Watched it - all details about creating the campaign thru voice acting and motion capture. Thanks for posting it!

It's not bad but personally I'd have rather seen a 20 second video that said "The reason you can't drop a flag once you pick it up is....". 106

NeoGAF member talked to 343i.

Talked to Kevin Franklin after the panel and talked CTF.
1. No, no dropping the flag in multiplayer. "It creates having the flag be an important aspect of the game. Players will still have an individual rank in addition to team score and you get more points based off helping the flag carrier by driving him or assisting in kills. We haven't talked customs yet for CTF so we can't comment but in war games you won't be able to drop the flag. In addition, the waypoint over your head makes you yourself an objective and we get that so maybe the flagnum will get a boost in power to help counteract you being a target."
2. For Plywood, "we have the ability to take screenshots of maps to include in the menu UI but have no comment as of now for forge."

I can't quote him directly as I was unsure, but it seemed as if he said something about aggregating forge maps in their own playlist instead of including them in the standard war games hoppers.

Guys, they're listening, but they also have their own vision for how they want it to play out but it's a beautiful game. I promise.

Obviously 343 is trying to stress team play. Once again never go into MM by yourself because you may run past a flag and grab it unintentionally while your jackass random crouches in a corner. I can't drop the flag and use something other than a BB shooting pistol. So, I guess I'll have to find 3-7 ppl to run as a regular team and exclude others since our load outs for Objective don't work well together. Or I can farm for kills in Objective and not give two shits about capping the flag. Rant over. I'm still buying H4......

I don't know the point rewards yet, but you can expect it will heavily favour anyone who picks up a flag whether they score it or not. I think I read you get extra points for kills as a carrier. I think shooter support will get extra points but I'd bet (guessing) it's tied to flag proximity somehow.

I wouldn't be at all surprised people actually trying to get the Flag first. (Again totally guessing).

I don't think it will stress team play anymore than ctf currently does.

The Halo Council did a nice job of cutting all of the in games scenes from the PAX Campaign trailer.

The Halo 4 "A Hero Awakens" ViDoc was just released, we took time to cut out the gameplay for all the fans out there that enjoy it.

Good vid (except for the player).  When he was able to use the dmr correctly, it looked accurate and deadly with a quick kill time.  Bloom was nearly non-existant.  He never really used the lunge perk (whatever it's called) aside from a couple times.  I still wanted to slap whoever was playing.  WTF are you running out in the open alone?!

You wouldn't slap David Ellis would you?laugh

Apparently he owned in the previous game. If I were you, I'd take notice of how often he used the Plasma Pistol. Not because he was horribly unsuccessful but because he is telegraphing the importance of it to him, in Halo 4.

I love the sounds of the ghost and banshee. They sound StarWars like. Overall I'm really impressed this is the first video of gameplay that looks really good to me. Dixon,I think we have only seen 2 BTB style maps and 2 smaller maps. I can't see them going with that flag carrier model I'm sure its and easy change and would expect that you will be able to drop the flag when H4 releases.

I agree on the Ghost and banshee but there's lots of evidence the sound in this build is still not complete. I.E. No audio from the Warthog.

I'll try to dig it up but I saw a reference to map size that put Haven and Adrift as the smallest, Exile in mid-size, Longbow slightly larger and potential for 3 more bigger maps. David Ellis confirmed the relative accuracy of the list.

I believe your expectations for War Games CTF and the auto-pickup/no-drop being changed are going to be disappointed. 343i seems to have a stern attitude about it and the look on Kevin Grace's face said to me, do not expect a change. They would not comment on Customs either which I will speculate about. Auto-pickup/no-drop is the only option in Customs and they do not want to talk about it or they do not want to talk about it being a modifiable game setting because of the deluge of requests to change it to traditional CTF for War Games playlists.

Are you sure the sound isn't done? Did you not see the "Hybrid" sticker on the back of the Hog? 140  I agree with the comments from others on the Banshee / Ghost sounds... very, very nice.

WTF was that ball of light that was thrown at them while on a Mongoose, disabled it and then exploded? That was pretty sweet!

I think it was the EMP grenade. I am a little confused about that one. I read in one place (unconfirmed), it just drained shields and didn't stop vehicles. Then I see in that video the vehicle apparently disabled by it.

The probem is that now you're carrying a pistol when you have the flag and they aren't going to change that. Allowing someone to drop the flag would give them access to that and the other two weapons they have. Basically the flag carrier then would have access to 3 weapons with full clips and that could be overpowered. Not to mention the flag itself is deadly up close.

The animation to switch back and forth if someone was juggling would be ugly to say the least as well since they'd have to keep switching weapons.

Gameplay wise I have no issue with how they have designed CTF. They just seemed to be making an effort at explaining reasoning behind different aspects of MP this release so I wish they would mention a reason your spartan can physically not drop the flag. It seems kind of lame that it's glued to your hand once you pick up.

I'm fine with gluing the flag to the carrier.  I think it makes for some interesting strategic decisions, and I look forward to trying that out before reserving judgment on it.  It'll certainly take some getting used to, that's for sure.

The growing of the maps seems to be a direct by-product of Sprint, and in Halo 4, it's standardization.  I can become fine with larger maps, but not with an abundance (or any) of vehicles.

To reiterate: cautious optimism.

I'm quoting myself not only because I'm awesome, but also because I think Exile will be in smaller playlists too.

It definitely seemed small for an 8v8 match.  I see it also being used on 4v4, similar to Valhalla and Standoff.

With sprint, Longbow also didn't seem as large as it appeared.  I'm wondering how large the other maps listed below Longbow will be.

Yeah, you've gotta think that they can measure the maps and give us some better comparisons.

Noticed the pp drains dramatically faster than previous halo titles.

All I can say for absolutely sure is that these gameplay vids make me wish the game came out tomorrow.  I am honestly not bothered by 343 changing thngs up a bit.  You can definitely see from the videos that this is definitely still Halo, and I think a lot of what they are doing with the game is going to take a back seat to the tried and tested Halo gameplay that we all know and love.  Of course, if the game ends up sucking, I'll totally blame 343.

Sidewinder/Avalanche?  That's the only one that I could think would cause the least amount of drama.

My guess would be Valhalla, Relic, or Burial Mounds. Those are the 3 maps I miss the most :(

Not that there aren't great maps that we have all enjoyed over the years, but I want ALL NEW maps. Remakes, to me, feel like an easy out for developers.

Using previous maps as inspiration is certainly welcome. Afterall, how many different ways can you make a map after 10+ years?

I'm digging into this today. I totally remember him saying the release maps were all new and future maps would have very few remakes.

I'm fine with a remake or two, or a map inspired by a previous one, but I agree.  I'd like for the bulk of the maps shipped with the game to be new iconic maps.

Official: One Remake.

Oh yes. In fact, our only remake map – still secret – is most definitely outdoors.
