I still don't understand whether or not the LE gives you any earlier access to the additional 6 specializations.

I have seen the XBOX emal posted in this thread about playing by 11/20 and recieving the unlock code by 11/30.

That's still early access for LE owners assuming (only for the sake of my understanding not reality) that everyone could hit lvl 50 day one.80

Not only would you have to hit SR50, but all of the Specializations would have to be "turned on" by 343.

They have already stated that 2 will be available at launch for everybody (after reaching SR50) and the others would be activated as certain "milestones" were reached by the community. Something about wanting to see how the Specializations worked for balance.

So, it may not matter if you have LE or SE, if 343 does not have all the Specializations active once we reach SR50.

I know it's clear as mud...

You can pick any one, of the total of 8 specializations, the moment you hit level 50. How quickly that all happens and whether or not you can capitalize on it, is anybodies guess.

Everyone has access to Pioneer after lv 50. Obviously a lot of SE owners will go for that one so that they can use the Fast Track mod to earn EXP quicker. End result could equal catching up to LE owners. You'd have to be very dedicated to the process though.

Pioneer Specialization: = Fast Track Armor Mod = earn EXP quicker.

As an LE owner you could choose Operator first so that you'd be early to exploit the ...

Wheelman Armor Mod: The Wheelman armor mod gives Spartans the skill to coax every bit of stamina and durability out of vehicles they are piloting.

Wheelman armor – which features cylinder packs that could be preplaced with more oxygen or cooling material depending on the mission – makes you suffer the negative effects of an overcharged Plasma Pistol burst for less than the normal time. Vehicles you drive are also more durable over a longer period of time. You can still get hijacked, but the window for that is smaller.

In the short term you have more choice. In the long term, it probably won't make a lot of difference.

I don't think it'll make any difference in a year, but at the start it'll have considerable effect as people experiment and pick favorites. I see myself using the experience boost, but that could easily change.

It's still a bait and switch type tactic that I don't appreciate. Simple as that. I wanted the immediate unlock because pioneeer or operator did not appeal to me and there was no indication on when they would be available to everyone who didn't get the LE. It was stated they would open up piece meal as the community hit certain milestones. It's just sour grapes for me. Make the LE worth it to your fans.

I will probably switch to the SE too, unless tomorrow's Bulletin actually mentions this LE vs. SE fiasco (which I doubt) and gives the LE some love.

Most likely I will switch too. I'm still misunderstanding the LE vs SE unlock in my mind. Probably because I'm seeing other posters that have misinformation. Appreciate the input here very much though. The most basic question I have is:

What happens with the lvl 50 LE owner before the specializations have been made available to the lvl 50 SE owners.

Are the extra 6 specializations available? Deep's post would indicate yes.

If you play Halo 4, ANY edition, on Xbox Live Gold, between November 6 and November 20 2012, you can choose ANY specialization once you reach Spartan Rank 50.  Standard Editions get a code by the 30th to unlock them, and Limited Edition people do not need the code.  Neither has to wait for specializations to roll out over time.

Yea, but the question is what happens if I buy SE and reach LVL 50 before the code is sent out?  I suspect we are stuck with the standard 2 that come with the game.

This is true. However, if it takes you a month to reach SR50, then the point is moot. Seeing how we do not have any real idea how long it takes to reach SR50, it's hard to know.

Game is out on Nov. 6th, SE owners get the code on Nov. 30th. I don't think there will be too much time for the average person to have to wait, if at all, to access all the Specializations.

Thank you Ghost. Thank you everyone. This was the way I should have asked my question. It appears the answer is yes thanks to the info above here.

Practically speaking, I don't see it affecting me in any way. But I can be mighty impractical 23

According to most recent news all of the specializations will supposedly be availble to BOTH the LE and SE owners. Taking into account the SE owner plays online before Nov. 20th.

Also from a previous Halo Bulletin:

Quote:
All players have access to two Specializations at launch:

• Wetwork: WK-1 to WK-10
• Operator: OP-1 to OP-10

The rest, which are listed below, will gradually be made available in the months following launch. We will be keeping a close watch on player participation post-launch and will roll out the additional six Specializations when the player base reaches certain milestones. Purchasers of the Limited Edition and pre-orders in certain territories have launch day access to the remaining six Specializations – although you still need to complete the initial 50 Ranks before you can enlist in one.

• Engineer: EN-1 to EN-10
• Tracker: TK-1 to TK-10
• Rogue: RG-1 to RG-10
• Stalker: SK-1 to SK-10
• Pathfinder: PT-1 to PT-10
• Pioneer: PR-1 to PR-10

Now, the part about purchasers of the LE having launch day access to all six specializations, was mentioned BEFORE this email that started circulating about SE purchasers also being granted access so long as they play the game over XBL before 11/20.

This is what has caused all of the nerd rage from those of us that pre-ordered the LE and why some of the LE pre-orders are considering switching to SE.

Also if you do get to SR50 with a standard edition before the 30th, and don't want to be stuck with one of the two basic specializations, then here's a pro tip - just wait.  Wait to pick a specialization until the 30th.  Simple, and likely unneccesary as that probably would be very hard to hit max regular rank so quickly.

I've just come to the conclusion that the LE is crap for the specializations.  I was under the impression that it was like CoD where you made 50, then specialization, and then reset so you could go to another specialization.  But, it appears once you finish one specialization, you jump right into the next.

So, I take that to mean progressing to 50 is going to be months of time for most people.  Getting to SR50 + 10th level in all customizations is probably equivalent to becoming an inheritor in reach, which took me roughly 1.5 years.

Waiting 20 days for the code is not going to affect anything, even with the doulbe XP, IMO.

I hope it isn't that long. It took way to long to rank up once you got passed a Brig.

No sense in over worrying about it. I saw a couple of lobby pictures of early games and a few players were SR70 already.

I am guessing around 2-3 weeks tops to reach SR50. Probably closer to 2 weeks then 3.

Already corrected you in chat, just making it official. I doubt it will take that long to get to SR50, more like a week of intense playtime. Think Call of Duty prestige time.

...and it's still just speculation, but if there are people running around on modded boxes right now at SR70 and lan play gives you less xp than a live match would, it just sort of makes sense...

What I bolded is more accurate for a small few, for the average player I would say my theory will be more accurate.

Well, I'm going to get the LE anyway, because I have a 7 ft tall Master Chief statue in my home office and I'm wired like that.  But so is the only difference really just that we get FUD on a disk?  That seems kinda lame.

No, but that is probably the biggest ticket item.

Remember

$100 LE - $60 SE - $25 Map Pass - FUD Blu Ray priced around $17 on Amazon. = $-2  for the LE.

LE saves you $2 but you also get the Avatar stuff, Recruit Prime Skins, Assault rifle skin, Fan service stuff, making of FUD, other digital content.

LE has a ton of extra stuff but it's value is completely subjective.

I changed my order.  Gamestop had no idea that they did the bait and switch.  To bad it's not worth the extra 16 bucks to go in anyone's pocket.  Thankfully I had trade ins, I really didn't want to pay full price for it at all.
