My name is Jason, I'm 38 from Orlando, FL. GT: TrappedOn
I work in creative media for a pretty large entertainment Company. Married, 2 kids (3yr & 2mos) and I'm a late night gamer.
Admittedly even though I'm from Detroit, and members of my family & friends build cars for a living, I know squat about cars, & up until I purchased Forza in June, I really didn't like racing games. I've owned several over the last 30 years, from Outrun on the NES, San Francisco RUSH2049 on Dreamcast, and Burnout on the 360, they were always fun at first, but got repetitive rather quickly. However something clicked with Forza4, and the disc hasn't left my drive in months (until Horizon) I enjoy the fact that the game has so many changing variables, from models to tuning setups.
I've mostly played solo, because my ventures into the lobbies were met with general douchbaggery. I admit that I'm not the highest level, nor the cleanest racer, but I try not to be a douchebag.
I'm usually not on too late, especially during the week, but feel free to send me a friend request. I've found that I'm quite slow compared to other folks on the board and when I can get my head out of Horizon, would like to start a beginner's / amateur / just-plain-slow-folks' night. I think it's important to test your skills against those better than you, and I've already become faster due to everyone's willingness to help (really is a great part of this community), but I think it would also be fun to make a sport of it against fellow noobs until you can catch up with the fast guys.

Yup, I'm playing both. This week mostly Horizon because it's still new, but I don't plan on dropping F4 any time soon. They're both completely different games with a completely different feel. While Horizon tries to play up the adrenaline, I find it almost relaxing contrasted with the stress and strategy of on track racing.

I think that is a highly personal opinion/like. For me I enjoy B class the most I guess. Why? Cuz it's not so fast and out of control where the occasional mishaps can really knock someone out of the race. Yet fast enough where there are quite a few participants as opposed to lower/slower classes. Although I do find C class and A class quite fun also. It may have to do with slowed reaction times but S class is quite stressful for me, but can be insanely fun if I want to get all worked up!
Just for the sake of curirousity, what is the favorite class to race in and how did you come to like one class over another.
In my casual or "pick-up" rooms, i tend to set the room up for multi-class d-a, c-s etc. That way folks can run whatever they want.
Since you'd mentioned wanting to improve your skills, I'd suggest perhaps starting out with the pro-am series on Thurday evenings.Everyone runs a "spec" built car & the fastest racers are handicapped in order to keep the field as even as possible. It Also gives the slower folks a chance to actually keep up with the fast guys & maybe even learn a trick or 2.

No, ther is currently no euro pro-am series. But if you wanted to try to get one going, I'd be happy to put you in touch with Insanerc to see how he sets his rooms up.
Another option for you may be the Wednesday night Euro track day. The room stays on one track starting with F class going up in class each rac to R1. It's a really good opportunity to learn tracks.
As cotter says we run from F to R1 and the same track all night. Its a good chance to run what you want with out the pressure of winning all the time as there are no points ect.

Though we could do with a Proam type evening in euroland.

Looks like I may be taking the reins again for ProAm. I had been thinking about adding a race on the weekend to try and pull some of the Euro racers in? I don't want to step on any of your ideas but I have a blast running with you guys. If you want some help or want to combine forces ??? I only suggest weekends for purely selfish reasons as that is the only time I can be on to run with our Euro brothers : )
