin... but again I'm a Batman fan. My biggest purchase regrets were all the games you like LOLZ. I thought DI and Deus Ex were crap and Gears, well let's just say it's cool but not 60 bones cool. U2 or Batman will take GOTY... norah stupid elves and dragons and shit can beat those... Skyrim... Fuck might as well go to the renaissance fair.

Holy crap Cap, thats her! Nice find lol! But I don't see the name she used with me in that profile. But she is hot, so I can understand why other guys would be intrigued enough to talk with her. However I pointed out that in our country women that looked like her are legally forbidden from making even eye contact with people who look like me lol. I just don't understand how someone could be dumb enough to send money to her. I'm going to look into this some more, if you don't mind I'm going to use this link in tomorrow's blog and expound on this a bit more. :)

@ Outcast: I'll finish it, its just kind of taken the air out of the sails for me. I never ran into anything like this in Asylum. And City really has a lot of great things going for it, its just not hooking me.

Dude you gotta play ME3! Well I don't know maybe you didn't like the first 2? But its earth invasion time by giant sentient robot doo-hickeys. Skyrim will keep may of us satisfied for a long time.... You know what it is? You aren't enjoying these games because damn dude! We are getting bombarded by them. When they get here though you are like wow didn't I just play this game 6 months ago. We keep getting fed the same crap over and over with a slick new cover. You find yourself enjoying the under hyped games as they aren't being hyped by the mainstream and feel new and different. Games like Halo, Gears, BF, and COD are making us ADD gamers. Only they are too stupid to seperate there release dates. Hey lets alll drop the same game at the same time and hope they play ours for a month or 2 before getting bored and go back to Keflings. Thats why many of us know for certain Skyrim will steal so much of our lives and it isn't even worth buying another game for a few months. We aren't bored of this world because we haven't been in it for like 5 years? Not only that but despite a few inconviences in gameplay (third person view in III and IV, npcs level with toon in oblivion), this game will be worth every penny! HOORAY

Good points, Polt. There's something to be said about not churning out sequels and instead focusing on quality titles that will sell many copies and be regarded as classics.

Let be honest pp2. You only need to kill time to 12-23 anyway. After that, you won't need a new title for a year anyway. :)

I would skip the Russian mail order bride. My husband's brother met someone from the Ukraine that way, and she was a total whore. And not in the good way. She made this big deal of sounding all sweet and ready to meet the family and wanted to learn English better and all that, and then she was in the room on the computer ALL day, the brother waited on her hand and foot and she used him and it became a matter of National Security. Not worth it.
