Cobra

A variant cover to Cobra #6, on sale next week. Pencils by Robert Atkins, inks by Juan Castro, colors by me.  The third time I've had the chance to work on  GI Joe related book, was very cool.

Recent work/Commissions

Some stuff I've been working on recently.  Just personal projects but I'm thinking of taking on some commissions.  Wife and I are buying a house so we could use some extra money.  If anyone wants a custom pic of a comic book or video game character feel free to contact me at themarkroberts@hotmail.com.

...

Been getting a little burned out coloring comics lately.  Well, maybe burned out is a bit harsh, more like it's not quite as satisfying as it used to be.  So I am once again making an effort to work on drawing my own stuff.  Maybe some day I'll get to a point where I'll be drawing the comics and some one else can color it.  Here's something I did today:

A character from the past.  In the 90's there was a comic company called Valiant and this guy, Bloodshot, was one of their major characters.

Penciled on bristol board, scanned, inked in Painter X, colored in Photoshop CS5.

Conan!!

I fulfilled a dream of mine recently when I worked on a comic featuring my favorite fictional character: Conan. To top it off it was drawn by an artist who's work I've been a fan of since I was in high school, one Bart Sears. If you pick up USAToday you might have seen page 1 in today's edition, if not you can view all 8 pages on thier website for free:

Digital painting

Hey, another long time between blogs. Oh, well, been busy as hell coloring comic books for a living. Been feeling really burnt out making other people's artwork look nice so I took a couple days to do some of my own. Here's some sketches that I did on paper then scanned into Photoshop to do some painting:

New comic pages

Hey-oh.  Been getting really busy with the comic book work lately, enough that it's become my full-time job.  Feels good to be working constantly again after going so long without anything work, and to be making a living doing what I love.  Plus the wife is finally getting off my back about getting a real job, heh.  Got a few things hitting store shelves soon and will have an on-going series debuting on iTunes in December.

Comic in stores today

So, back from San Diego Comic Con.  What a crazy experience.  Had a lot of fun and made some good contacts, but don't think I'll be going back any time soon.  Too damn crowded.  Any way, that comic I did colors for hit stores today, Grimm Fairy Tales #40 by Zenescope Entertainment.  If you happen to be near a comic shop stop by and check it out.
