I think that was the quietest rant I've ever heard.

I am expecting 343i to do something about the quitters such as finding a way for the game to end early without penalties.

I am doubting game drop-in is going to be embraced but I am totally guessing.

Didn't want to disturb my old lady.

One way they can prevent quitters is matching teams vs. teams and like skilled teams/players against similarly skilled teams/players.  No one likes to be spawn killed by a full party of 8 while your team of 8 is composed of entirely random people.

+1

I dislike drop-in, I think matching can be improved and deterrents can be increased.

Quitting has always been and issue. The "quit bans" and "jackpots" are certainly not enough of a deterrent.

People quit for all types of reasons - don't like the map, don't like the gametype, didn't get the rockets/sniper/sword/shotty, team got 2 kills behind, etc.

It's a frustrating experience and one that keeps me from playing more with randoms.

I really would like to see "drop-in", but I'm not sure it will happen.

I would not like to see drop in.  If you go in with a group of folks, what's the point?  Drop-in makes less sense when you also factor in skill-based matchmaking.

I would like to see drop-in becuase it's frustrating to play on OR against teams with quitters. Sure it won't effect my experience as much if I'm in a full party, but it's still annoying when games are one-sided or you have that one person that won't quit and we have to play hide-and-seek for 10-15 minutes.

How hard would it be to find a suitable replacement player when you have thousands of people in a playlist?

Meh.  I prefer it how it is, but I wouldn't hate drop in if it were implemented.  What about implementing drop in for social/unranked games, and in ranked games, you don't?

Why not make it so when all but one or two players from the other team (or your team) quit, either the match time (for objective) or slayer limit drops so it ends sooner?  If there's 8 minutes left in a ctf game and all but one opponent remains, have the timer drop from 8 minutes to say 3 minutes?

Quit and lose one day of online Halo.  No that wouldn't work I'd have to have two accounts.  Wait....Would be nice if something would work but what really can they do?  I got the ban hammer once for using multiple controllers and damn proud of it!

I've gotten to the point now where If im NOT playing with friends then I can only stand MM for about an hour because of the timmys and quitters. I really dont think there is a "best" solution to the problem of quitters. I'd rather they leave the issue alone then to change it to something I really hate. I guess if they added an option to concede defeat then that wouldnt be to bad.

The system Gears uses handles quitters pretty well. In a ranked match if you quit you get an XP penalty, and whatever deaths you had get added to your K/D but not the kills. Perhaps something like that, and increasing the penalty and number of deaths with each time you quit. I would imagine deranking and gaining 20 deaths would deter some folks from quitting.

Maybe.  But some people only play to be a PITA and don't care about rank like we do.

While I didn't like the idea of drop in at first, the more I think about it the more it seems like a good idea, if implemented well. Teams should always start the match even. If someone quits the game finds a replacement. Also it would be nice if friends could join mid match if there is space on the team. It would be simple to add game privacy settings to the party menu, and you could set your preference to open or invite only.

Rage quitters should be punished with an XP penalty taht is scaled to when they quit, i.e: the earlier in the match you quit, the more severe your penalty is. Adding an element that increases the fee for frequent rage quitters would also be nice. The last player on a team NEVER gets a penalty. At that point you want the game to be over anyway.  This will also help timmy AND his parents. Because when mom tells him dinner is in 5 minutes, he might actualy listen, he could even use the extra time to help set the table. Imagine the good this will do!

Or they could just remove "leave game" from the menu.

Mad at competitive folk for not embracing Armor Lock.  A perfectly viable Armor Ability, shunned by a subset of the noisy minority.

You're not being sarcastic?
Frankly, I find you're position confusing because it doesn't fit the impression I had of you. It's okay if you see AL that way, Just a bit baffling.

Although I am not an AL lover and rarely have any success with it, I never felt it was the problem some people in the Halo community made of it.

AL should be removed from where it can exploit the characteristics of a map. Pushing players through the floor and walls was an unintended result. Add to that problem Bro spawning and what a mess. I could care less if the current iteration of AL comes to Halo 4. I am confident if it does make the cut, it will be quite different.

Deep, to understand Dixon's position, you need to see it from his point of view.

Oh no.  Total sarcasm.  The only thing worse than Armor Lock was jetpack, and that was depending on how I felt about it that day.

At this point, I don't care what bullshit they put in, so long as it can be customizable enough to be removed.  I'd prefer it to not be in in the first place, though.

Don't worry Deep, I also have never really had the the same problems "everyone" experiences with armor lock.  In fact, I think armor lock is actually beneficial in btb, as some vehicles are overpowered plus the jump height is terrible.  Unless you perfectly time your jump, you can't clear a warthog or revenant.  Splatters-a-plenty.

So an overpowered ability should be given to you, triggered with a simple button push? All because someone lacks the skill to stay away from a vehicle or to jump at the right time. Armor lock walks on the edge of balance. In the end, I think AAs were a game mechanic risk Bungie took, that didn't work out as they had really hoped it might have.
