My conversation with Microsoft support

I have a Day One Xbox One that has been not reading discs. But not as extream as you would see on YouTube videos with alll the grinding and constant errors. My problem seems to be with Forza 5. I can put in COD or Battlefield and never have a issue. My wife puts in a movie every other day and NEVER not work. BUT....about an average of once a week, I will try to play Forza and all I get on the screen is the picture of the Mcleran going around the corner...and its stuck there. My only fix was to uninstall and reinstall the game. But in about a week it would do it again

SOOOOOO...I called MS up and they told me that they have been having issues with Forza and advised me to do the following.

=Uninstall game and remove it from the Xbox

=Do a Hard Reset (hold down the power button to turn it off, Unplug power cord for a few minutes

=(this is what I found interesting) Disconnect from the internet. The tech explained that this will insure of no bad files

=Plug Xbox back up, put in a game and install it. Let it install COMPLETELY before messing with it

=Connect it back to the interenet and install any updates the game needs.

Im doing this as I type this and I will update to let yall know if it worked...The tech did say that I had two options of returns. One was the standard send mine in to repair and they will send it back to me. OR give them a credit card to hold a deposit on and they will overnight me a new Xbox One and when they get my old Xbox they will release the hold on the card...I have to say I like the overnight option....Anyway maybe this will save someone an hour on the phone with Microsoft

Yea mine was having trouble reading disc that were in the drive.  If I changed disc while the unit was on it would just say "insert disc" and never attempt to read it.  I bought mine at Best Buy so they exchanged it for a brand new one off the shelf.

I hope you get yours working but if not I did discover a few things relating to Forza when installing on a new x1.  Of course you have to reinstall Forza and all the DLC which is a given.  I did this and all my VIP bonus cars were still showing as DLC that needed to be purchased.  These are not located in the store btw so there is no where for you to download them.  You have to back out to the x1 home screen, highlight Forza 5 and press the menu button.  Then go to install and you will see the VIP and Bonus cars are available to install from the disc.  After doing this all my cars were there again.

Overall moving to the replacement console was pretty easy, install game, start game and let it cloud sync, play.

Yea I was kind of freaked out since I know T10 will not do anything either about getting cars back.  Just happened to be messing around with it one day and found that menu.
