At this point in the season wins aren't a priority. Most of the meets up to the State meet might have 2-5 other guys in them. I'm just going for times but getting into a flow on what I've practiced on. Starts, turns, breathing and stroke count. The more you do competitions the less you end up spazzing out when you hit the water. As long as the pool meets USMS specifications (this one does) the times can be compared against other guys even if they swim in other states. 100 yards is a 100 yards. At State is when the big guns come out. Unless they hold off for Nationals this year at Indianapolis in mid May.
The 100 IM at State last year had 15 guys in it. The 50 free had 25. Diff between me (5th) and 1st in the IM was 1 second. Same amount between me (6th) in the 50 and 1st. But there are some young bucks (50-54) lol, coming up that should drastically lower those winning times. So work is in order.

Kids broke three school records while at State this weekend, school records, not State records, but they get their names on the walls!
3:33.88 400 free style relay (was a 30 year standing record till this weekend)
51.75 100 free style
1:06.95 100 breast stroke
so, this team over the course of this year has re[placed every record at the school except the 50 freestyle.
