Yeah, we're not koreans beating down the doors of Blizzard Korea. We're civilized and quietly write passive agressive reviews that developers think are cute. Then we buy anyway.

Seriously though, I do welcome the direction in which the customer-satisfaction is going in relation to videogames. If it urges developers to actually develop something worth the current price-point, I think that more people would be willing to hold on (longer) to their purchases.

If you look past the entitlement that most certainly is a part of it, you still can't deny the given that the focus was too much on developers and their awesome lives as opposed to what they actually produced. If the focus within the gaming-community at large would shift more towards the product instead of the individuals that develop the product, it would  A) be healthier and B) benefit everyone.

@other people:

Posting at monday-morning should be restricted for some of you. ^^ There's such a thing as comically overdoing it and it appears that some of you overlooked that. I'm not disappointed; I'm very well aware that a good group of my fellow clannies are merely senseless corporate drones that are having the life sucked out of them on 9-to-5 basis. It just makes me very happy I'm not a woman married to some of you. Poisoning dinner should be an act of self-defense for your wifes.

Don't look now, but 2o2p is a pretty toxic place with a hardcoregroup of people who rarely contribute anything other than bile and a chance to beat somebody down. I don't care, it doesn't matter if I'm joking or pointedly insult someone, it's all done with a big smile on my face and an empty carecup. Other people get angry, I lol.

Basically, on line I have a simple rule:

Be nice and I'm twice as nice. Be an asshole and I'm ten times the asshole you are. I don't care about your feelings, common courtesy or moderators in that respect. I just get another cup of coffee and scratch my butt. The internet isn't worth losing sleep over and consequently, so are 99% of people that pollute it.

@Tdrag.

Fully agreed. I don't begrudge people having their fun, I play mindless clickgames too but if you play, say, a Zynga-game, you know what you sign up for. I can't very well expect anything more than drivel from companies like that. But on the other end of that scale are companies that can do better with their eyes closed, one hand on their backs and two fingers in their noses. It has taken the community long enough to start holding them to higher standards and from where I'm standing, only good can come from this.

Time will tell, I guess.

Let this go, walked away, as many things in life ARE more fun, but...

you wax all poetic about how you can be nice or not, and things about humor and such, and how you can be 10 times the ass, whatever.

This line, WAS meant to be a humorous jab.

"I sincerely hope that was a phone error...I KNOW Jones is watching...somewhere..."

So, if you can be ten times the ass or not, who can say, but dumbass does come to mind.

My corporate 9-5 job is Product Development...And we talk a lot about the fact that in order to innovate or do something new and cool, there must be a tolerance for failure. If not, nobody takes risks.

So I agree that you should only buy games that you think will truly be worth your $$$ - but there's enough free information on the internet outside of official "reviews" that enable us all to make reasonably smart decisions about what games to pick up and what to pass on. It's not like people are getting duped into buying garbage.

And there's also a market for crap games. My husband will play anything. Enjoys it. His time. His money. *shrug*

And the Cliffy B "rockstar" wealthy devs are the exception, not the rule, IMO .

Regardless of my feelings about the console, the developers didn't deserve to be booed.

I couldn't agree more. I dont care if you like PS4, XBONE, or neither. Why take it out on the game developer? Because they chose to be an exclusive title? There  hasn't been much gameplay shown on Killer Instinct to warrant that reaction.

Based on a pretty nebulous statement:

”Whitten” wrote:
"If [Family Sharing] is something that people are really excited about and want, we're going to make sure that we find the right way to bring it back."

This mumbo jumbo makes it sound like they are too far behind to have DRM figured out and implemented by launch:

”Whitten” wrote:
“I probably should have been more clear,” Whitten said about his comments the day the feature was removed. “We took some feedback and realized there was some stuff we needed to add to the program. To add it to the program, we had to make room, just from a pure engineering perspective, to be able to get that work done. So taking Family Sharing out of the launch window was not about ‘we’re going to take our toys and go home’ or something like that. It was just sort of the logistics of ‘how do we get this very, very clear request that people really want, that choice, and how do we make sure we can do an excellent job of that, get to launch, and then be able to build a bunch of great features?’ . . . . “

Anythings possible with Microsoft. I hope they re-instate the original idea post X1 launch. I think easing people into it  would be an easier approach instead of forcing it out of the gate.

Yeah, you're right... I actually threw that thing out a long time ago. I just keep mentioning it so I pass off the illusion that there will be a point in time where I could, should lightning strike twice in the exact same spot, refill it with care(tm).

Ten times...it's good to know you set the bar high I guess...

Generally speaking, if a company releases duds, the word gets out and then they're out. The only possible way around this is a continually renewing pool of NEW suckers to open their wallets. And I'd say kids fit that category pretty well, and the parents that don't bother and just pay without looking first do too.

Question is, are they the major demographic? If they are, then give up and go home, it's over.

So...no one has posted or freaked out about the Forza 5 news yet? I am shocked...I assumed I would have come in here and seen many posts on how Take 10 hates the American service personel and wants to stab puppies...

Just so it is clear, I have zero issues with what they are doing.

Are you talking about the kotaku article?

If so, and for those who simply want to be pissy that it WILL require a day one DL and don't care to read the entire thing. Let me post this little tidbit for you naysayers:

Before you say "but that's just DLC", nope, this must be downloaded before you're allowed to play the game (though remember, with both new consoles you'll be able to play while you're downloading).

Yeah pretty much. Kotaku recently does everthing it can to make the most simplest task that in one form or another been existing in current gen and pc gaming for years, now seem like a conspiracy theory when it is related to MS/Xbox. I first read about it on Polygon and after reading it I immediately thought to myself, I wonder how Kotaku is going to spin this to make it out to be the next coming of the anit-christ or a threat to any and all gaming. Looks like I was was not far from dead on.

Then I made the idiotic mistake of reading the user comments and then I wanted to nuke the internet into oblivion. Then I remembered that is where I can find pics of Christina Hendricks and Lucy Pinder and took my finger off the destroy button.

Pretty much, although this sounds like one huge update, because they want to keep working on it until release day.

I don't see an issue.
