Last nights episode just shows you that Zombies can't wipe us off the face of the Earth.  Look at how proficient they've become at killing zombies.  While the stronger ones went in the yard to kill the zombies, the weaker ones stayed at the fence attracting the attention of the roamers and not allowing the other force to get zerged.

As for Herschel, that happened in the comic but I think it was Dale who got the axe.

I think it was Dale. It seems as if Hershel had to take Dale's part mostly because the guy who played Dale wanted out. Picking off zombies is the easy part, now. They still have ammo. It'll get much more scarce when they run out, or find that they will run out.

Great epi, tho. I loved all the carnage in this one. Good way to start off the season.

I loved the new episode. Season 2 wasn't much more than a continuation of season 1, but it seems like they've all really evolved. The whole opening scene, where they cleared the house without saying a word, was amazing.

Oh, and riot police zombies? Hell yes.

I think its very smart of them to say a few months have passed, it explains the obvious age differences in all the characters, especially Carl.

Hell yea! The entire show I kept saying "Rick you gotta do something about that guy". Im wondering if that other older white guy prisoner turns out to be some super creep or something.

If I'm guessing crimes - that guy is in for being a pedo or a donkey rapist or something.

great episode. I also agree that rick's new attitude is amazing.

I also love how the TV show deviates from the comics but keeps the main plot points. I know what to expect in a way, but the who and or when may be different.

I just started reading the comics and Rick is a badass when they are at the Prison.  Will be interesting to see if they keep this going, but so far the show has been awesome this season.

I don't know who this new character named "Rick" is, but I like him much more than the old Rick from last season. I am partial to the comics and it seems from the last few episodes, that the show is stepping up to the same level of brutal, gritty enjoyment.

Im diggin how Rick is handling things too. He took care of that inmate quick as fuck. Just last season he'd have spent two episodes just talking about it first. I also enjoyed Lorie giving her speech about being a shitty wife and Rick not correcting her.

I'm not so sure you can blame her.  For all she knew, Rick was dead and she was running for her life with Shane.

Yea, but once he was back, she didn't exactly follow that up very well. The main example I can think of is when she put it in Rick's head that he would need to kill Shane, then treated him like shit when it wound up happening.

this right there is spot on brother.  the way she reacted after rick told her shane was dead made it seem like she wanted shane to come back from that walk in the woods and not him.  hell, carol has stood behind rick more than his own dam wife.

the stuff that happened before rick came back, that's all understandable.  not stepping up and backing his play when he did come back, that's all on her.

BTW, was anyone else totally creeped out by the idea of a stillbirth zombie ripping out of Lorie, Alien style, after she mentioned the idea? Fuck that! I still don't think they should be having the kid, but that possibility is just gross as hell. I hadn't even thought about it until she mentioned it. Once that kid is born, I'd be out. You gotta be quiet as hell. That thing is gonna be nothing but noise for quite a while. Not to mention all the other issues a baby brings. No thanks.

I didn;t get the point of him killing those soldiers. Yeah they had resources, but given the state of the world I' think he'd welcome a few more trained people to help protect the town. I'm sure they'll go into it in the future. SInce I haven't read the comics, I guess I'll have to wait, but at face value it made no sense to me.

The weapons and vehicles fit the Governor's persona as a bad dude as Yem said; the soldiers, on the other hand, did not. Taking that stuff by force is a way for him to protect the people of Woodbury and make himself indispensible as a leader.

I thought David Morrissey killed it in that role. I love the direction that the show is taking this season, and especially dedicating the entire episode to something other than Rick's group shows they're taking steps to keep the show fresh.

They were soldiers, not some seedy, no morals having, dirtbags. They don't need more gaurds/mouths to feed

But really, and most importantly, the Govenor is just one bad dude.... and that's what the episode was setting up

I felt like the Governor killing the soldiers was because getting them to follow his command would have been too hard, if even possible at all. One of them would have wanted to insist on being in charge of something, which would then lead to a power struggle, etc.

Also, is it obvious that the Governor is supposed to be a contrast to Rick? I mean, they have almost the same crew; A big black guy, a young small asian guy, a redneck. Looked like the Governor had a wife and son, but, I didn't see them in his camp with him.
