PS4 - Looking for something different out of year 2

Let me preface by saying that I know this sounds a bit like a "LFG" post, but it's really not that... I'm more wondering if the gaming experience I once had here at 2old2play on XBox can be replicated on PS4.

Hi folks. I haven't been a regular around here in a long time (my gaming waned when real life got in the way a bit) but I've been playing Destiny on the PS4 as my one console outlet for the past year. I poured a ton of time into it for year one but I never did Raids because I mostly played solo... I get the impression I missed out a little bit and so for year two I think I'm going to change things up.

  Here's the thing. Back in the day, I had the ideal situation, when I was a member of the XBox clan 2old2pwn on the old site, playing COD... I'd always have a few folks to jump in and out of games with, as there were always 6 or 8 of them online at any given time, and on the flipside, there was no pressure... if I didn't show up for a few days, no big deal; no scheduled game time, etc. I am pretty good at this game but I'm not great and I'm not a "serious gamer"... I'm playing to have a few laughs, not as a second job. Every Destiny group I've tried to play with has issues for me... either they have a schedule that I can't adhere to, or I feel like I'm not at the same level as the rest of the group, ie. not as serious or skilled, and so on. 

I guess what I'm asking is if I can even replicate the 2old2pwn experience in the current Destiny world... are there groups where there are pools of non-serious gamers like me? Does the way that Destiny is set up even allow for me to chill with people the way that we did in the Black Ops days? Can that experience be replicated here, or anywhere?
