Parcells concurs Tourni. Really had fun with this series, all but one race provided me with some fantastic close battles and that was only because I spent most of that race in front = boring! Not the least of which was yesterday’s race where I started dead last in 15th spot and slowly worked my way up to second (not a bit of damage mind you wink) before Church’s no-pit strategy pushed me to third.

Hats off to two of the newer guys…Smokezuna and Jonnyfocus…was real fun (and not easy) trying to get by you two who both drove extremely well.

I agree on Parcells comments! Last nights race was seriously good fun, because it was so hard! 5 sometimes 6 cars fighting for one position was crazy! And i loved it!!

Best season yet Tourni. Cheers fella yes (No wait the Fiat 500's where the best. No really!)

Just wanted to say thanks to Tourni.

Handicaps allowed some fabulously close racing.

While I'm glad I chose to put myself in veteran for the last few races, I think I'm going to shift down a class in future in order to compete with those uber quick times we were seeing that put people many thousands of feet ahead by the end of the race. Its the only way to compete.

Not an alien. Just reasonably quick :)

Good job Tourni.

It should be those guys running away to be moving up a class.

Somehow is seemed like the 1:46.xxx target time got changed to 1:44.xxx.  I could've been in Novice in these cars and not have hit those times.  I was running Club and half my times were 1:50+.  A good lap I could pull a 47 or 48, but not consistently.  As such, I was pretty much way off the back, especially after some door to door contact that led to a spin and wreck into the wall (25% damage to sides and rear).  Very boring race except for the couple laps Cilleti decided to drop back and say hi.....before leaving me to my own vices again.  cheeky

That's the tough part of handicaps...you have guys that are looking to win, and the guys that are looking for a good race.  When it works, it works well.  When it doesn't, then you get 3 or 4 guys that check out w/o any hope of catching short of a catastrophic event.

That said, you're in a pickle Poids, like me.  You slot somewhere inbetween Vet & Pro (me towards the lower end of Club, track pending)

Looks like your the first 2.

Also the people who hit 44s (me included) were in pro.

The only reason I came second was due to not pitting as from lap 6 I was avg 48s (we even as hi as 51s)

Maybe you should run a few races with no handicap's so I can beat you even more? Would that make it a better race for you? or isn't running 10 - 15 laps all bunched up like we was  close enough?

Sorry fells but you come in here calling people cheeters isnt going to get you very few. Probly best you have shown yourself out of the door before some one did it for you.

As always

Kind regards

CP

Forza is a game guys, lets not take it so seriously.  Winning isn't everything, and even if it were, only one person wins each race.  Relax.  smiley

Good god, what on earth is going on here! Some faces I have never seen calling folk I have raced with many times cheats? I suggest if you feel that way you pass on by. That kind of accusation from new members is uncalled for and misinformed.

It is not at all unusual to pull out a faster lap even a personal best during a race, I know I have done it, sometimes it is following a faster driver and copying a line, or being shown that with a little more balls you dont need to lift through that curve. Or just the presure of the race pulls that little extra 10% effort.

Pull your neck in, and retract. Or find another club, because that kind of attitude will find you no friends here,

I lost track of this thread for a couple of days & all hell breaks loose wtf. Smoku & thrust, I'm really suprised to hear you guys saying this stuff when you've barely been here long enough to blink. People do pick up their times in a long race sometims ya know. I, for instance generally get on for a race with no practice beforehand. so my laps ultimately pick up over the course of the race as I get more comfortable. The whole point of handicapping is to keep the slow guys close enough to you to be able to keep up & learn something. Series rules are left up to the person who is hosting the series. If you don't like the way a series is set up, then don't run it. everyone here is free to do their own thing. Perhaps after your earlier statements it would be best if you & anyone else who shares your feelings should be on your merry way. we don't need that kind of shit here.

LOL, unbelievable. I think you have to be over 25 AND mature...( at least reasonably...I try)

I've had calm reasonable discussions about gun control and they get bent over an online race and handicaps? Cest la vie? (I do not speak this language...)

Now, who can I insult that has a thicker skin?

Parcels?

Where'd you go?

Sorry for the drama gang. I hate having to step in & give someone the boot. But I will do it if I have to. Thankfully dochebags of smoko & Thrust's quality are a rare occurrence. I can still count on one hand the number of times I've had to bring down the ban-hammer.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion here, but they do not have the right to belittle our group. Like church said a couple of posts up... If you have a problem with a series/event or the way it's been set up, contact the series host via pm. The series host does have the final say though. If you don't like it, then don't run that series/event. It's not like there aren't plenty of other series/events to choose from. If not, then folks are always welcome to start their own series/events here too. Secondly, if you do spot a problem, then think about how you would solve it & let us know rather than just bitching & stirring up a big shit storm. We all want the same thing here. In the immortal words of Rodney King..Why can't we all just hit a bong....er..get along.

Something else to bear in mind. We as hosts are doing the best we can to make the racing as competitive as possible. Given our limited capabilities within the game's parameters, we do the best we can. But when you have a wide range of skill levels, you're never going to make everyone even. Practice is the best equalizer.

Yeah, and these guys ( the aliens) have some big hearts too. I mean, look at the handicaps we put on Track Assassin sometimes when we're running, and he still manages to do the impossible it seems.

Racing's a state of mind, mental state perhaps, why would anyone race smart cars, but I digress. racings about who's on the track, not the car, not the last lap, all the laps...

Oh, and who looks good, I mean, right? cool

The thing is, the handicaps that are available ingame are hugely flawed, IRL you either get a weight penalty or other series like Dutch Supercar Challenge the best combos are being held in the pits longer during the mandatory pitstop. I don't mind running around with a handicap to give better racing but forza's options are terrible.

Sunday I had a good race with General E Dead running max handicap against none. Before I pitted I was running in 3rd behind Supernova & General. I had closed a small gap on them while running low 1.44s. I was stuck behind General with absolutely no chance of passing him despite being able to go faster, actually gave him a few tips that helped him while I was there. After he pitted I decided to stay out a little longer & managed to get in front of him by less than a 100ft & was right behind supernova. Then I had to push like crazy for a couple of laps just to make sure I had a big enough lead going onto the back straight, I needed at least 150 ft to have a chance to keep my position. I think I averaged something like a 1.43.5 on the first five laps after pitting with a 1.43 flat mixed in.

Tourni, maybe a suggestion for your next series, instead of running 10,15 & 20 % power try 5, 10 & 15 power & grip. It would make the faster guys less dominating during cornering while also being less vulnerable down straights with the added bonus that cars should wear their tires equally regardless of handicaps.

As I told them directly in an earlier post, I think those guys were just pissed that they got their asses kicked in the recent Playboy Cup races.  They alleged sandbagging in qualifying, which they equate to cheating, to justify finishing behind the top guys.  If they want to win races here, they will need to practice, practice, practice.  Its that simple.

You know, I ran one of the recent Yaris races, handicapped race, and Fitzy, bless his heart ( that's southern BTW) looked at my ass the whole race, and never once complained, got mad, griped, nothing.

Of course he had a good view of me struggling to keep myself on the track too, so I think he understood ( wrong tune didn't help). But I took the last podium slot, and Fitz was a gentleman through and through.

(Where's that damn delete button?)

I've been using 5, 10, & 15% handicaps for the porsche & it works quite well. I think one of the big issues you may be having here is that the 20% is too much even for the fast guys to keep up. Just my .02.

I know what your trying to say, basically the best thing would be if there were no power handicaps, only grip. Then we would basically have to rely on our lines through the corners to get the laptimes. It would also give the slower guys a much better view of how we drive, basically I think they would be able to learn proper racing technique a lot quicker without the reliance on power.

Just my .02 wink

Go 5/10/15 and on the 15 you can do a 5% traction on the front OR rear axle and that lets the aliens get a bit more on the straight to keep up AND slows em a touch in the corners to compensate...honestly, the better drivers are beating you coming out of the turns, that's the most common scenario. devil

In cobras case he was beating me into AND out of the corners!! Still was an epic race and i took some note of KC's cornering lines........In fairness the handicapping has been the only thing keeping me competitive in the last few playboy races(mostly podiums) and although i posted fastest lap in both the last 2 meets, better drivers overall placed in front of me, KC and supernova being cases in point, so it is possible to beat noobs!!!

As an alien you just have to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the car, make the most out of your pit strategy and take risks once you have a bit of open track ahead of you. Then you also need some luck not to pick up any damage in traffic cause when you already have a speed disadvantage it's downright demoralizing to even see a fellow alien run away from you down a straight like your standing still.
