Button combos were an unintended glitch.  They fixed the glitch.  Just because some people liked the glitch doesn't mean it should be a part of future games.  Etc.

I thought Eks meant the button glitch was ostensibly added to Halo 4 via the armour upgrades?

One of the button glitches from Halo 2 was a fast reload.  BXB.  Now you can actually choose this as an upgrade in your weapon loadouts.  So my original point was that people complained about those so much in the past, and now part of it has worked it's way into the game as a normal option.

BxB was a melee modifier, not reload.  Are you sure you aren't thinking of RRxYYRRx which was quad shotting?  That shit will probably be patched in next.

Ha, that how long it has been.  It was XYY.  So you start the reload then you pressed YY fast.  You changed weapons so quickly that most of the time you really would not see the other gun.  Ammo reloaded.

The dub shot was one I could never get down.  My friend could like it was nothing, but it was too much for me.  I could do it messing around, but in games I had too much going on usually to even attempt that.

Gotcha.

I thought you meant a button glitch like the recently patched Grenade throw or Boltshot reload.

You do. Only if they are taking fire.

I don't really like the random weapon drops. Fiesta Slayer. Too many power weapons randomly distributed. I would prefer predictable weapon spawns like in previous Halo games. Learning maps and timing weapon spawns were skills that took time to learn. I fear that 343 has dumbed down the game too much. It requires less skill, and players get bored with it faster. H4 populations have dropped so much now that it is difficult to find evenly matched teams in MM. It seems to take forever waiting for matches, and annoying music doesn't help to make the waiting any easier. I am still hanging on, though.

Do you know about the paused looping music trick to eliminate the lobby music?

Start game. Start Xbox music, select song from for example, a USB drive. Set to looping (default I think) and press pause. Exit to game.

I might not remember this completely correctly, but I thought you could go into a playlist, tell it to start searching, and then cancel it, and the music would fade away.

I know it worked flawlessly in Reach, think it does in Halo 4 too but not completely sure.

In any event it is kinda funny reading people saying how they want glitches to come back, and unintended mechanics as well.  I was told that's the kind of stuff that is frowned upon and unfun :)

People may want certain functionality back but no one in their right mind should ever want it back as a glitch. These types of software glitches can be exploited in other ways too and ultimately it can render the game useless.

If these features were purposely built in it would be interesting at the competitive level. Absolutely useless though if it was in MM and only 1% of the pop could do it effectively.

I can see your point.

Like how a previous Halo game's glitch let you reload quicker, and in Halo 4 there is the dexterity loadout ability a player can equip.  Makes sense.

I do not think you can see your teammates unless you are facing towards the area they are in.  I will look tonight though.  I do know it is not the same as it has always been.

BxB, Xyy et all are completely different from wall hacks, but I can see why someone would bring that up...

The issue is that with the button combos, everyone could have them, and you could tell if they were using them and compensate.  Now, it's like "surprise" I have an ace up my sleeve.

Actually a quick search of this thread reveals you brought up wall hacks first.  So if you'd like to share why someone (you) would bring that up, I'd like to hear about it.  :)

Also, since you brought it up, do you feel that hacking is the same as "press the jump button"?  Or do you feel that hacking would require a bit more, such as use of modified code, breaking protections in place, etc?

Most of when I heard of "wall hacks" was when a friend of mine was playing Counter Strike Source.  He'd mention that people used "wall hacks" to see through walls, something not able to be done without such programs.

It is funny though when people post that their facebook got "hacked" by their friends.  Some super hackers they are, to enter text into a profile that was already logged in hehe.

The definitions related to digital things according to merriam webster are

an expert at programming and solving problems with a computer

or

a person who illegally gains access to and sometimes tampers with information in a computer system

With regards to the rest of your post, I too agree that unintended mechanics can be an unfair exploitive action, and that having the option to include them by choice of the developer (faster reloading = dexterity mod, for example) is a much nicer solution.

As always, I value your input.

The term wall hack is the broad generalization of the glitch to put one's self into a wall to provide a distinct advantage over the opposing team.  Something I am sure you are very familiar with no?

It has been called that in Call of Duty, and in Halo.  It is not a hack as in going into hex code and editing xex files on a jtag. But that can't really go on XBL right now without being banned in about 5 minutes can it? And you also can't do that without a partner bridging you host right?  Unless you are running infections, in which case XBox might go as far to ban the IP's and not just the xbox(es) though I have not seen them resorting to this.

The point I was trying to make:
that you would question our past usage of button combos, to try to defend your using wall exploits in the past.
To be honest, I am unfamiliar with many of the hacking related terms you mentioned.  I'm kind of at a complete loss as to some of its meaning.

In any event, I feel overall that the game should be played as intended and not through misuse of any sort of weakness or oversight present in the game, or not present until modified code is introduced.

I feel people should be able to play and not have to worry about knowing the unintended tricks in order to be competitive.  Is that something we can agree on?
