when it comes to handicaps there are so many variables and there is no way to make it enjoyable for everyone.

there will always be loosers and winners and a lot of it depends on your own driving skills and how much time you put into it.

a given entry speed into a corner has a drastic effect on the momentum coming out of the corner and this will surely get you closer to your opponent in front of you and on into the next corner to get ready for a take over.

racing is all about strategy and consistency - it is rarely the car with the fastest lap that will win the race but the racer who is the most consistent.

and when i comes to wining or not  - we all want the win whether we admit it or not.

the will to win is the the very existence of racing - without it there would be no race !!

All I want is some close racing and thats it!

although since I started racing on the PC my need to "win" on Forza has dwindled and has now been replaced with just wanting a good time / race.

I leave the need to win to the PC side of things now smiley

Parcells advise:

Most of us say we don’t care about winning, rather having a close race means more to us which is exactly what handicaps will do (yes, if done right). I’m sure that is true for most of us but not all. That said if someone wants to take advantage of sleazing into a lower handicap so they can walk away with the win then your best bet is to ignore this person and let them run by themselves. Why would a mature person care if an adolescent who needs to win cheats or scams their way into a victory or podium?

Even though I still want to win every race I know that is not realistic and my racing has become much more fun since I stopped caring so much about winning. Parcells also applies this theory to the overly aggressive drivers who think 2 & 3 wide is acceptable/doable in every corner…I do not wish to race against you so I will let you by without putting up a fight...your loss.

I've been tied up with family the last few weekends and work has gone kinda crazy since the holidays.   Looking to jump back in this Sunday, been missing my Forza fix.  I've not been on since before the 1st.  What times should I be shooting for this week?

I thought this was a MX5 Miata ... I guess the playboy version is a car onto itself. Don't have that one. Plus I have a family obligation this Sunday so I will have to wait for another event.

Have fun!

We're using the gen 3 miata Benjer. It must be built to the specs posted on this thread's original post.

@Ben - its the standard MX-5 gen 3 that comes with the game and its just built up to spec by using the parts stated on page one.

If you need a tune visit tourni6 storefront as there is one there.

Cheers

Shame about the wheel snappy. Just could not do anything against your defensive driving. Thanks for a great race gents.

I just don't seem to have much luck lately,  started in vetern and managed to follow Tourni through the traffic getting up to 3rd on lap 5 or 6. Then in usual Fitzy fashion I managed to cock it up, I got a run on Snappy out of a corner and thought I was past him forgetting he had a hp advantage on me, I didn't see him on my left and we touched knocking me off onto the sticky grass and then got hit hard from behind. Sorry whoever that was I had nowhere to go. Anyway shit happens and in no way blame Snappy if anything I should have realised he was there.  Typical of this game one minute I was so happy to get to 3rd in veteran the next sitting on the side of the track with 100% damage.

Damn, I wondered what happened to you all of a sudden.

Had a blast battling with stevie, gomba & Ciletti.  Thought my goose was going to be cooked toward the end.

Thanks guys,  that was fun, a much needed diversion today.  It's been almost 2 weeks since I had a chance to fire up FM4.

Early on I found myself in the back trading places with Steviegers before he left me in dust.  I just tried to stay out trouble and keep it on the track before I finally settled in.  I had a some good battles and eventually worked my way up a few spots.  A couple of laps after pitting for new tires I found myself in a good back and forth with Clletti  for a while.  I tried to chasing down Helios but ran out of time there at the end.

This was the second race I've run in club now.  My best time was :28:6xx if I recall correctly.  Most laps in the low :30s high :29s.  Overall I'm pretty happy at keeping in the mix today.

Sorry about the contact Fitzy. I watched the replay and it looks pretty bad from my end. I kind of forced the issue but in the moment it seemed like we would be able to run through the Schumacher curve side by side. I was also hesitant to back off because there was someone right on our tails.  Had a great time trying to hold off Tourni and KC. I was doing everything I could to protect what I thought would be the fastest lines in and out of every corner.  Then, sadly, my wheel disconnected from the Xbox. The good news is Supernova Dave has sent me some recommendations to address that problem so I'm sure it will be better. Thanks Dave. And thanks to all the racers. That was and awesome Race!

As I said in the race, I've got no idea how I held on to that! Full oposite lock with a wheel set to 900 degrees.

A big thanks to all involved for one of the best series I've done here on 2O4F, great CLEAN close racing with all of you.

Hello,

even if I wasn't able to do all races: This was the BEST SERIES for me until now. Close, clean and fair racing with a great car. Thanks TOURNI for making this happen.

PS: Are there final results anywhere to be found?

Lap 1, Turn 3 to 4, probably my own fault, doesn't matter,  ended up in the wall,  90% body damage,  60% engine & tranny damage.  Just wasn't worth carrying on.  Think I'll be passing on any sim damage races for awhile.

Watched the replay fella, you got a it just a little lose, slid door to door with another car then the drag tires griped and shot you in to the wall sad

You should have carried on. There was quite a few incidents and you would have made up a lot of time after a quick pit stop wink

This was my first shot a doing a series and made most of them.  I learn more and more each time out in how to run close and clean.  Pretty sure I can't defend worth a crap, but that will come in time I'm sure  :)  Thanks to all for a fun series and to Tourni for putting it together.   I look forward to more great fun!
