Yup that is what happened to me first time around, this time I am taking more care how I progress, time trials are a great way of getting your MBR and SR up. Unfortunatley there are none during week 13... that's why I have done ovals this week, that one is less important to me.

Why does my SR go down even if it not my fault?

Had 3 races now and all 3 I have been hit from the side hard.

There is no differentiating between the hitter and the hitee, it is logged as an incident and both parties take an SI hit....just read this http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/2220.page

For you guys that are still Rookies or D Class in Oval and would like to move up, this is the week to do it.  They are running the long Charlotte oval.  Just start in the pits, avoid the wrecks and work on SR.  Last Saturday when Charlotte was running I was able to run 11 races in a row with ZERO incidents total.  That got my SR over 4 and I fast tracked to A Class.

I know it is frustrating, but I think you are still trying to race.  Trust me, get your promotions to the license level you want, and then you can start racing.  Just forget anything about being competitive for a little while to get promoted.  I know it's hard, I struggled with it at first also.  But once I got tired of being in the lower classes and decided I was going to work only on SR, I was able to go from Rookie to A class in about 3 weeks.  So just forget about racing, start from the pits, stay 3 - 4 seconds behind the last place car, and move over to let everyone pass that gets within 2 seconds behind you.

Now that I got all my promotions, I can start racing and last night that is exactly what I did.  I did 2 races last night, one in the Late Models at Thompson Speedway and the other in the Star Mazda at Spa.

In the Late Model race, I started 3rd (mainly because most of the field didn't qualify) and finished 4th. I had spent a bunch of time over the weekend working on the tune and testing, only to join a practice session and find out I am still almost a second off the pace. There are some really fast drivers out there. I was racing the whole race and anyone who wanted to pass me had to work for it. I didn't try to block anyone, but I didn't move over and let them by like last week when I was only concerned about SR. I finished the race with ZERO incidents and improved both my iRating and SR.

For the Star Mazda race at Spa, I started in 11th and finished 7th. There are some very fast drivers there also. My best lap is 2:21.115 and the fast guys in my room were running 2:mid teens. Again I raced hard, got passed a few times and passed a few guys that ran off the track. I concentrated hard on keeping the car under control and on the track. I finished with 1 incident for exiting a corner too fast and going off the track slightly. Again I increased both my iRating and SR. Thanx to Helios for suggesting the Star Mazda, it is a very fun car to drive. Somewhat forgiving of small errors, but still can go completely out of control when pushed too hard, especially on corner exits or when touching the grass under power.

Keep in mind that Jarhead did about 90 official races in the three weeks or so it took him to get from Rookie to A.  This doesn't include the many time trials he had to do to meet the MPR requirements to level up his licenses.  He won't admit it, but he worked his ass off to do it that quickly.  Its hard, but doable.  It took me much longer, but I worked just as hard and it was well worth it.  With our A licenses, Jarhead and I now can run any non-pro series in iRacing, road or oval.

Wow Zero, I hadn't realized I had ran that many races.  And you are right about the time trials, because there aren't that many races with enough people to be official at the times I can race.  And for each time trial I ran, I had to spend a considerable amount of time learning the car/track combo.

For the Road side I mainly used the nVidia cup series to gain SR.  For ovals, I had to use whatever was available, the fixed Street Stock can't be run once you get to C class.  I ran 62 oval races and 25 road races.  The reason I ran so many ovals is because you can only gain .05 - .07 SR per incident free race for the lower class races.  For the road races, you can gain .15 - .20 per incident free race.

now you gotta get out of d class, cause theres no races available that werent in rookie if your sr is under 4.0.......the situation iam in right now........let me rephrase that there are now no races available without purchasing at least 6-8 tracks and a car :(

Caddy is hella fun and the iracing news confrence cup multi class with solstice and mx5.....love the game but should have realized to get the fullest out of it i was gonna be forced into buying all the content to participate in better series

Just bumped my sr 100 pionts to 4.63 in d class finished 3 races in the top 4 incident free but didnt get a promotion?  other thing ive noticed is that unless you drop close to $100 in content the only races you will be able to partake in is rookie series.......So in hind site unless your planning on purchasing content and sticking with the game the whole sr and liscene thing is pointless :(

Did you meet the MPR requirement for the C license?  If not, do that, but do the time trials.

Just check the series schedule and wait for a car/track combo to come up that you have.  Then do either 4 official races or time trials to get your MPR.  I would suggest the time trials if your SR is already over 4.00 so no other dumbshits can ruin it for you.

The SRF is available, but you need Watkins Glen in order to do this week's official races in that series.

Decided to not sot and wait, I purchased $70 of content entered a couple series and got my c class and completed the license requirements just need .15 Sr to fast track to b class. Probably will stop there since theres only 1 a class race that doesnt really interest me, all the stuff I like is in c and b...ill have my b class hopefully by tomorrow so i can now concentrate on my series and race! Got my wheel setup properly and everything feels great now :)

Since you are already at B, if you have the car and track for it, I would highly recommending continuing on to A class.

I know there is only one A Class road race series which I'm not interested in either, but there is another advantage to having an A class license though. Demotions.

Just as you can be promoted in iRacing, you can also be demoted. There are 2 ways to be demoted.

1. Fast Track: Any time your SR falls below 1.00, you will be immediately demoted to the next lower class.

2. End of Season: At the end of the season when they do the end of season promotions, they also do demotions. If your SR is between 1.00 and 1.99 at the end of season, you will be demoted to the next lower class. (this does not apply to A class licenses).

This is the one other advantage of an A class license. As long as your SR stays above 1.00 you cannot be demoted. For C and B class you must keep it above 2.00 to avoid end of season demotions.

D class licenses never get demoted, once you get out of rookie, you never go back. I don't know what would happen if a D class license had an SR of 0.00 though. Maybe they would just disappear, which would probably be a good thing anyway with an SR that low.

One other small advantage is having the blue stripes on the back of your car.  This will let everyone know you have an A class license and just might give you a little bit more respect sometimes.
