F1
87 days til the new season and new regulations. I can't wait to see how this year turns out. Turbo 6 cyclinders, aerodynamic changes, and a huge shuffle in the drivers line up. Might actually be interesting to watch this year.
I still have the last three races from last season on my DVR. Just got to the point where there was basically two races every weekend. Vettel against himself for setting fastest time, and everyone else's race for second and third.
One nice thing is my wife has become a big F1 fan now so we are going to go to the race in Austin this year for sure.
Personally I've really never got on with the F1.
Not long until the BTCC starts though :)
Will be interesting for sure, lets hope more teams can challenge for the title which theoretically should be the case. More interesting (to me) will be if Kimi can outperform Alonso...he has his work cut out for him but but be sure he'll never play second fiddle to the spaniard.
Only disappointing thing I've read so far is the double points for the last race. That's just lame and has a feeling of a "Vettel rule" to make sure he doesn't wrap it up too quick next year.
Yea thats my thoughts exactly on the double points race. I know when they interviewed Vettal he wasn't happy about it either. The guy is a good driver no doubt about that but sometimes its just weird how all the other Renault cars on the grid will have trouble except for Vettal's, god I sound like one of the Webber conspiracy fans now.
I kinda would have liked to see Kimi go to Red Bull just to watch the carnage. Kimi and Seb are friends off track but both of them are cut throat on the track. Would have been fun just watching the team try to cope with them. Oh well I'm happy to see him at Ferrari, I just want to see the prancing horse at the front of the pack.
I agree, it does seem like a Vettel rule. No matter how boring the races get, I love F1 for the sheer technical side of it.
I wish we could get BTCC coverage on TV here in the States... it sucks having to wait days or even weeks to find out what happened at the last race, and rarely do I even get to see one. Seems like V8 Supercars will be the same now that we've lost Speed Channel.
Yea I would love to watch more of the racing in Europe, BTCC, Lemans and such. I've tried even finding places online to watch but its either blocked in the US or you have to hope someone streams it (which I have never had luck with). Although NASCAR does require some skill I find no interest in watching it, especially for three hours.
I loved watching Aussie V8 series though on speed and hate to see it go. "You bumped me!!! Eat wall fucker!!!" Loved watching that.
Exactly! The Aussie's are better at NASCAR than NASCAR is, lol! Honestly, I'd love to see NASCAR become more like V8 Supercars with more big, ill-handling cars on road tracks.
I love what Will Buxton has to say about the new F1 rule:
Worst. Rule Change. Ever.
Thanks for the link.
Very good read there. Like he said the reason for a lot of teams to shift focus halfway through the season this year is because of all the rule changes that FIA made for next year. So they are upset now that people weren't completely dedicated the 2013 season, because they were getting ready for next season. Its like telling your kid they can eat candy then getting mad at them for eating candy.
The original article I read said they had wanted the last four races to be worth double points but then decided to just have the last race worth double. Can you imagine how much that could get things moving around in the driver and constructors board.
For those in the states wanting to see some Euro stuff, Fox Sports 1 and 2 shows replays of the past season of BTCC, DTM, FIA GT, and WTCC in the winter. I think they come on Mondays. They aired the DTM Oschersleben race last Monday. Not sure which BTCC race was on. I don't record those.
Parcells has it great in Canada when it comes to sports on TV which makes me happy because its my favorite past time. Cricket is about the only popular world wide sport I dont get to see on a regular basis. Not that I would watch cricket nor do I watch all thats available to me, there's just so much. Between our 2 sports stations they provide 4 different channels and offer some of their own content like curling (top mens curling is fucken awesome!), CFL football if you're into that garbage product, a fair sampling of collegiate sports year round I'm sure I'm forgetting some and the obvious hockey out the ying yang but the World Junior hockey championship (starts next week) is the premiere hockey tournament of the year.
But most of our content is copied from ESPN, NBC Sports, Fox sports, BBC, TNT, you name it, if these stations show top level sports one of our sports stations will pick it up. I'm in heaven!
And when the Olympics come around the corner whichever Canadian station has the rights will easily show 8 or more hours daily coverage and show the actual events LIVE. Poor NBC they just can't seem to figure out what live Olympic coverage is or maybe they just consider Bob Costas live I dont know.
I've been an F1 fan for 30+ years.
Strangely enough I made a new contact this week, who has a client who is a team principal. I can't say anything more, but there is a certain shit, who I can confirm is, on new info, as truly as poisonous as he seems.
The sooner he exits F1 via prison or otherwise the better.
Double points FFS - kiss my arse. What is this, pokemon power cards or some such shit.
Bring back multiple tyre manufacturers and fuel suppliers, but make the technological goals efficiency. Competition between business has always been 90% of the sport. I understand what they are trying to do, but they have missed a trick.
BTW Kimi for the win.
Damn you! lol now I'm sitting here going through all the drivers trying to figure it out, and it's past my bedtime already. Wait unless it's not a driver and in fact someone that might have to appear soon in a German court.
My lips are sealed on this one.
I believe all tin cans have the right to free speech...
It's got to be that little berni muppet :)
Parcells couldn't quite figure out the meaning of the above quote from formula1.com because as I understand it the weather is basically random throughout the World when it hit me..That prick Bernie learned how to control the weather and now he'll use his super powers to make it rain per the F1 testing schedule.
Clearly the best motorsport racing in the World!
That's all a bit bond evil genius isn't it?
Bernie on the way out? So did he walk or did they push? Increased monitoring and control of his day to day decisions? I'd say he's toxic, and they are facing up to it.

If the Germans have anything real on him he'll be gone. The justice system over there will not be bought.
Or they could like, buy some water and put it on a track somewhere..., hoser...maybe England or Seattle, I hear it rains, alot
For those in the states I find all the BTCC,Super V8's,FIA World GT etc. on youtube, and its full races! Hell I even watch Super GT on it,just ignore the Japanese commentary, its that good! Best GT style racing around next BTCC & WTCC...Um which is ...Touring car,I'll shut up now.
Would love to be able to watch the first day of testing. Button said in an earlier invertview that if the car is anything like the simulator drivers will have their hands full this season.
Well considering the other guy involved has already been tried and found guilty I don't think Bernie is gonna be around much longer. Looks like 2014 is gonna see a lot of changes, not all of them on the track.
