I tell ya, if it's a save to car vrs save to community....
A lot of it's staying on the car...seriously wondering if there's a gift option at this point, and if not, how the heck do you get a paint with your own number short of painting it yourself? Which is why I started in the first place...
Sorry, I haven't bought into the whole Cloud crap. If I need more storage.....I buy another HD. I still look at this "Cloud" as though I'm staring into the Abyss. I'm going to send all my data...out there somewhere...where supposively someone is keeping tabs on it. But as soon as I decide to quit spending on a subscription, everything that is there is lost (like iRacing). That's my beef with it.....not so much the conspiracy theory stuff. The conspiracy theory stuff is just too much fun to play on.
I would imagine you can still paint and save to your own cars/garage (be frigging stupid if you couldn't). It would also be stupid if you couldn't gift paints anymore. But it sounds like the whole sharing bit is up in the air.

I agree with all points, except the one about iRacing. With iRacing, if you discontinue your membership, the content you licensed remains with that dormant account and if you resume your membership, it will be there. So, you only "lose" it if you let your membership lapse and don't ever renew it. Also, with iRacing, you can find a $50 per year deal on Black Friday for a one year membership renewal. You can get up to $45 in credits for doing two or more official series each season (max of $10 per season) and if you have a whole year or membership ($5). This effectively means I pay $5 per year for my iRacing membership.
I like the cloud storage deal on my PC via Steam because I can delete the game and re-install it later without worrying about losing my game save. I am not sure how it would be all that great on Xbox or Playstation.
I pre-ordered the Xbox One today at Best Buy. I had to put down a $25 deposit. I also pre-ordered Forza 5 and had to put down a $5 deposit.
Zero Making a Comback?
Sorry to disappoint, but the multiplayer sim racing I do these days is on my PC, in particular in iRacing and rFactor. Part of it is ovals. The NASCAR in iRacing is the best out there. Forza's and GT5's NASCAR and ovals are pathetic compared to iRacing. On the road side, I do a couple of series in iRacing featuring the Cadillac CTS race car and the Star Mazda open wheeler. That being said, rFactor (and soon rFactor 2) provides all of the road racing goodness I could want for multiplayer. Forza and GT5, on the other hand, have the best sim racing career modes and so I anticipate playing Forza 5 primarily in career mode. Don't get me wrong, I do miss the 2Old4Forza gang, but I just am not as interested in the Forza multiplayer and I am not confident that Forza 5 will change that.
Was anybody "wowed" now that they have seen a little bit of Forza 5?
Its difficult for me to determine how great the graphics are without seeing the game in person. From the reviews it's been getting at E3 it sounds like the improvement is drastic. Personally, I believe graphics are very important so I'm excited to see how it looks.
T10 has apparently made some further tweaks to the physics in the game. They claim it is completely new from the ground up. Hopefully they haven't ruined it. I think the partnership with Calspan will turn out to have been a good decision.
We only know of one new track thus far but it sounds like we may see some new ones in the very near future. How T10 could possibly ignore the cries from nearly all of their community to please add more tracks is beyond me. There just have to be some new ones. Am I crazy?.......Don't answer that.
The addition of open wheel cars, for me, was a very pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to spec/series races with those. Hopefully, painting them won't be as painfull as some of the R1 cars can be.
The wheel compatability issue is still unresolved but we at least know that one wheel will be compatible. Sadly, the rest of us will have to wait and see. The new game pad is getting good reviews. The two triggers have vibration motors which supposedly adds to the immersion.
We still don't know about triple screens but my guess is that very few people would try it if 3 machines and 3 copies of the game were required. I highly doubt it would be possible with just one of these machines.
Well it would be hella easy to switch over from playing forza5 on the xbox one with maybe limited clan members playing that, to switching over to the 360 and forza 4 to race with others all while on live. Don't know much about the feature but it's like having a full blown backward compatibility sort of isn't it?
I'm guessing this thread has turned into the defacto Forza 5 / XBox One thread, so I'll post this link here.
Top gear UK interviews Dan Greenawalt. Some tidbits about, AI, painting options and confirmation that the Aston Martin CC100 will be in Forza 5 although it's uncertain if it'll be on the disc or offered later as DLC. My guess is launch day DLC.
Thomas didn't really answer the question except to tell him that an XBox 360 peripheral will not work on the XBox One. We know this. The issue is can the Fanatec wheel be updated to be compatible with the next gen consoles. To that end, Thomas hasn't had much to offer except to say, 'we're working on it."
A couple of posts later we have this conversation.
Hello Thomas, I must really say that I'm really amazed by your statement that you have no idea what the future of connectivity in the future will be with the new Xbox.
In my eyes, it clearly shows that you have no more influence with your company to influence certain developments. Instead of looking at MS a distinct "standing" created to be exactly the opposite happens, and that is that MS as a small supplier does (which is certainly in relation to sales) is true, however, with regard to forums, review sites, club sites has a significant marketing technical impact .
Why do I waste time in these lines? I am an IT consultant for IT infrastructure services, cloud services and especially commercial models and advise mid-sized and large corporations for many years.
I have observed Fanatec has long been a fan, but saw many essential problems that are verkaufsverhindernd.
1 Communication with the leading decision makers in MS and Sony
2 Insignificant posts make the customer only "get"
3 Release dates are not met (do not post it before the product is finished and is in D. machs like Apple!
4 Stop this forum platform without purpose. A "pooling" has meaning only when the market is in demand here and just the same people frolicking (in number, let me guess 200) that can not be representative
Think you're from the area and developers are in the purely commercial rail grown without knowing what all coming at you.
I am happy to meet you to talk to me about it, I live in Munich.

Thomas' reply...
Your offer is very nice but please do not underestimate us. We know what is important and have the right people to contact. But the issue is more complex than it appears to the outside.
And I can only tell a fraction of what goes on behind the scenes. We are already tuned ...
I know were a very small subset of the overall gaming culture but given their DRM reversal maybe now's a good time to voice our concerns while they're in a giving mood.
I also added my thoughts. The more I have thought about this, the more pissed off I get. As many of you have pointed out in your posts, we bought Fanatec Forza Motorsport branded wheels with the understanding and expectation that they would work with Forza. New console or not, its ridiculous to me that a CSR or CSR Elite wheel would work with Gran Turismo on PS3 and Drive Club and Gran Turismo 7 on PS4, but not with Forza 5. M$ should abandon the XID protocol entirely and go with the HID protocol, which would allow a wide variety of wheel users to use their wheels on their console. They can still work with Thrustmaster to develop a Forza 5 "official wheel", but I see no reason to lock out other wheel users. Although wheel users are a small minority, we are growing in numbers, as evidenced by the growth in companies such as Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec.
Pre-ordered an Xbone and a copy of Forza 5 today. Should we start a list of who will be on for Day One? I can edit the OP to add the list and keep it up to date.
Also, I'd like to hear what you guys think of xbox Smart Glass. I used it on my iPad with horizon and it was really cool. I just couldn't get into Horizon. What do you guys think it could be used for in FM5? Here are a few ideas I have:
- T10 could create a pit stop menu and racers could select what they want. Tires, fuel level etc.
- Use it to monitor telemetry instead of having your TV screen filled up and getting distracted.
- a live running list of competitors lap times, sector times etc. could be a little distracting. LOL
I know, they may not use it at all but I'm just thinking out loud here.
I'm not going to be making the jump to the Xbone - so no forza 5 for me, will instead be getting Project CARS and an Oculus Rift, and probaby GT6.
Not you too...

Night racing - don't get me started.
I hope so, I need some one to torment in the corners...
Be forewarned.....he's gotten faster..gif)
Me too I'm told.
Dunno if this has been posted yet. So I'll do it anyways. http://www.twitch.tv/microsoftstudios/b/415729737
This could be pretty awesome imo! Plugging in your 360 to the xbox one.
http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/xbox-360-owners-will-be-able-plug-curr...
Not trying to be a dick here. I honestly dont know why...why would you plug your 360 into your XOne when you can just play your 360?
Well it would be hella easy to switch over from playing forza5 on the xbox one with maybe limited clan members playing that, to switching over to the 360 and forza 4 to race with others all while on live. So, you preordered it so you could diss our fun?
I don't understand?
Wheels, can you explain it in layman's terms to me?
Theory is, IF the 360 servers are down, this would enable games to still be played through the XB1 servers...
personally I haven't a clue. many 360 games are peer to peer aren't they?

Not sure how much of an impact it'll make but I added a reply to a wheel thread on XBox Live's Forums. Poidsly has as well.

Yeah, posted there as it seemed doing something is better than nothing.
if other fanatec owners want to do the same great.
I added my thoughts to the thread and hope all Fanatec users to do so also.
me 2
