[GT6] Thursday Nights - 19:00 - 22:00 EST

If you’re interested in clean and laid back racing using production cars then Thursday evening’s may be right for you. Every Thursday evening from 7-10 EST Parcells hosts a friends only lobby where we run cars directly from the Manufacturer, no upgrades, add an oil change and race the bastards.

The rules are very simple, we have only 2 of them…

  1. Don’t be a dick
  2. Drive clean

Format:

Each week we choose 2 cars to run and race each for 1.5 hours. The tracks can be predetermined OR voted for the night we race them. ANYONE can submit a car to run for a given week and if you choose the car you also have the privilege of choosing what tracks you want to run or we can simply pick the tracks come race time it’s your call. Usually run anywhere between 5-7 races with each car.

There are no upgrades or tuning allowed but if the consensus is to use a different tire compound than the default that can happen. Typically we just leave the default tire as-is. All cars also require an oil change.

The cars and tracks for each week will be documented in the second post of this thread.

Room Settings:

Draft is set to weak but just about everything else is at the highest SIM setting. Vehicle tuning is prohibited. You can use any assist you like except for Skid recovery which is forced off. Grid order is reverse of previous race results and penalties are left OFF (random ghosting sucks).

General notes of interest:

  1. Each race runs anywhere between 8-15 minutes. The fewer people the shorter the race will be. Try to provide enough laps for the faster guys to get to the front of the field in a clean and orderly fashion.
  2. You’ll need to be a friend of “Parcells2” to join the friends only room. I check my PS3 messages before I open the lobby each week (ONLY before - 9 times out of 10) for new friend requests.
  3. Anyone can submit a car/track combo via PM or post your request in this thread.
  4. Parcells needs to approve each car entry before it is accepted. I will approve every request unless it’s a car we’ve a) recently run b) too expensive (discretionary – cant have overly expensive cars every week) or c) A car Parcells really despises – artistic impression if you will.
  5. If no requests are received for a given week Parcells will choose the car and/or tracks. You won’t be disappointed…most of the time.
  6. Parcells reserves the right to alter any or all of the above rules/guidelines as he sees fit with or without sufficient warning to participants.

If you have any questions about anything feel free to contact me via PM or post.

So this Thursday we’ll just wing it all night with either One Make and/or whatever common cars we have – sure to have at least half a dozen the same else you wouldn’t have advanced to On-line mode yet. But what ideas do you guys have brewing for the following weeks cause I want to go spec cars real quick.

For the first couple of months we’ll have to be cognizant of the fact some people simply won’t have a shit load of credits so we’ll have to keep the spec cars pretty tame as we get our feet wet. That said a $100,000 limit or thereabouts for the first month seems doable do you agree (to include upgrades)? Come January we should be able to gift cars too so that should open up more options if some people are struggling for credits.

I still got my eyes on that Renault Turbo 5 but the Clio we all should have won by now was a blast to drive wouldn’t mind using that for our first week’s spec car. Was great as-is but throw a little more power and/or grip on that puppy and we have something to work with...it’s a Clio for fucks sake, how could we possibly go wrong?

Let me know what you think. We have until 7:00 p.m. next Sunday to decide.

Spec cars – You’ve all read the OP (please re-read spec car rule #6) so you know ANYONE can build a spec car for a given week and we can schedule these out weeks in advance. Consider this fair warning that if no one steps up with recommendations rest assured the first few months of spec cars will be a collection of Parcells favorites…I’ll have no problem coming up with cars for quite a while smiley so don’t be shy.

That said we still need to decide on the Dec 19 spec car and it MUST be shared and documented no later than this Sunday at 7:00 EST. If you guys feel its appropriate to allow Parcells to choose the first week car that makes sense not a problem at all but feel free to offer anything up for any week just keep the costs reasonably cheap for a bit.

If no one wants to recommend a car for Dec. 19 I will choose the Clio we all won for completing the Novice level, apply some minimal upgrades to it and post the build this Saturday…and if you’ve already done this (like Snappy has apparently) and really like your build (I was OK stock) feel free to share it and we can use that build no problem.

Thursday night’s only turn into a dictatorship when the participants start acting like dickheads such as choosing oval tracks to run every second race…there’s only so much agony a Parcells can handle before he cracks, I’m sure you understand.

What day of the week are you thinking of running this for the Euro Guys?

I tried that in an arcade race with that off track setting as REAL at Nordschleife and tha is no joke.  You even think about coming close to the track edge and your going around.

Not sure as it was at night and must have looped it 5 times during the lap. angry  One thing about GT, it really forces you keep all four wheels on the track especially in the straights under full power.  You get a tire off track and you dont loose a little speed, you go spinning and hope no one is around you when it happends.

Parcells - What PP ranges are you looking at running this week?  That might help ensure we all have cars in those PP ranges

whatever we choose to run, I have no idea. I'm not expecting anyone to have any cars in your own garage and I know xsitement doesn’t have the 25 anniversary cars so IF we run any of our own cars it will definitely only be ones we all have won via opening the on-line mode. The game offers us 20 “One make” cars (not sure how or when this list changes but it did change a little in GT5 depending on the track you chose) from very fast to very slow to somewhere in between…we’ll just pick one of these, run three races, rinse and repeat and generally see what on-line offers us. If you’ve opened up on-line mode you are ready for week one with GT6.

Parcells calls at least one race this Thursday to involve a qualy session.

Parcells calls at least one race this Thursday to require a pit stop...I wont set the pit as mandatory but will set it up so you will run out of gas before completing the race so you decide if you want to pit or not.

Parcells does not call a night race this Thursday...no need to I'm quite certain you guys will demand a night race or two so these are on you guys cheeky

Who wants to try some dirt racing?

So for this week the cars will be stock, no tuning or adjustments?  For some reason I was thinking this was going to be "run what you brung" kinda thing with a PP limit of 400 (or something similar) that way we could atleast have a tuned car to race with if we wanted.  As for tracks, I'm open to anything

Yes Sir, stock cars this week. Might be able to run a PP style race but no guarantee everyone has a suitable car plus with so many things to check out we wont run out of things to do I'm sure. Should be fun.

Did I mention newbies should allow the GT5 regulars easy passing opportunities especially the host?

Hey Parcells. You might want to warn all these new guys about our buddy ruddy 2uesday. He's quite the act. Maybe I will drop off a bottle of wine to him before the race lol.

Bottle of wine? After our Thanksgiving night of racing I assumed Dan prefers "jugs of wine" from the local KMart no doubt? LOL.

Dan's nothing more than a harmless loud mouth Shnook, no worries :)
