R1 Class

Who drives these?  Specifically the LMP's.  I've  been driving and collecting them lately.  I have been driving them with no assists or braking line.  They are actually quite fun to drive.  Anyway, if anyone has anything planned I'd be interested in checking it out.  And if anyone out there has some R1's they're looking to get rid of I am definitely interested.

I am looking for a Audi R15 TDI ++, an Aston Martin AMR ONE, and that lovely TOYOTA Prototype.  Don't want any freebies so ojust let me know what the price is or I can trade for something.  Thanks guys.

Holy shite!!  Thanks guys.  I won't be home much today but I'll get some stuff out to you.  Let me know if there is something specific your looking for.  I have tons of decals so I'll send some over.

Do you guys race these cars ever?  They really aren't that bad to drive.  I've had to learn some really fine throttle control in order to drive them and braking zones without the use of the braking line can be challenging but they are great fun.  I put one of these cars through the "Kink" at Road America at about 165 miles per hour.  Insane!

I have always enjoyed the R1's.  Fell in love with them over at my GTPlanet days.  heart  Cars I could never afford at speeds I could never ever attain in RL.  You just got a taste of them last month in the ALMS race you ran.  cheeky

Yeah guys.  Why not?  I suspect most fellas shy away from these cars..... but why not a multiclass?  Tourni, I'm guessing you may have something in the works already so I'll just wait like a patient bear.  LOL (somebody put that photo in here)   Besides, it'll give me time to practice.  I'm doing some liveries and I'll be posting them in the paint section.  Really digging these cars!

Might have some thing lined up soon :)  Just working on it... Got to tune them all and check that they are pretty well matched :)

R1's are notoriously tempermental to paint Snappy...toss a grid on them before you start anything, it'll open your eyes...

Yeah. Gotcha. The grid is a good idea. I'll do that. I've already noticed that there are some weird areas and hidden dimensions. Lol

My favorites in the R1 class are the Acura models.  They have such amazing cornering speed and easy to drive in cockpit view.  Also like the Audi TDI models with open cockpits.  Probably easiest without traction control with that diesel engine and low revs, smooth power at all rpms.  The most important part of the tune is the differential settings.  Set the acceleration really low, start at 5 and work from there.  Decel can be pretty high around 75 or so.

The Mazda's pretty easy to drive with the lower torque, but it's a killer to equalize others to, so probably out.

The multiclass endurance event is building nicely :)

We have  five of each, R3, R2, R1  All being matched within a second (this are impossible to match closer with builds and will be open tune)

So the layout will be similar - but this time the drivers will swap cars of their team mates so R1 driver goes to r3, r3 to r2, r2 to r1.....

Aiming for June

More details to be done soon :)

No no, its more about the car choices.  I've got an image of the field in my mind and i'm trying to create it. :D

out of the 15 cars, there is one or two that are giving me hassle under throttle but nothing that cant be sorted :D

I love the Audi R1 open cokpit cars, and have a couple of those, and I have the closed cockpit Audi as well.. I love how mellow they are, but they move like no one's business. I usually use TCS in these cars, but that's really it. Too much torque for me to try to control with my controller. I've been working through some of the LMP1 events lately, and have been having a lot of fun. :)

Try this.  Cockpit view, no map, no speedometer, no rewind.  TCS is good.  But only the who's ahead and behind indicator.  That's what your pit crew would be telling you.  And then put it on full sim damage and do not restart under any situation.  Run a series in season play and see how you fare.  The downside is that you won't be increasing your game percentage.  But you will have a great time finishing other than first all the time.  I have found my most enjoyable runs were the ones that I didn't sometimes win.  Taking unexpected damage on laps 2-3 and then having to control the car for another 10-12 laps was a challenge.  And you become much more aware.

I don't like cockpit view, as the effect of seeing a steering wheel over the top of my steering wheel gives me the sensation of driving from the back seat...not aided by the fact my seat is some five feet from my tv. Pity Forza doesn't allow you to push that cockpit view forward of the on screen wheel.

Did some laps today with Snappy in one of those R1's normally I avoid them like the plague and if I do drive them, on go the assists...drove it without and managed to keep things under control most of the time...might be convinced to give it a go, gonna get my arse handed to me on a plate for a while but that is nothing newsmiley

It would present a problem for you rich fellas who can afford those expensive wheel setups.  But it's the best way for us po folk to pretend that we are in the car.  Although my shoulders get tired holding my arms out at a 90 degree angle as I pretend they are resting on the door.  laugh

Heh, I would be a lot better of if I didn't spend what little disposable income we have on this bleedln game LOL  Don't drink, don't smoke, no kids and hardly ever go out. I do though have a hobby that has given me mates from all over the world and some of the best fun from my Xbox I have ever had.smiley
