Currently Playing:

I could be wrong on this, but I believe Halo runs at 720p @ 30fps.  COD doesn't it runs at  somewhere in the 600p @ 60fps.

What? And it still looks this bad?

Seriously, it looks horrible.

Halo 3 ran at 640p, upscaled to 720p. The native resolution of the game was 1152×640

Reach added another 80 or so lines of horizontal resolution, for 1152 x 720 pixels

Call of Duty ran at 1040 x 600 resolution, with 2x multi-sampling anti-aliasing.

The resolution of CoD is a bit lower, but the game runs at TWICE the framerate.  The tradeoff is well worth the loss of resolution, imo.  No one can look at CoD vs Halo and say "CoD seems to be running at 50 lines of resolution lower", even if the games were playing side-by-side.   But the difference in framerate would be obvious.

Framerate in itself is a visual feature, and imo is one of the most important features of a fast-paced first person shooter.  Controls feel much more responsive, and everything seems much more fluid and realistic.

I'm the same way. I will buy both titles and I hope both are good.

I'd buy Elite again*. I would have bought all the map packs anyhow, so it saved me money, and I've certainly made use of the extra video slots and whatnot.

*that's significant, since I'm so stronly against things like online passes that I'm boycotting EA.

Did they even release enough map packs to make the price of Elite worth it?  Because just paying 1 cent for  Elite service is too much. That's the biggest piece of shit website I've ever seen, and I'm saying that after I've seen V3.  wink
