Polygon downgrades their review to 4/10

Because of all the issues they had the guts to change their review. I think its a generous score. 4/10

I have not been having any issues on my 360 since it crashed once last week and corrupted my save data. Ever since they did the patch on the 360 it has been pretty stable. So it's kinda BS for them to drop the review. Patch for PC comes out tomorrow.

I don't think it's BS they dropped it.  The game wasn't/isn't ready.  It was broken on every platform at launch, maybe fixed for ps3/xbox 360 now.  The last patch they released for PC helped but not enough.  Hopefully the next patch clears everything up.  Some days I can play 5-6 rounds w/out any problems, then I crash over and over.  Makes no sense to me.  The game is fun, the game is badass, but the crashes are frustrating and kill the score.  My son wants the game for xbox one but I told him not to buy it.  If it worked great they would've got full price.  Now I won't buy it until it is on sale AFTER all the issues are fixed.

Fair score for xbox1.  Problems I had last night:

Game wouldnt load- started after hard restart.

Battlelog doesnt work. Friends page is blank.

Server browser tells me one friend is online. I click to join (20 free slots) and it tells me server is full.

I search for a game all maps all game types. There are 5 servers to choose from.

I choose a game and click join - nothing happens.

I try all five until eventually I get in a game.

When I try to look at battlelog ingame I get a fuzzed out static page.

The game just isnt ready.

Most of those are also PS4 issues. Also we get to enjoy the vision "blur" that happens during the game, audio drop outs, rubberbanding, stuttering. The best is the constant crashes that occur. I can play two maybe three games and then bang crash after crash.

Like I said 4/10 is being generous. I discourage as many people I can from wasting their money on this game.

Last match I played I had so many issues I just shut it off. There is supposed to be an update shortly. I hope it fixes a lot of the issues as this thing is driving me nuts. Oh well, at least I have Forza.

I played on 360 over the weekend. I think I'll go back there for a few weeks. China Rising out today so expect even more issues.

Can't even get into the CR maps right now. They already have a message scrolling saying they are working on a fix

I was this close to buying an Xbone but decided to wait. I wanted to play BF on it, but because of all the issues decided to wait. Plus I beleive that BF4 premium will be half priced by Spring.

I'm downloading the patch for today, but I will have to wait since I don't have premium.

I don't get how you can have BF3 be perfect, and use mainly the same menu system and engine, and have it all be crap - with more powerful machines.

BF3 did have issues when it came out as well but, nothing like this. I haven't played BF4 on PC in over a month because it was unplayable the last time I tried. I at least thought that version would have been bang on with few issues. I went with the XB1 copy as well because it came with the system and while it has problems, they seem to be mostly different ones than I was having on PC, except for the dropping of matches.

I hope EA has realized that they have lost a pre order customer. While Titanfall looks interesting, I will wait a few days to hear and see how the game plays.

true, but you'd think they could port over the patched working version of BF3's menu system.  Personally, I didn't play a lot of BF3 and only got BF4 to have an FPS to play until March.  I'll get Titanfall at launch because it seems a lot more polished and I really want to play it ;)

To be fair, if Battlefield 3 was polished (after intial troubles) and if they botched their next release so badly, how can Titanfall look polished?  After 343 screwing the pooch on Halo, it seems like Call Of Duty is the last man standing.

Titanfall has nothing to do with BF4.  DICE is not Respawn.  EA is a publisher

The question stands: how in the hell does it look more polished than any other game that we see in very limited and controlled bursts?  Battlefield looked polished, didn't it?

I've played every Battlefield game.  While they all had some problems at launch, all the previous launch problems don't even add up to all the problems BF4 is having.  In all my years of gaming I've never been so frustrated with a released game.  Somehow I've managed to log over 100+ hours in the game already because when it does work, it's fucking great and playing with my fellow 2o2p'ers if sun, but I've had my fair share of rage quits.  I'm never pre-ordering a BF game again though.  From what I've read today's patch hasn't helped, I'll have to try it out later and see how it goes.

Also, how about all those ribbons and medals you earn after a game and those points aren't added to your XP score?  Can't believe that isn't fixed yet.

I just cried.

Probably a silly question, but I don't suppose anyone managed to play China Rising last night?

I played China Rising last night.  I did not have any issues.  I played 7 games and never froze or got kicked from a server.  A little lag here or there but nothing major.

i hope not for the PC. It's a bigger train wreck than BF4.

This is the new mini-UAV for support.  They are essentially unlimited if you are sitting on top of an ammo crate.  On a side note; the smoke grenades are also unlimited if sitting on an ammo crate.  Try it out on Locker next round. ;)

I don't know if this is a DICE or EA-LA aka Danger Close balance oversight since EA-LA made the DLC and the mini-UAV is one of their gadgets from MOH:Warfighter.  These type of balancing issues are more typical for BF in the first few months rather than the current plethora of bugs, glitches and crashes. T3muJin is correct, this is hands down the biggest clusterf@ck of a BF game DICE has every released.  Sadly, each patch and new piece of content added makes things worse NOT better.  We've still got awhile before this is stable and balanced.

I would like to report I played China Rising yesterday and did not encounter a single crash.  I am not ready to declare the battlefield is ready for the troops just yet though.  Need to play the original content and see if I crash there or it could just be one of those "works today but not tomorrow" type of deals.

I did go back and look at all my crash reports which are actually logged, then added that number to an estimated crashes that don't give me reports, and I'm crashing about once every 1.2 hours of playing.  That is fucked up.

UPDATE:  Played 1/2 round of Operation Locker, 1 full round of Flood Zone, then crashed to desktop on map change without a crash report.

Yeah, that is what happens to me most frequently, I crash between map change.

I've pretty much given up on this game for now. I don't even think Ghosts is that great. I like the Extinction mode whereas the MP does nothing for me. I miss having something to work towards to unlock attachments for the guns rather than getting tokens.

I have no idea, I didn't look at BF at all.  I don't really play the game much.  I just bought it because it was a FPS that wasn't CoD.  I do know that the beta was AWFUL.

This Call Of Duty is actually an interesting beast.  Lots of long time players are a little butthurt because they've mixed up something fundamental in the game's formula a little bit.

I've been playing the new DLC on XB1 without any issues.  Even my campaign progress has stopped disappearing.  Did I hear something about a patch for XB1?  I don't recall seeing a download when I started the game.
