Ran CE and VOG HM a couple of times in recent memory.  Fairly easy and lots of fun.  Definitely will be a challenge when the LL bumps.

Other than that, really nothing else to do, except maybe collecting a weapon or two, armor, or emblems in the ROI raid for those whose sets are not complete.

When I saw that there wouldn't be a LL increase in the DLC and that gear and weapons would drop at max LL, it sort of stopped me in my tracks.  No need to grind for exotic engrams and since no one seems to want to raid anymore, there isn't much to do until the DLC drops.

Hopefully there will actually be a lot of content to go thru and most if not all of the book items will be challenging.  Going to be a fairly long haul until D2 drops and hopefully this DLC will keep us involved and invested.

I tend to agree.

I believe a lot of any potential attraction to play AoT will be tied to what gets announced next week. Armour and weapon perks and to a lesser extent esthetics, will be the big motivators for me.

Guess what Bungie? I will not be happy if you think I'll be grinding for something up to the last few weeks before Destiny 2 comes out. I want the junk early so I can happily put this game into deep hibernation.

I think many of us - especially the Day One players - are in the same boat. We've been there and done that, over and over and over again.

The farewell tour that is AoT is basically just fan service to those of us that have stuck with the game. I'm hoping we basically get ALL of our old toys and gear back to play with the last few months before we move on to the new game.

I was hoping Bungie would tease some kind of exclusive reward gained from the AoT book that would transfer over to D2. This would certainly give us more of an incentive to complete the book or unlock all the goodies. The book is basically just a bunch of emblems that don't appear to carry over to the new game.

Still, at least it gives us something "new" to do.

Well, you do earn the right to buy a fancy tee shirt, which you can wear while you play Destiny 2. Does that count?

I for one and very excited to see what they have coming up.  New playlists, changed crucible lists, upgraded hard mode raids... I'm excited to try to get some VoG loot that is at current light level.  Excited to see what Crota will do to us at 390 light and what changes they  have made to the raids.

Ranger and I still treasure hunt every week.  I'm still hunting for a better Queen's choice and scout out of CoE.  So add in new harder hard mode raids to get loot from... yeh I'm excited.

Another impromptu raid party with destiny.bungie.org. Thanks go to  Kal and Ranger for stepping into stranger danger.

No way to know it was happening. It wasn't my party. DBO members are spreading their wings a bit and one of them felt comfortable enough to ask me and available friends in.

The final Age of Triumph reveal stream is today at 10:00 AM Pacific. Today we'll learn about all the sandbox updates - such as what they are doing with all the raid weapons and armor - including the fancy ornaments for all the new gear.

Bungie showed off all the sweet new loot.

Basics:

  • Each raid is getting new armor sets; all with the ability to apply ornaments.
  • Ornaments are NOT raid specific; example, ornament earned in VoG can be used on Crota gear
  • Ornaments only drop from the 390 Light challenge modes
  • Elemental primaries are coming back BUT these weapons are now "adept" versions that ONLY drop from the challenges AND are now exotic weapons. This means you can get a LL 400 Fatebringer with no elemental damage. If you want the elemental version of the Fatebringer, you have to complete the challenge for a chance it will drop. Many of the primaries are coming back as exotics, but not all.
  • Elemental primaries have also been added to King's Fall and Wrath of the Machine
  • There was also some talk about the weapon updates in regards to "buffs" and "nerfs", but we'll see those specifics in next week's patch notes.

That's about it for a quick overview.

These new armor sets are very impressive and offer up some really cool visual effects. I can't even describe it in words, so go find some videos and pics...lol

The new stuff is pretty cool looking. smiley

How long are we going to be able to utilize it before essentially dropping the game? Every persons answer will be different. Hot shots who can get the cool stuff the quickest have the greatest potential to use it. It may come to pass that even some us regular players may never see some of that gear let alone use it before Destiny 2.

I was hoping to hear, "Come and play the Raids again. It'll be more fun and a bit easier. Kick the Darkness in the ass and earn fancy pants on the way through!"

I get what you are saying DEEP, but I think this is all Bungie can really do at this point. The VoG and Crota really aren't that bad on hard mode, especially compared to when we had to run it below max Light and with some not-so-good weapons. Now we have better weapons, max Light and extra subclasses that help with the encounters.

Yes, bringing all the raids up to current Light will increase the difficulty. However, Bungie has stated some of the mechanics have been refreshed. I think one of the examples given in one of the streams was decreasing the Oracle round in VoG in an effort to not make it feel like such a chore.

This update is really for those of us that just want to get that last drop of blood from the turnip that is Destiny before we start over later in the year. I don't mind grinding for the gear, so long as I can have fun with friends and get some sweet loot at the same time.

I'm quite satisfied with what I understand of the AoT package. It should keep some of us busy for a while. I came in kind of late, so I still have things to learn about the first two raids, and am much more interested in learning if they become challenging again. By the time we're bored, the Destiny 2 hype train will be on the move!

Destiny 2, Sep 8 (Europe), leaked cover art, look for confirmation from Bungie today (next week I'm reading now)!

So this makes me wonder if you have to acquire new HM raid gear to be able to use the new ornaments, or are they just adding an ornaments slot like they did with the exotic weapons? Don't recall hearing this discussed in the streams.

I don't remember 100% if it was announced, but I would be VERY surprised if we didn't have to get new drops for the raid gear. I'm thinking Bungie will be getting rid of the Radiant/Ascendant shard/energy economy for the new gear, so this means we'll need to get new drops.

I remembering hearing in the stream that old raid armour must be re-earned. The key is my "memory".

Wrath of the Machine HM armor does have a new slot for the AoT ornaments. My Kings Fall armor doesn't have them.

I was under the impression all of the raids would be playable at 390 tomorrow from the Director, but only one would be the featured raid and drop the challenge loot.

This is incorrect. Only Crota's End will be available tomorrow at 390. The other raids will become available at 390 in the following weeks and will be selectable in the Director once they have made an appearance as the weekly featured raid.

The order is Crota's End (week 1), Vault of Glass (week 2), King's Fall (week 3) and Wrath of the Machine (week 4).

Any way of knowing how the challenges work before Tues?

I suppose I'll have to follow the web for hints.

The only hint we have will that there are two for CE. One for Ir Yut (Deathsinger) and the other is Crota. As with previous challenges, it's left to the community to figure out how it works. I'm sure people will have it worked out by the time your group runs later in the evening.
