Finally, a Halo DLC I can not pay for and feel great about it.

Not by players from what I've seen.

I picked up from NeoGaf that the accompanying TU for these maps includes new armour mods. One is called Survivor which ejects you from exploding vehicles. The other is Recharge which speeds up the shield recharge rate.  I confirmed the news in Major Nelson's podcast starting at 9:30. http://majornelson.com/cast/2013/07/07/mnr-483-details-about-the-halo-4-halo-4-champions-bundle/

Reading about a third Armour Mod as a timed exclusive with the bundle. Do not believe it until it can be confirmed officially.

This is one source for the third armour mod. It is not official. A Moderator on Waypoint said it is the poster given out at RTX.

This looks like GH057ayame holding the poster.

The Mod is rumoured to be called Resistor and prevents movement slowdown from incoming fire. I guess we'll know the details by Thursday morning after the Bulletin releases.

I'm getting it. All of it. I only play 3 games so it will be a nice add one. The Pit is easily one of my favorite maps and as good as some forge Pit remakes were I be glad to see a true remake.

They do need to figure something out with DLC. I understand people not wanting to get. How many people are buying the old DLC, one or two people a day. You would think the releasing the DLC maps for free would do a lot of good for Halo's population.

I suspect 343i will inform us of a new Spartan Ranks 140, 150, and 160. I figure anyone interested in the new mods and armour can will get them through continued game play.

7 months. That is a long time before the level cap was raised.

I know they are a new studio, but it isn't like this is everyone's first game. Why do there seem to be so many mistakes being made? Offering up weapon skins and new armor mods is something that should have been happening as the first set of DLC went up, or as the game was released.

The game took a great change when they hired ghos7ayame and actually listened.  It's been my experience that frankie fucks up the game and doesn't listen to the community.  Case in point: search his meme's.

wow, well at least they are trying to appease the crowds if not just to make money before H5. Im all for new map choices,  new armor and skins is something they should have always made every cpl months from launch to keep us looking forword and wanting. If not to distract us of all the fixes the game needed lol

If it had been almost any other map I probably wouldn't care, but they got me with The Pit remake which is probably my favorite 4v4 map. Granted, Valhalla used to be my favorite BTB map before H4 happened...

While I'm kind of "meh" on the new skins, armor and stances - it is nice they are finally adding some new content.

I'm a sucker, I'll be making this purchase.

Can anyone clarify for me...?

We have 4 profiles on XBL Family Gold, if I purchase this bundle, will it unlock for all 4 profiles? It seems like that's what would happened with H3 DLC.

If my kids can't use these new maps & fluff (on one family purchase) I may skip this DLC bundle entirely.

Should work. Make sure you use your account on the destination 360 to pay for and download. Have you already migrated all of your licences to this 360? I ask because so many of us use multiple 360 for various reasons. I'm pretty sure you will regret skipping this map pack unless you're giving up on Halo. Just my opinion.

Thanks DEEP, no not giving up, just not interested in multiple purchases of the same stuff. We do have two 360's, and have everything Halo 4 on the one I plan to download to.

Champions Bundle launches today!

I did the download as I was getting ready for work. I took about five minutes to run around both of the new maps.

Pitfall is like a desolate version of The Pit from H3. This seems to be 343/CA's calling card is grimy maps...lol. Overall, it seems like it will be good, we'll see how it is once I actually get to shoot at people. One disappointment is that they took away the ledges along Green Box where you could jump up and avoid nades/ambush noobs. I'm not sure why, as these were such useful spots. The changes to and below Sword are interesting, we'll see how it all plays out.

Vertigo, kind of gave me just that - vertigo. A very vertical map. One of those maps like Last Resort/Zanzibar where being on the ground is probably a bad idea. We'll see how it plays, but it felt cluttered to me just running around alone.

The new weapon skins, armor and stances are pretty cool - you know, if you are into that sort of thing.

Post up your impressions once you've tried them out!

The thing that matters most to me in this pack is Ricochet. How is it?

LK, Ricochet is a lot of fun with a full team of like minded gamers with mics. not so much when others have no mics and aren't working as a team. You can throw it in or run it in for bigger points.

We had some fun games last night in the Champions Bundle list. Ricochet is fun, especially if the game is close.

I am a little disappointed with Pitfall - it just doesn't play or feel like it did in H3. While I'm sure you are thinking "wow, thanks Captain Obvious!", it's just that it simply feels like just another map. Sprint and AAs really kind of wreck how this map used to play. Now it feels like every other H4 map in that it's just people doing whatever they want. Infinity Slayer is especially frustrating on this map because the spawns switch so often. I understand the reasoning behind this, but it made call outs difficult when trying to call out "our training" "our green" when your spawns are constantly switching sides. I also really dislike the lighting on this map as it can be hard to see people on certain parts of the map. One example is looking from Needles toward Snipe tower, the lighting outside the map can make it tough to see players on top of the tower.

On a positive note, Pitfall is good for objective games like Ricochet and CTF.

Vertigo was a mixed bag for me. I only got a couple of games on this map and all were Slayer so I can't say how it plays for objective like KOTH. This is not a map that will lend well to "competitive" play as it's basically impossible to hold down an area. Of course if you do manage to control the tower or the base, the other team can simply run you out of the area by setting off the electric charge. The sightlines are frustrating on this map as it's so cluttered or there so many ways to escape danger by just dropping down or sprinting off. Overall, this map feels like a mid-sized version of Abandon.

While I am not necessarily regretting my decision to download the whole Champions Bundle - I do kind of feel like I may be done with H4 DLC. Well I say that now, but will probably cave if something else is announced.

Yeah, I haven't played a game on Vertigo yet, but walking through it did have some Abandon-type feel to it.

Spawn switching was another horrible idea, another attempt to cater to casuals getting their asses handed to them.

You are confused.  Your parents spawning you and not switching you with a human child was a horrible idea.

At some point you elitist geniuses need to realize that casual gamers are a part of the 2old2play community.

As an average to below average Halo player it has been my experience that the same guys who kicked my ass in all previous halos are still kicking my ass just as much in Halo 4.  If 343 is catering to casuals in Halo 4, I certainly haven't noticed it in my stats or in gameplay.

Please cease your crying and go play another game.

Spawn swapping's been around forever.  I don't think it really helps casual players though since it tips off comp players on where enemies spawn.

ex:  On pitfall if you spawn on the opposite side of your team near shotty and don't see an enemy on snipe 2, rush snipe and pick off an enemy spawner there.  If you spawn near snipe, goto snipe 2 and wait to get the drop on the shotty spawner

It's been around forever, but not to the extent today.  In H3, you could push as far as the base on Valhalla before it swapped.  Now?  You push flat rock and short landing and the spawns will switch.

So, let us attempt to get to the root of the problem here, shall we?  Very finicky/overreactive spawn flipping is a problem when one team gets outclassed greatly.  We saw this and heard more complaints about it in Halo 2 and 3, but that shouldn't have been a problem, because Trueskill demands that players get matched up because of similar skillsets.  Enter the de-rankers and the folks that figured out how to game the systems.  In a way, those were the reasons for the twitchy spawn flips and really almost seems like Bungie's/343's lack of faith in Trueskill.  Hell, that's a "problem" that instant spawns are supposed to fix (which they did), so why not keep predictable spawns, but also keep instant ones in the more social variants?

Eh, I'll continue pooping on you and the likes of all the other terrible players, possibly corpse humping your body afterwords.

In any event, Halo 4 continues to reward bad play.  Make a mistake?  Sprint, jetpack, or thruster pack your way out of harms way.

Can't aim?  No worries, magnetism will help you out.

Can only win 1v1 battles if you get the first 2 shots in?  Camo has you covered.

Can't hold down your own fort?  The game will swap spawns so your feelings don't get hurt.

Ever play a ctf game on Valhalla as your pushing the enemy to the back of their base, only for them to spawn in yours for an easy flag grab?  Terrible execution on 343's part.

Halo 3 was fun for both competetive and casual players, no reason why 343 can't do the same.

And fyi, I don't consider myself elitist, or competetive, rather a casually competetive player.  smiley

Ricochet is okay, not as fun as I thought it would be. It should be expanded to other maps.

Also, I don't recall the spawns ever flipping in H3 on objective gametypes, unless it went blackscreen. It would happen in slayer, but it was fairly difficult to make it happen.
