Iron Banner is Back!
Iron Banner started yesterday and I had a lot of fun last night, even though I played alone. Also, the bad thing about playing alone is you get a lot of join-in-progress games.
If any of you are playing, then please send me an invite.
I'm mainly grinding IB for the Etheric Light (and that sweet warlock bond...lol) as none of the armor or weapons are of interest.
Nearly joined you. Stuff got in the way.
I'll look for you Darth.
Same here.
Sounds good!
A few old folks kick some pretty good ass this aft. Seems easier than Crucible.
Lots of fun.
Yep, good games last night ladies and gents.
I plan to be on this evening for more IB. I'm about 3/4 way to Rank 3 and my Etheric Light, then I may switch to my Titan or keep grinding on my Warlock for Rank 5.
Same here. Looking for more IB this evening.
I read a post on DBO where someone just found out IB banner, mark and shader enhanced rep gains.
Just in case you people are correct, I'll wear a IB banner today.
On the other hand, bucking the system and still getting treats fits my style better.
This article (not official) indicates each of emblem, shader and mark add a stacking 10%.

I hate this crap. You try to build an identity in this game and Bungie road blocks your every choice.
You don't have to wear the emblem, shader and class item, but it benefits you if you do with a bonus modifier.
Wear one - 10%
Wear two - 21%
Wear three - 33%
And that does not include the buff you can purchase.
I put a lot of effort into FWC gear. Some people out similar effort into IB gear. It's seems odd one path rewards more than another.
We are already pretty much a captive audience to IB because it can be a guaranteed source of Etheric light.
Additional bonus points come from the buff and increase during the week up to 150% by the last day [http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Tempering].
Plus with HoW now your lower level IB characters will rank up much, much faster. I read somewhere you get an extra 200% until your character reaches the same rank as your highest character. Get one toon to Rank 3, and then play the others to get your additional Etheric Light as quickly as possible.
To me it's worth it to re-brand as an Iron Banner toon while in matches, it's only for a short time and you still wear most of your regular gear. Sorta like when pro sports teams play their All-Star games. The IB stuff is only special for the appearance, the perks generally suck compared to other legendary gear. I have a full set of the old stuff on my Titan but only put it on when I want to feel pretty lol.
If on and not otherwise fireteamed, feel free to send an IB invite.
I'm a little slow, but I finally got the memo that IB might be one of the rare chances to upgrade my armor, so I signed up yesterday. I could swear I shed enough virtual blood yesterday to paint all the crucible levels a solid red. If only I can get to rank 3, oh please, oh please....
Also make sure you purchase a buff, that will add a multiplier for all experience you earn from bounties, wins, and turning in Turds of Shame
Amazing how the buff works. I turned in a 100 point bounty last night with the buff turned on (and with an IB emblem and shader -- don't forget that) and got 171 points!! Got me to level 3 on my Warlock and an Etheric Light!! Today is Titan day.
Holy crap we've been playing a lot of IB.
Level 5. 2 etheric light. Phew!
A LOT of work. I'll have to re-think this effort next time.
Plenty of fun mixed in.
I will probably bet working on getting my Hunter to Level 3 tonight if people are still wanting to grind out a few more games. I did get my Warlock and Titan to Level 5, but ran out of steam when I started to work on my Hunter. If I can at least get to Level 3 for one Etheric Light, I'll be satisfied.
Lots of fun this past week though playing with all of you. Win or lose, we usually have fun!
Bounties were worth more than 500 points yesterday, more today. If you can get all 6 done and win a half dozen games you have a good shot at getting your Hunter to 5.
Tons of fun, infinitely more enjoyable than ToO last week. I may still dip a toe back in that pool again this weekend tho.
I got my Hunter to Rank 4 very quickly and could have made it to Rank 5 if I wanted to grind out a few more bounties. Overall though, I'm happy with my IB haul of 5 Etheric Light, all of the new class items, and a few sweet IB weapons. Now I need to farm some glimmer - I have less than 3000 glimmer after all of these purchases and re-rolling weapons.
Same here. 5 etheric lights, Titan and Warlock up to 34, Hunter to 33, some neat weapons, and NO glimmer left (852 I think). Bottom line though is that IB was a lot of fun.
Would you all do it again and with the same fervor?
I'd be hard pressed to expend that much effort into PvP again. (I had fun too but worn out now.)
I may not push as hard during the next Iron Banner, but I expect I'll still need Etheric Light, so I'll probably hit the grind. Plus it depends on how many others are playing because playing with randoms is tough.
Overall though, I had a lot of fun and played with many of you that I've either not played with or had very limited play, so it was good.
Congrats on the loot and rank-ups guy. It was a helluva lot more fun playing with you all than with the randoms.
To DEEP's point - yeah, it's a grind but then so is this whole game. I love it though.
Not sure about pushing to get to 5 next time, hopefully Etheric Light will be a little easier to get elsewhere by then. I'll be in it at least to get to 3 for some E-Light and whatever armor piece is available.
I managed to get both of my level 32 characters up to rank three to score my first two etheric lights. Hilariously, my K/D on both characters is exactly 0.48. So I'm very consistent...ly bad. Then again, I have very little PvP experience, and certainly don't know the levels very well yet. I was intending to ignore PvP entirely, but could not resist the tasty rewards. Despite my poor numbers, it was a lot more fun than I thought, and I'm looking forward to next time.
Not sure about the grind either. It was a bad weaher week so I was inside most of the time on the XBONE. One interesting note. When I played solo in the morning, I was on the winning team most of the time. Maybe blind luck, but with 3 or 4 of us knowing what to do, many of those games were not even close. Different story in the evenings and weekend. Glad I had peeps to play with.
This was the first time I played Iron Banner matches more than once or twice. I was still pretty skeptical, playing just a match here and there, until Saturday and Sunday when I started actually completing bounties, competing on winning teams (with friends and solo), and actually leveling up. I only made it to level 2, but still had fun, and learned a lot in the process. Next time IB rolls around, if I have the time, I hope to give it a full effort.
