I have hit a plateau with my driving.  I would like some help. Usually available nights after 8pm EST but I'm on much earlier some times. I find that I keep doing the same things and need to brake some bad habbits.  I just don't know what those bad habbits are.  Should I start from scratch?

Sounds like you're ready for the advanced class. I'll get with you this week & we'll try to have a little session if you want. Dunno how much help I will be, but we can try.

Thanks J.  I think you've seen what I'm talking about.  Sometimes fast, sometimes...not so much.

J - from memory, work on improving his brakes and transition to late apexs. He's looking to start carrying more speed in and out of corners using maximum track width.    I'd say, work on different corner types and probably work in a car you know well, like 997. Mugello would be my track of choice :)

Hope this helps :)

Join in on a lesson, Dude.  We can both pick up some pace and continue our battles.  You're usually on at the same time we are, right?

Sounds good to me, I'd like to see myself being able to challenge some of the martians in this club...or at least Sarcasmo and Cotter. Just invite me in whenever you've got a session going and I'll be there.

Ya know tourni, I created a Tesla the other day & got tho thinking that it would be a perfect trning car. It's only got 1 speed, & no engine noise. so people can really concentrate solely on their lines & braking points without having to worry about gear selection. Plus without engine noise, you can hear exactly when the tires start to complain a little. I really do think that it's got potential to work on people's precision.

1  I've been using the Tesla since day 1.  First because I just like the car.  I don't claim to know if it made me faster or not.  I found that being able to hear the tire sounds only was quite helpful with learning the tracks.  Also find it relaxing running the tracks with it while listening to my favorite music.  No engine sounds messing with the tunes. 11

How do I keep my focus! SERIOUSLY!!

Whenever I do any distance racing I'm normally good for the first 30-40% of the race then I seriously start to make mistakes. This normally last's up to around 70% of the race until I have then fell back so much I get my head back on and go for it again.

Normally its too late and I screw my race up.

So how do you keep you head on the game. Any tips will be much appreciated!

Its a very good question actually Church.  Any competitive sport require focus and an ability to maintain focus for the duration of the sport.   You cant expect to make a 100% perfect run, if you did then you just wouldn't be human.   Mistakes usually start after about 30 minutes of driving, they'll continue in small successions and then normalise out.  Another thing is to make sure you know what to do when you make each mistake, or where to drive the car hard and where not to.    By that i mean, if there is sticky sand either side of the circuit then it would be a good idea to find a nice consistent fast line through there rather than pushing it for every tenth :)   Know that the other line exists and use it when you have too, but not all the time :)

So, you know your lines on a track right? so use that as your first point of focus - if you start cocking it up then look at your apexs  and try to zero in on them, first and foremost, forget about the guy in front for now.    Watch that braking point come to you, nail it, bring the car in and feed the power on.   Some times a deep breath can help you calm down or in gizzies case - light another.

another way to focus, is to back of.  Yes, slow down for a lap or two and then get back on it. You'll be suprised to see how much it helps :)

Hope this helps a little :) - see you in the britcar :D

Cheers Tourni.

I will remember to follow safer lines when I have no pressure on yes

If i'm all over the place I will remember to slow it a little bit.

The best advice I can give regarding focus is this...Like Tourni said,, nobody is ever going to have a perfect race. When you do make a mistake, slow down & try to settle back into a rhythm. Concentrate on hitting your marks again. This will help most after a big mistake. Remember, if you have a big slide, the tires are going to be very hot & slippery because of the extra pressure generated from the heat. Back off a bit until the tires have had a chance to cool back down some & the car will settle in more easily.

Hey,

This is an awesome idea, I'm hoping to receive my new wheel soon and will definetly be putting in the hours to get used to it and try to improve my driving. If there are any of these training days still in action please add me as Id love to join..

im really interested in just viewing training days in the mean time until my whel arrives if that's possible? That way I can learn techniques etc while I wait for my wheel/pedals.

if anyone has any training days on please let me know :)

I prefer to do my sessions by request. Just let me know when you'd like to get together & we'll make it happen. You'd probably be best off if you wait until your wheel arrives. That way you can get behind the wheel & I can actually coach you. I've not been on much as of late dude to an injury, but I am starting to feel better, so I'm about tready to get back on the track.

That would be fantastic!

I was playing today (with my WSW) and it's just so awful to use on forza :(

There is just no feeling what so ever, no connection to game, the best I could manage was top 24% on the rivals Ferrari challenge (which is an embarrasing 6000+ position).

So I'm hoping we can improve on that at the very least, you'll have your work cut out...

Fanatec are shipping at the end of October, my stand arrived last week, chair tomorrow and then just pedals, wheel and shifter to go, all of which are on order and awaiting dispatch, so hopefully not to long to go now :)

I hope your injury wasn't anything too serious? I'm glad to hear you are feeling better though.

Anytime that's good for you will be great for me, I'll make sure of it, as I sincerely appreciate your time, effort, help and tutorial!

thanks again, If you drop me a FR I'll message you as soon as my gear arrives :)

Thanks again,

I actually encourage my students to learn how to drive properly before trying to tackle tuning. Some of my best cars have a sport supsension 7 very limited tunability built in, but can still beat most folks when I'm havng a good day. LEt me know when you'd like to get together for a session & we'll get you sorted out.

I'm available on weekends anytime 7 after 3pm central through the week.

heyas,

I could do with a little help setting up/upgrading my cars in Forza Horizon. Feels like I come up short on acceleration and top speed in multiplayer races a lot of the time. Also interested to learn a bit more about the differences between road and offroad setups. Right now I pretty much end up with the same thing on all cars and pi classes for any kind of track and that can`t be right. I`m pretty clueless in this area so just some basic info and pointers would be great.

Msg me here or on xbox live (id: rReves) if you can help me out. I`ll be around for a bit still, or some other time will be fine too.

thx

I got rid of my copy of horizon unfortunately.

Hey snoop, pizzy, & Unicorn, Any chance we can reschedule to tomorrow? I've had a client call on short notice, so I'm not going to be home at my normal time. It may be too late when i do make it home for you guys across the pond. so perhaps 9pm  ish GMT on tuesday then?

Hi Reves,

I don't have forza horizon but with forza weight and torque are most contributing to accelleration, bhp usually goes with top end.

On road setups tend to be a bit firmer as the road is smoother and the suspension doesn't have to work as hard to keep the tyre on the ground.  Off road setups will tend to be a little bit looser to keep the turn in sharp.   One of the guys who run this will have more of an insight :)

I would like to try and find a night or two even this week to run some laps if your available JC.  It was fun today but know I need some help (serious help if you ask the wife).  Earlier in the week is better than later for me.  PST here.

Thanks!
