I'm a big fan of the new Doctor Who series, so it would only seem natural that I would gravitate to its spinoff show, Torchwood. For the record, Torchwood is an anagram of "Doctor Who". Apparently the story goes that when the first season of the new Who was being filmed, the tapes were being sent to the BBC honchos for viewing. Fearful of pirates (YARR!) they made up "TORCHWOOD" and labeled all the Who tapes as such to throw people off the track.

So day 6 of the mid-life crisis (also known as me taking up the bass again) is going well. I'm up to a whopping 2 songs I know for sure I can play all the way through now without embarrassing myself, the newest addition being Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones. Yeah, yeah...I know its only 3 notes, but still! I'm working on several other songs right now, some I played 15 years ago and some I never did. I'm trying to get a decent variety of music in there, I don't want to just play metal. I've got some rock, some metal, some Texas rock in the hopper...I'll probably work on some Beach Boys, F

How the fuck did Howie Long get in and Richard Dent not? I know Long is a good ol'boy on the Fox network and his induction was purely political...right wheels greased, etc. Long was a nice tackle, but HoF? Nah. He's a VC vote-in 20 years down the line. Meantime Dent, who's been eligible for at least 5 years I believe (and yeah I know Long got in awhile ago) had a bit of a career himself. Lets look at the career numbers:

I had the bass, amp, and other related goodies delivered to work and they showed up yesterday. Was a bit of a struggle to get it out to my car (though I had plenty of offers of help from my buddies at work) and then carry it into my apartment, but I got it done. Lugging a 70lb amp with a herniated disc is probably not a great idea, but I think I'm far enough along in recovery that it shouldn't have done any damage.
