Coundtdown continues

4 Days left until the big 41!

This weekend Dastard and I are kicking off an idea that was born last September but never implemented, until now. We have a small group of friends whose company we enjoy. I happen to be watching the Food Network one day and Rachel Ray mentioned having themed dinners. I thought this was a great idea since we all have our favorite meals that originate from a different region, be it nationally or internationally.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

The beginnings of Valentines Day are varied.  One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

*Sigh*

You know, the old adage, "When it rains, it pours" is so very true. Yesterday was an odd day. My younger cousin passes from unexplained circumstances, my aunt is still recovering from a near death experience a few weeks ago and I find out from my dad that a close acquaintance had a major stroke on the golf course yesterday. I actually had a hard time getting to sleep last night with all of these thoughts going through my head. So, to help brighten the mood, I thought I would reprint this poem I received.

Monday Rant

We often see people invoking their first amendment rights when a protest is going on or someone tries to shout down a speaker and then claims their first amendment rights are being violated.  How many of us actually know the words to the first amendment?  Not many, so here it is courtesy of

What a bummer

I still have time left on my 48 hour pass with Xbox Live.  Unfortunately, I'm downed by a bad cold.  There is sooo much pressure behind my eyes I don't think I can track anything on screen.  So, I don't think I will be able to finish my time today.  On the bright side, I have been given a glimpse into the world that is MM Halo2 and I appreciate all the help from the 2o2p members.  I realize that I am going to have to finish this semester before getting a subscription to XBL.  Besides, the boys may be living with us
