Fun Weather in the Midwest

I was just about to post something about this current weather system that is in the heartland right now.  While we haven't gotten the ice that Mike has we are in a tornado watch until 6 PM tonight and then the Snow and Blowing Snow advisory begins at that time.  How often do you get to see Mother Nature during PMS? (No offense to those who do get PMS cause I know it is no laughing matter)

Girl's Night Out

The other night I was invited out for a night with "the girls." I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down WAY too easy. Around 3:00 am, a bit loaded, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up; I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution in order to escape a possible conflict with him.

Odd noises coming from living room

I'm sitting here trying to write a paper and presentation for one of my classes and as I look over my vast array of reference documents, I hear these strange noises coming from the living room. At first it was the high pitch giggle or moan, which then changed to what sounded like some animal being tortured to what sounds like short sneezes.

Pollyanna falters

There are times in your life where you know you are getting older.  You can't escape the passing of time and while you may not feel your age you get reminders.  No, I'm not bipolar since my birthday post was up just a few days ago.  I'm sitting at my desk looking at two sympathy cards that I'm about to send.  My cousin passed two weeks ago and a friend died last week from a stroke.  While my cousin was younger than I, my friend was about the same age as my parents.  She and her husband were my rock while I lived by myself in Nebraska.  I knew I could call on them if I should ever need help.  N

Would you rather....?

I went for my morning walk with the dog and once again marveled at the quiet that is the morning sky.  There are some dark areas where the street lights haven't been connected yet which allow a person to view the morning sky, prior to sunrise.  There were a few wispy clouds left over from the rain/snow showers that had recently passed.  The stars seemed particularly sparkly and as often my habit I searched for the three stars that make up the belt of Orion.  Not that I'm a huge star gazer, just looking for a familiar sight.  Every now and then the bark of a coyote can be heard with a dog answe
