Lobby chat worked because we were in a chat party and not using in-game chat. With everything else going on, we didn't try the idea of using a game as a "lobby" -- but just noting how long it takes for any game to load confirms my "time suck" hypothesis. Chat party of 12 isn't great, but it was functional and I still had a lot of fun plus the occasional kill. Thanks again to Deep for successfully herding the cats in the new Halo venue.
The new maps from 343 and Forge community were fun to play on last night. Thanks to skinnie for finding some good ones. Chat continues to be an issue and really can limit fun for those not able to communicate.
I, the big I, am opening this activity up to people under age 50. Why? Our numbers have been dwindling. Our good friends under 50 have been filling out the roster as required. So I do not intend to chase away good people just because they aren't old enough.
To be clear, the preference and bias are for those over age 50. This will be unregulated but if the balance switches to members under 50 then changes will be required.
Let me know when, so I can give you the newest release name. Kenjamin1 MI does race maps and BCyclops does slayer I think. You should check what they have too. :)
Last night was an especially good night for the old folks and Halo. The games were rousing, often close and the sounds of fun were everywhere. We had visitors join in and I think we were at 16 for awhile.
Amongst other maps, we played on really good remakes of The Pit and Terminal.
For me, after weeks of work, I got to see a somewhat finalized Stonehenge in action. Few things feel better than seeing people use your creation in ways you planned. I followed someone from pulling the flag, off a man cannon, teleport to top Great Trilithon and down through outer ring into the base for a cap. Feels good man.
How did the lobby work with more than 12? I was on H5 for a few minutes around 10 but the lack of lobby information is still a major pain. I deduced that the over 50 lobby was pretty full and decided to just bag it. Maybe next week.

It's still a big cluster fuck.
Live Lobby is pegged at 12 as you know. Everyone after that fends for themselves. Most of the late comers found their way, in turn, into the Live party as others dropped out.
We can easily run game chat and 8 player teams can communicate during a match but if any complications occur, you're fucked.
My recommendation is to arrive early or be prepared for mostly silence unless you can start a late comer chat or on the same team as another late comer.
In all of this, I don't mean "late comer" to be derogatory. It's just the way the cards fall when gathering the group.

i joined twice but was odd man out both times and just quit i have no intrest in gaming without riffraff
Full house for several games. Most if not all were over 50. It's always great for the first 12 into the Live Chat party. Not so great for those who come after.
McDad suggested we try game chat but setting for everyone and not just team. If that feature exists it might be workable. Still wouldn't be able to reasonably communicate during the lobby where the meat of organizing occurs. If I don't get it tested before next week we'll see if it is workable on Over 50 night. Bring your patience, as I have none.
Found that Station 7 is a better Terminal remake than the previous one we used. Even has a working train!
Based on my inspection, no such feature as game chat "everyone" exists. Switching between Party and Game chat is there but that has proven very confusing with people forgetting/failing to switch in time.
Yeah there is no everyone chat that I have seen. I switch between party and game chat on the party chat menu. I find I usually forget to do so when the game ends and sends you back to the lobby. When the game ends and I'm back in the lobby I just hit my guide button move over to the party scroll down and hit switch to party chat. Then right before we start the next game I switch to game chat the same way while still in the lobby so I'm not messing around in menus when the game starts. That doesn't solve the issue of having more than 12 people though. I don't think some of the guys know they can switch back using the guide button to party method if they forget to do it before the game ends though.
The key is that everyone is on the same page concerning switching between the 2 chats. Nothing more frustrating than having a teammate right next to you and you get sniped or smacked from behind without warning because teammate was in party chat and you weren't.
One possibility: if a 13th person joins, then next game split into two separate groups. Deep keeps one group of 8 and a volunteer (I could use the practice) runs the other group of 5 in hopes that it starts to build up. You could theoretically end up with two separate groups of 12 as the evening progresses. If both groups dwindle, then combine into one group of 12 again. Not my favorite solution, but at least no one has to play or lobby in dead silence.

It could work if we were more open towards those under 50. Especially the second party.
My latest version of Stonehenge is in my Bookmarks.
The recent tune ups include, swapping the camo and overshield to reduce Sniper/camo combo, stood up some weapons to improve visibility, eliminated an ankle catch while strafing on the slopes, addition of Carbine on left mini-base.
Hopefully these will be the last changes for awhile. After theatre becomes available, I'll be able to better check for poor map settings.

10 members for more than 2 hours. Good turn out and lots of fun. :)
Tried Warzone again. Terrible ... but I suppose we'll get the hang of it 'some day'.
Full house most of the night. We didn't go into Warzone this week.
One member was experiencing real lag. It wasn't pretty.
I sure wish we had the old chat capabilities of H2, 3, Reach and 4. It would be great to play with 16 again.
Full House again last night. Lots of fun. The cross talk between teams (Live Party of 12) adds to the enjoyable chaos.
We even had 13 for awhile with Skinnie jumping in. Too bad we couldn't talk to him and throw a few earned razzies at him. :)
Good size group and lots of fun. A little thin on people over age 50. Something to ponder on.
Destiny's draw is extremely high.

You're welcome. We had lots of fun. :)
Sorry for the interruptions trying to load my map.
I need to start looking into your maps asap.
will do

Maybe the Thurs night crowd can figure it out.
i have found somthing that we can do for chat but its goingt to require that you old fogies are willing to progress and not whine

I added 3 bookmarks. A great remake of Valhalla. Good remake of Citadel. Okay remake of Construct.
FYI.
3.3GB download for tonight's action.
Great games on those new maps last night. Thanks for turning out.
Lots of loud fun last night. Very bombastic. Literally.
I asked three times if anyone wanted to play on 343 maps. Not one request, so we played on custom maps all night. :)
We tried out Jamin's Brimstone and Ice Bear and had good fun.
Thanks for turning out.
BTW, who was it that was saying the man cannon wasn't delivering him to the destination on Stonehenge?
I'm trying to figure that mystery out. I think it was latency because someone was warping all over the place in that game.
