Ugh. I sort of knew I wouldn't finish off this winter without at least one more session of snow blowing.

Snows been gone for two weeks too.

Oh well, the sun going to beat the hell out of it over the next few days.

Snorting snow is unavoidable around here. A line of snow is as big as a driveway.  ;)

Hi everybody!

Congrats Free! I still haven't seen your post about being fired? But I'm glad to see you have a new job!

Wow I've been gone so long you'd think I'd have more to say. Um...

I don't think I told you guys about the ID theft, did I? Someone went on a shopping spree the first weekend in January using hubby's identity and excellent credit. All of the stores/banks recognized it as ID theft and removed it from his credit report except one: Pier One Imports/Comenity Bank. They're STILL "investigating."

Most of the stores saw that something wasn't right from the beginning. Most had already put a hold on the accounts, and flagged them as possible ID theft. So when we called, their "investigation" was already underway. But not Pier One.
So far, they've removed some of the charges on the account, and keep sending us letters(and bills) stating they're investigating the frudulent charges on 'our' account. They don't seem to understand IT IS NOT OUR ACCOUNT. We don't HAVE one. We don't SHOP there. The thief OPENED the account, bought $4k worth of shit, using Hubby's info. All the other stores/banks seemed to get it on the first call. Not that complicated.
/rant

Oh and it's so hot here today I have the a/c on.

Damn, that sucks Kit.  A few of the people here at work are dealing with that thanks to an incompetent HR person at corporate.  He/she received an email from our "CEO" requesting the name, address, SSN, birthdate, and salary information of all the employees.  So they dutifully compiled a spreadsheet with all the information of all 4000+ employees and sent it off.  Because that is a normal request for a company's CEO, right?

That was about 5 weeks ago.  Then a couple weeks ago they received another request from "the CEO" for PDF copies of all the employees W-2s.  So they went over to the CEO's office to confirm he actually wanted them.  "What?"  "Oh, if you didn't ask for them...then we might have a problem."

Lovely, eh?  So I'll be watching my shit like a hawk for the next few months.  The company is paying for 2 years of a credit monitoring service.  The FBI & IRS are investigating...I think the suspicion is that the email originated from overseas.  So who knows how many times that information has been sold over the past month and a half.

Fucking stupid people.....you can't ignore them, and you can't beat sense into them.  angry

HOLY SHIT Sherb! That's so so messed up. I'm hoping that HR idiot got fired?!

The police detective handling hubby's case said what you did: the IDs get sold, in groups, over and over. She also said there are people in prison who have the job of buying/selling IDs online.

Check your credit reports-all three companies-often. All three credit reporting companies had different info on them. If we'd just gone with one, we'd have missed a lot. We went ahead and paid for LifeLock.

I wonder if something similar happened where hubby works? He's found 8 people so far who've had ID theft in the past six months, including two who had someone else file their taxes and collect their refunds!

On the subject of identity theft... Somebody burnt some popcorn here at work today, and I've had TWO coworkers each accuse me of being the one. I've never once popped popcorn in all the 10 years I've worked here!!! Who IS this bandit popcorn burner masquerading as me???

No, no their not.

Some times it just take a little extra effort to post something, relevant, stimulating and yet not so provocative that trouble ensues.

I don't mean in this thread - I mean the rest of the site.  With all the clans gone, no one I gamed with ever comes here anymore.

There are active clans outside of 2old2play? I've heard some of the ones that were here, died slow deaths after leaving.

These kinds of sites are fairly inactive. That's undeniable.

Do your friends go to any other site? Are they active there?

Our racing group has moved almost exclusively to Facebook. One page for off the wall fun and the other for official race schedules/rules/events etc.

I'm still actively avoiding FB.

2old2play provides all the contact I need for Destiny and Halo. I'm not sure how FB could improve on it.

I did too but the group went and the contact fizzled. I'd say if you're getting what you need, then don't break it...

We have a FB group.  I'm talking about this website.

Sounds like you're actively trying to take a stand somehow for no reason.  But it's your choice.  You must not need interaction in Destiny and Halo on 2o2p because there is no movement here on the boards, at least compared to all other mediums.

I get notifications, real time, as soon as anyone in the group page posts anything. Accessible by phone, a plus, and its quite easy to keep current events, races, standings up to date. The biggest complaint before the bulk moved was the lack of access to moderator access to keep everything tidy. I've been hanging here long after most have stopped, but honestly it's quite quiet.

So far, in the FPS community that I am Friends with (~200), most of the connectivity is simply accommodated by playing together on Live. A bit of Live messaging helps but the bigger stuff like Raids or game nights are handled in the forums on 2old2play.

I suppose there could come a day when we need more than that. For now, just being online is all that's required.

It is unfair to say the everyone has left this site. A large percentage has, but not everyone.

Deep no longer believes that clans are a good thing. For him, this site and XBL provide him with enough interaction.

For many others, myself included, we are active thru multiple social mediums.

Gaming has changed since 2005 and the forums that support them have as well.

I'm glad to see my point was proven.

Sometimes I just don't get around to posting friendly stuff and luckily avoid posting on a rant day.

We had absolutely lovely roast lamb for Easter. My wife nailed it again. Leftovers were very welcome.

I don't think ranting is bad , it's good to get things off your chest . I don't miss watching the heated discussions that turned bad . I look around here sometimes and I'm like wow this feels like a family divided with everyone going different directions now

Life's intrusive...

I have two history classes, and at my age, that's really a pain in the ass,

Have a part time from home business trying to get off the ground,

have some woodworking projects piling up that the weather's JUST getting agreeable to start on (two cornhole sets AND THEN a entertainment center for my new 58" UHD SmarTV) Still pondering if these cornhole sets have any commercial potential.

Work is increasingly a pain, mollycoddling out of town engineers on a redesign/upgrade project ALL next week...

and I'm REALLY getting tired of the damn politics, from all directions...

just wanna race some imaginary cars around some imaginary/real(?) tracks and trash talk with my buddies...

WHICH I did get to do yesterday afternoon for maybe 90 minutes.

And I'd kill for a bag of popcorn right now...

Two history tests and a dentist appointment in two days, and I'm on day 4 of the Engineers marathon. Anyone familiar with the "bag of cats" reference?

That said, I have a team race tonight! I'm a bit rusty but hey, I painted the cars, he can carry the podium, no?

Oh, the team went from two to four yesterday.

I give you Rottendog racing!
