Great Racing, guys!!

I have to apologize for the contact that I had with someone at the Nurburgring GP race. I put them right into the wall at the last chicane. Really sorry about that.sad I went on to win but it felt sort of hollow.

I had a great time at all of the tracks with the HSV.  I would have loved to run it at Monza without the chicane but, oh well. Maybe some other time. Thanks again and see you next week.

It was great to have you Snappy.  Make sure you get a headset before our next one.  Any Bluetooth headset will do the trick.

I will start sending you more cars tomorrow night.  yes

Sorry Wheels but the major CON is not everyone buys the DLC cars and for some of us (me, Mark and Greg for sure) this is strictly a principles issue. I'll buy almost all track DLC but for a game that "claims" to have 1000+ cars (Parcells has less than 200 still) I don't see the need to spend more money on something I don't need regardless of how cheap it is. [end DLC rant]   8

Thanks Parcells for PARCELLS 101!!coolcoolcool

P.S. I would probably wager if I played this game as many times as others...I too would not need to practice!wink

Well that changes things doesn't it? In that case i don't see a problem Wheels, we just have to get the word out and assume everyone can find this free DLC.

I'll check tonight or tomorrow and assuming Parcells can find it others can too. Sounds like all you want is the car as-is with race soft tyres and an oil change. Please confirm but I will not list an oil change and this is one upgrade we generally avoid.

Also if there are specific tracks you want to race on let me know otherwise we'll be racing what arbitrarily gets typed on this keyboard thingy I use with computards.

I love this idea.  I ran the new Vette earlier this week when it was released and its awesome.  It is free.  Just go to the Playstation Store, download it, fire up GT5, install the car via the install button on the first screen, then move the car to your garage via the semi on the GT Life screen.  My suggestions for tracks are the following:

1) Laguna Seca

2) Daytona Road Course

3) Indy Road Course

4) Cape Ring

5) Deep Forest

My two cents, take em or leave em.

Glad you enjoyed yourself Snappy, was great having you and some of the other new guys on board and from Parcells perspective last night’s racing was awesome from start to finish. Had great battles in most races, good stuff…4 of us fighting for second position for 4 straight laps on special stage route 5 was incredible to name one race I had to catch my breath after.

Unfortunately it did appear people were having connection issues which I cannot explain. Jim kept getting booted and it seems Wheels could never connect will have to chalk it up to bad luck and hope it goes better next week. We do get the odd room freeze from time to time but generally speaking the connection issues are few between.

As you saw it’s a pretty simple approach we take each week, racing whatever the hell we feel like except for the spec races if we have any scheduled. I encourage you to read the original OP of this thread for everything you need to know which is not much more than knowing what the spec car is each week. The below link takes you to that spreadsheet.

Of the 6-8 “guidelines” we follow there is only one that Parcells does not budge on and that is each week’s spec car MUST be documented no later than 7:00 EST on the preceding Sunday else we go without a spec car that week (we certainly still race just no spec car). This is for people, like Wheels, who feel the need to practice. And remember ANYONE can build a spec car and designated tracks for any week, you just have to document it before the cut off time and we can certainly build cars weeks in advance too. If you’re uncomfortable updating the google spreadsheet yourself, let me know what you want to run and I can do it for you.

So Wheels, you will know no later than 7:00 EST this Sunday what next week’s spec car is.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiaZK9drHM9AdDFEME1FVjExUU9...

p.s. Re: Spec Cars: PLEASE DO NOT add an oil change to your spec built cars.

Isn't the Corvette completely camouflaged? ( I'm so shallow) I didn't download because of that but ill grab it tonight. I'll drive anything at this point.

Parcells, I'll have to agree. One of the things that bothers me is the inclusion of seemingly useless cars. Now, I know I may upset some folks but the Daihatsus and some of the Suzukis drive me nuts when I think of some of the many cars that are not in GT5 or Forza, for that matter. Okay, no more whining....for now. I like the game but I like it more because of racing with you guys.

Snappy...It is Camoed (New Word?)..Seeings how I run from the front bumper I could care if it had a VW body on it!!laughlaughlaugh...For Whining...Whining is Good...For me it helps to alleviate the BS that Forza  4..Microsoft..Fanatec..Headsets...Downloads we had to put up with the last year.

P.S.S. Zero..Thanks for the Suggestions!...I don't know WTF is going on with my PS3..Everytime I try to fire up GT5 it takes FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREVER!...My Turtle Beach Headset just went out 5 times waiting for the screen to move from the red, white and blue GTF...Then the Silver GT...whiles saying loading and saving data and now stuck on the silver GT..Major Piss-Off!!...Be my luck next Thursday I will still be waiting...Anybody got any insights??..I had the controller hardwired to the machine and without it...Still The Same!..Seems every screen takes FOOOOOOOOOOOOREVER to move to the next! Started happening ever since the last download the other day!

Wheels, I don't put the camoed vette in the "useless" category at all. I'm looking forward to driving it. I'm just admitting that, like a lot of folks, I am into the aesthetics too. I can't wait to see what the C7 is going to look like. I'm actually glad you came up with this idea as I'm sure it will be fun to drive.

Spreadsheet updated with next week's spec car. Wheels first, and possibly last 88, spec car submission. Parcells really let him stretch the "guidelines" by allowing an oil change this week...

I wasn't planning on allowing the oil change because I really thought you could not apply an oil change to a brand new car (thought this was the primary reason we disallowed oil changes and the fact it gives you an unecessary HP boost) but I just bought the car, did not drive it but the oil change took and I couldn't back out so we have an oil change this week.

NOTE: The car is a FREE DLC Corvette C7 prototype with race soft tyre's and an oil change, that's it.

@Wheels - I've given you some latitude this week (no problem) but the consequences is the following ramblings that question your state of mind. You confuse me Sir.; A common theme of your GT5 feedback is how most cars try to kill you because of slippiness, inablity to stop and general mayhem of your proven race skills. So what do you do for your first spec car?...you say hey guys lets run this high HP prototype Corvette. Are you insane man? At the best of times this car has the potential to kill you but you decide to run it in a game that has caused you handling issues. I was expecting a slower car like maybe a Focus or Mini, surely there are other cars that you can manage better than this beast but to each there own, you're a grown man and will have to live by your questionable decisions.

Anyway, hope you can join in this week, you do know that you can join my lobby without me there...may wish to try before Thursday regarding your connection issues which I have no idea why you're having problems other than last week connection issues were fairly common for some of us.

Parcells...Truly My Sincere Thanks for the Waivers..Even though I have had this game since January I still consider myself a Newbie because of several issues with headsets and Fanatec Wheels and the time between these issues I seem to forget what I learned. I find it funny that you, after all your experience,  have had a ephiphany in finding out that you can have a oil change on a new vehicle..Strange because you never knew it but still it was the primary reason for not using it....funny..The only issues I ever had is the Skid Recovery. I still don't understand it because there is no such thing that I know of in Forza 4. The hilarity of it makes me ask the question again..If using it is a detriment to the times running laps why would anyone care if some use it. If I was as good as those that don't I would beg guys to use it because I knew I would just crush their times. When I run Forza 4 I run no assists. Skid Control is a Non- Issue.  Guys like me who are incompetent when it comes to the finer details of tuning and how to tune don't even think of such thing (Handling Faster Cars).  I would honestly run faster cars. Also I realized a long time ago that for me to be competetive I have to run the tracks and cars to see what I can do and what they (Cars) can do..Probably like a Professional. That is why I like a racing series..I can practice and practice beating my ghost and figuring out what gear to be in and what I can get away with. I believe at this time my PS3 system is corrupted or something else. I am going through the motions now with PS3 Support to see what it is..From what I see that is the source of my problems the other night and why trying to play the GT5 is taking so long. So if you wish to change the vehicle for this week..Feel Free..At this point I am running pessimistic that the console will be running. Last thing..Parcells..If you are strong to your convictions..Don't Waiver..I Sincerely Appreciate It but if it is going to cause a inner conflict..Stick to your guns..Even though some of the guildlines were made on erroneous assumptions. I would hope this addresses your confusion.coollaughlaughcool

Totally irrelevant update mostly to prove Parcells hasn't lost all his marbles yet: :)  Parcells likes thing that make sense and when you wrote this weeks ago Wheels I also thought it was strange and a tad disappointed in myself for making up an otherwise silly guideline...or so I thought at the time.

Seems that some brand new cars can have an immediate oil change but others cannot. Yes I was able to do an oil change on the brand new Vette but I was unable to apply an oil change to the brand new Lancer I bought last night (at least not after I added the race modification) so it appears hit and miss.

Since we cannot guarantee you can apply an oil change on ALL brand new cars is exactly why we adopted the guideline of no oil changes on any spec cars because it may require you to drive the car (AKA practice - also frowned upon) prior to Thursday just so you can apply the oil change.

Can finally get a good nights rest again 6

Yeah sounds like your system is quite ill Wheels, that bites. LOL, inner conflict, nobody cares and if they do they'll be really pissed when I announce a second spec car for this week. Second car in case you don't make it because I trust your pessimistic outlook.

Thanks Wheels. let us know when you're back in business, we'll get that Vette in action even this week if by some chance it gets resolved before we know it will.

Ultimately we may go without a spec car this week if the boys aren't on board (no big deal) but I just added the crowd favorite (maybe mostly a Parcells favorite - and Gizzie!) Mini Cooper S 07 which we haven't raced in a very long time (hope the build is reasonable?). Spreadsheet is updated. If everyone is on board (you either build the car or not) I "may" decide to change the tyre compound come Thursday so be forewarned....when we ran this in March of 2010 we used race soft but I arbitrarily changed it to race medium without testing and may go lower or back to race soft we'll see how it feels and go from there. If anyone wants to suggest a tyre compound (from actual practice/testing, not looking forward to comfort hard because of a joke if you know what I mean) name it and we'll go with that.

I'm obviously past Parcells self imposed deadline for weekly spec cars (we dont race peoples spec cars (Wheels) when they cant make it that week - that be rude) but there is nothing you can tune on this car (suppose brake balance is always an option is it?) so less reason for practice anyway, which we strongly discourage from the get go.

If anyone needs assistance with the spec car let us know, we'll get you fixed up.

You might want to change that to "Parcells hasn't raced in a very long time."  A lot of us rallied the piss out it (Recommended Garage) for several races a few weeks back when you decided you were too good to hang out with us "lowlifes".  42

Turns out Parcells has decided to change the Mini's tyre compound. Sport soft is plenty for this car so that's what we'll be using...if we use it at all?

You're right about you guys being lowlifes but that doesn't make Parcells too good to hang out with you.

LOL, the MIni is probably our most raced car, can you say Mini at Tsukuba? But it's always the recommended stock build, this spec car has just about every HP part you can buy and you're still guaranteed close racing. Giddy up!

Yeah, I probably won't get on until 6:30pm PST at the earliest.  I have a meeting at work that starts at 4:30pm PST and could last a while.
